What is it that makes VFS "not ethical"? -
Strange thing to teach them when the tills calculate the correct change automatically for them.

I would guess you do not have kids. Let's put it this way. Meet me with your wife and I will take her off alone so she can play with my phone ok. What man would say and do that to a little kid that is not his? Clearly something happened other than the child playing with his phone. If they arrested him then also clearly they have enough evidence to charge him as well. 7 year olds are not prone to making up stories like this and parents are not so quick to believe it also without some supporting evidence. "I would guess you do not have kids". That's the problem with people such as you who make fatuous guesses, I have four children and two grandchildren. "Let's put it this way. Meet me with your wife and I will take her off alone so she can play with my phone ok". What? If I still had a wife what would be the pint of such a ridiculous attempted analogy when she would not be a 7-year old child? "Clearly something happened other than the child playing with his phone". No, that has not been "clearly" confirmed yet. "If they arrested him then also clearly they have enough evidence to charge him as well". Being charged does not make him guilty and the prosecutor is the person who will decide if the police "clearly" have enough evidence to indict him. "7 year olds are not prone to making up stories like this and parents are not so quick to believe it also without some supporting evidence." Which "supporting evidence" is that? You need to cast your mind back a couple of months to the case of a van driver being falsely accused of raping a young schoolgirl as a result of the girl being put under pressure from her family. He was innocent. I am not condoning this man's actions if he did what he is being accused of but, at this stage, that has not been proven to be the case.

Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The following numbers for 2020 have been published by a news source that cannot be referred to according to Forum rules. Yes, the Bangkok Post reported that also. I correct myself...All persons earning income are required to file a tax return except for individuals whose income from employment is THB 120,000 or less (for single persons) or THB 220,000 or less (for married persons. -
The cheque is deposited in your Thai bank account, uncleared (the funds cannot be used), which then physically sends the cheque to the US bank. When the cheque is cleared in the US, by the US bank, your Thai bank will be advised and credited internally. Your Thai bank will then clear the funds in your account here (minus any charges) and they can then be utilised. It can be a long-winded exercise and may not be worthwhile if it's not a large amount.

I still reckon we are on the same page Lou. "Fine print" is just an expression of must read the policy details Ok, but the expression "fine print" is usually an derogatory reference to something that may be intentionally or fraudulently obscure. "Policy conditions" is a fairer reference to the, er, policy conditions that are in regular font. -

Russians conned in 720,000 baht Phuket villa booking scam
Liverpool Lou replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Doesn't have to be reported for it to be true. Doesn't have to be reported for it to be false, either, but, in the absence of any suggestion, never mind evidence of your claim, why bring it up? -
Expat Tax Twists in Thailand: Navigating the New Landscape in 2024
Liverpool Lou replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A good article extolling the virtues of the LTR visa supplemented by anecdotal "case studies" and the usual "I don't actually know, we'll have to wait and see speculation", ending with the disclaimer that it should not be considered professional financial or tax advice and that readers are strongly encouraged to consult with a qualified financial advisor. The authors interesting SEC licencing/approval details can be seen here... https://market.sec.or.th/public/orap/PersonProfile01.aspx?lang=en&personrunid=0000092919 -

All Thais with income are obliged to declare it and pay tax if applicable - many are within the exempt bracket. Income-earning Thais do not have any exemption from filing a tax return. Who are "the Thais earning a lot of money" who are exempted from tax to whom you refer? -

Depends on the specific insurer's policies but cover probably would be provided as the IDP is nothing more than a translation of the valid foreign driving licence. -

There were approximately 3.2m tourist arrivals in December and 2.6m the previous month so no problem for that scheme that doesn't exist.
