  1. Those who are caught, charged, found guilty and fined sure aren't offered an extension when leaving the court and there's no reason that they should be! What other alternative could there be?
  2. Maybe it was a Permission to Stay. Why should he "just have have dementia"?
  3. B0ll0cks. Not as far as law-abiding people are concerned, just the same as your own country that has Immigration laws.
  4. If it goes to court a proportional fine is usually the outcome but it has to be accompanied by deportation because he has no permission to stay. Are you advocating that overstayers are just fined and waved on their way by the judge to continue their illegal stay unbothered?
  5. I think that a 38-day overstay on a, probably, 45-day permission to stay is taking the pi_ss a bit.
  6. Funny that you seem to think that the Immigration Bureau's main concern should be drug dealing and murder cases, not Immigration cases.
  7. Why the sneering derision with the "grass up" comment, you're ok with law-breakers, are you? Perhaps he "grassed himself up" by not having a valid visa/permission to stay in his passport that he gave to the hotel. Perhaps his passport details were noticed by Immigration after the hotel advised them of his stay there?
  8. I'm not condoning her murder but perhaps he was perfectly normal, albeit intoxicated, and just didn't like his intoxicated, promiscuous wife putting herself about as much as she did?
  9. the TAT has no taxpayer funding??? Clearly the central point of this article was Central's contribution but, yes, of course TAT is taxpayer-funded but once that budget is given to it by the government, it is TAT's money to use for it's sole purpose! Your thinking is that the agency that represents the tourist industry here shouldn't be promoting the one thing that it exists to promote?
  10. What's one of them, then? I know what a bacon butty is but a what bacon butty?!
  11. Plus probably overweight , as they do ... Tractors? Tractors such as the remains of the one in this incident don't have a facility to carry loads, do they?
  12. Did the tractor's tyres (how could you know that they were "too old"?) cause the accident while it was stationary at the roadside, being worked on by the man who died?
  13. What complicated problems do Thai nationals have with PayPal Thailand?
  14. For the purpose of this thread, and the tourist's journey, I was assuming that the hotel from where he was driven was the driver's boss. I was not "nit-picking for the sake of it" but it sure looks as though you are.
  15. What makes you think that Bangkok's taxis wouldn't run through the night?
  16. What a great idea. You are full of inspirational content. Thanks, someone's got to post rational comments, I'm happy to oblige!
  17. Nonsense, it's a commercial business decision promoting those involved (as is everything else that successful commerce does, charitable projects excluded). Why don't you suggest that Central just closes down the entire business, sells everything and gives all the cash to the homeless, that would make just as much 'sense'. Do businesses in your own country give their marketing budgets to the poorer members of society and the homeless, and, if they don't, have you contacted them to suggest that they should?
  18. 'What a waste!' : Ian Dury "It's their promotional money" - Liverpool Lou.
  19. "Bar owner in one well known BKK entertainment suburb showed a few of us the rate card for staying open a few years back. The cops had actually felt secure enough to print it." (From topic on bars not staying open until 0400). If the cops are brazen enough to print cards showing rates for bars staying open after 0200 do you actually believe that the cops wouldn't take cash from raids? You are living in a fairy land. Thanks for confirming that you cannot back up your specific claim with anything empirical but you have to resort to years-old hearsay of a completely unassociated subject. I did not say that they may not be in a position to that, or that I don't believe that they would do that, I just asked you for evidence of your very specific, but speculative, accusation that they regularly purloin seized assets. You have produced none.
  20. Great satire. Bordering on Carlinesque! No satire, whatsoever.
  21. Because he didn't have the brains to figure that out for himself without being told. You think that he didn't have an obligation to report the missing passenger to his boss and that he wouldn't have then been given instructions, whether he "had the brains" or not?
  22. He wouldn't if the police didn't attend the scene, as seems likely here.
