The "norm" for a Thai is to pay an agent to do it? If a Thai wants an agent to do the transfer I'd be suggesting that the Thai purchaser pays for that service himself. But that's just me.

Why are so many posters quoting a fare of around B1500 (to where?) when no destination has been specified? It's, obviously, nowhere near B1500 for a metered airport taxi (or Grab, Bolt) into Bangkok, for instance.
