    No one is assumed guilty, but, yes, the police do have the right to ask any foreigner to produce his permission to stay but, having said that, the latter is very likely to be the case if the IB's systems didn't let them know.

    "Unnecessary unfortunate start on his plan to migrate here". Absolutely. He actually ducked himself over by overstaying, no way he could have made that situation into a long stay on his own. And it doesn't make any difference who, if anyone, blew the whistle on him, an overstay is an overstay if there's no agent involved.

    Nah, you joined on 1 April 2021 (which you would probably have us think is pure coincidence!) and are well on course to break the 10,000 posts barrier by Christmas this year. And? You're point is what? As I said before, it's distressingly sad that you bother to keep stats on my membership and my posts here. Are you doing that with other members also?

    They don't have to know anything about types of visa, all they need to see is the extension of stay expiry date and that's easy to check.

    When they copy the passport they also check the visa, they've been doing it for years. The passport has to be valid and, for a foreigner making a banking transaction, if the visa isn't valid, neither is the passport.

    He did not say that "the brakes failed", he said that the brakes "failed to stop him", a veiled admission that it was his fault.

    No trader was named here, apparently, and the claim was made anonymously on a third party forum that can provide no contact details apart from a throwaway email address so how does the trader get in touch with him, never mind take him to court?

    IIRC your passport does not really belong to you but the country of issue, at least the UK one does. You're correct.

    No, that is not the issue, no one applying for an ED visa has to "match a standard student profile", they just have to be enrolled in a school. Go to a Thai language class and see.

    Who said that they can't find him? Finding out where he is isn't the problem. He's not wanted in any country except Thailand and the RTP's jurisdiction ends at the Thai borders, that's how it works

    Interpol Notices are advices/requests to member police forces, none of them are obligated to take any notice of them if they don't want to.

    Because there's been a very well publicised crackdown lasting from Dec 1st until today. It's been reported many times here and in the English language press.

    Says who? Not Interpol, that's for sure. If a warrant has been issued a Notice can be requested, if Interpol don't like the request they can deny it.

    If he popped into the Immigration office while not attending the classes that got him the visa. I'm sure that they would have told him. Anyone who does not stick to the requirements for a visa to remain valid would obviously know the risk that they were taking and, therefore, visa cancellation and overstay would not be "a bogus stretch"!
