Hot shower ?? Who takes hot showers in Thailand ?
My "cold water" in condo must be about 20°C, well enough for a shower...
but not cold enough to really refresh ????

It was true.
At that time it was not a pandemic; just an epidemic.

I usually wake up about 5:30, with first light of the day. Sun rise in Pattaya is just before 6am.
I don't really understand people going for a run at 4am when it's still dark night??
Even worse when it is for a bike ride at 4am. Seems rather dangerous to me...
I would be also curious to know at what time people go to sleep. I bet that if they wake up at 3am then they didn't go to bed at the end of the movie near midnight... ????

Of course it doesn't... because the article is about EU.

My question is why India is included in the 54 country list but Singapore, Malyasia, Taiwan are not included? Is it because of money, kissing India's ass for access to its large consumer market, or some other criteria? That is my question. //
The answer maybe is on the third criteria : "whether or not that country has lifted [or will lift soon?] travel restrictions towards the EU."

It’s enough to cause them to lock down over 400,000 of their own in China...but not good enough to keep them from coming here?
Pure BS and fear propaganda again. Nobody said that people from Beijing would be allowed to travel in Thailand if she was open to tourism right now !
In fact China would not authorized them to go, and Thailand several times said it would not be a "one authorisation for the whole China", but a few cities or provinces could be temporary excluded.

China knows how to control it.
Best to look at what will happen in the Americas ... IMHO.

This is one of those moments where greed might cost them everything. Way to go.
Outbreak seems a rather big word for
just 19 new cases in the whole China yesterday...

Most would not I guess, but those stuck outside the country are not able to return to renew their extensions. Surely, they should be allowed to be able to return to do so. And it is surprising that there appears to have been no mention of those needing to return to renew their extensions. //
Several threads already on this subject.
And just today in on of them, this post about a FB group for that.

<video>
Of course there will be a few fishermen highly impacted, but you can't generalize to the whole "French fishermen". It's just a tiny part of them, mainly from very North of France who exclusively fish in North UK waters as they have always done. They may have to adapt in case they can't fish there anymore.
Very probably they will be able to continue though, as a fishing agreement will be found. What's the point for UK to be able to fish more if their main customer - EU - add tarifs that will make their fishes difficult to sell ?
And don't forget there would be a lot of other bad consequences for UK fishing, as by example the highly important EU market for squids from the Falklands...

We don't know. I would say probably yes. But anyway about $50-$100 per month, so not a big deal for most expats.

My gripe with this is that they market a one year TV as a Retirement Visa. It is longer than the normal TV because you put money in a Bank and leave it there. //
Uh? Very confusing post. This thread is about Non-O. What you call "one year TV" must be Non-OA I think? Non-O ou OA don't need money left in a bank. Etc...

True. You can get bad surprises sometimes !
In February I stayed 1 month in a condo unit where my AIS couldn't give better than 2-3 Mbps! ????
Putting my phone on the rail of the balcony, I could reach 4-5 Mbps...
In the outside car park and nearby the condo I had a strong 12+ Mbps
Probably some faraday cage effect in the condo ??

I had a friend who had his flight cancelled 4 times - he finally managed to leave on Saturday - 2 months after he should have originally left
Another who has had his flight cancelled 3 times - he is still waiting to leave
All these you can leave at anytime posts are BS - Airlines are cancelling bookings on a daily basis
I think that such people are person who are accepting only direct flights or a precise list of airline companies.
Those who are open to more options mainly found a way to return home. There are by example countless of people who managed to find in just 2-3 weeks flights to return to their country in Europe.

Tiny number maybe, but still ~4'000 persons. From the Immigration point of view, they already gave you 3 extra months to left. You had a lot of opportunity to leave already to respect your short term visa. And fact is that many of these flights out of Thailand were far to be full!
56 minutes ago, kingofthemountain said:It's possible to go out of Thailand at any moment
so from the Thai point of view, there is no valid reason to extend the visa amnisty
put in place at the beginning because people were unable to go out.
Agree.
17 minutes ago, TingTawng said:That's my take on it...there's not even many destinations served.
Which countries? Because you may not have a direct flight doesn't mean you can't get flights to go there.
And again, from the Immigration point of view, they just want you to exit (not to overstay) but they don't care where you will go.
I of sure hope that all those in need (now) of another amnesty will get one, but if there is none I will understand why Immigration decided this.

Non immigrant O Retirement visa
Anyone knows when retirees could return? //
Non-O visa must not be very high on Immigration priority list of visas.
It's just a short stay visa (90 days). Barely worths more than a Tourist Visa.
I would think that retirees using yearly extensions have far better chances.

I am so glad so many here in Thailand // unwilling to pay $1000+ into the "immigration/agent fund" for an extension they qualify to receive under the "published requirements," but cannot due to corruption, //
??? No idea what you are talking about. Never heard of anyone having to pay such an amount for an extension! No need of an agent either. An Extension is 1'900B. You must be in a rare case or very bad location...??

All those countries bordering Thailand will be loving this doctor they will have there arms wide open to all those wealthy western foreigners //
Any proof of that?
As for now there is no country bordering Thailand that has "arms wide open" to receive tourists, and no indication that any of them will do it in a short time...
They all must also have their own doctor giving similar recommandations ????

Indeed and this is because Immigration cannot read the Dutch, French and German small print on the legalisation that the Embassy only confirms the signature and not the content of the affidavit
Uh? If I take my country as an example (France), the document for Thai Immigration showing monthly incomes is in English, and I bet it's similar for many non-english speaking countries.

3 minutes ago, 473geo said:Does this then mean that the EU negotiators were too demanding when the UK looked for a fair deal, or just not up to the task, or perhaps were dragging out the process in the hope of a U turn which did not appear.
None of this. EU is a club offering a big market and it works because members agreed to play with same rules. UK still want advantages of this market without constraints of these rules. This could never work.
4 minutes ago, 473geo said:Either way if a powerful group such as the EU could not provide a few concessions to pave the way for a satisfactory solution probably not as economically sound as they would like to appear, //
Where did you see that EU didn't provide any concessions? Of course they did! No negotiation is possible without concessions. Problem is that UK put its red lines way too high.

I agree.
EU spent already way too much time and money trying to find a decent exit for UK from the ridiculous situation where a few of its politicians put it just in their own personal interest/career.
UK actual current government clearly doesn't want and doesn't try to find any fair agreement with EU.
Let's stop this circus now.
Good bye and Good luck UK on WTO...
