  1. So, in that event, what exactly, if anything, could a Paypal personal account in Thailand be used for? Buying or selling items using PP linked to a bank account!
  2. I was told the same thing, in effect...any accounts that will be affected will receive appropriate notifications.
  3. Clearly, you haven't called the English-language option of PP Thailand, their English skills are pretty good.
  4. As a generalisation about all existing PP personal accounts that is incorrect.
  5. My PP/Thai bank link is with a debit card and it has been confirmed that my account will continue to be valid with this type of card. Amazing what a phone call to a real person at PP can do. Unaffected existing personal accounts will continue to be able to be linked to debit cards.
  6. Ok, after an 11m 22s conversation with PayPal, Thailand, it has, once again, been confirmed to me, by a second PP representative (Adrian), that, as an existing personal account holder since before March '21, there will be no alterations to my personal account after February '22, as some people are falsely reporting will be a general invalidation. Bear in mind that I am posting what has been confirmed will happen to my personal account (nothing), which to use their words, is "in goodstanding", not anyone else's account but I see no reason for there to be any differential. The PP rep also stated that any personal account holders whose accounts will be affected will receive notification from PayPal. Those whose personal accounts will not be affected will not receive that notification. It is time for members to refrain from posting alarming information as a general warning about all personal PayPal accounts when their generalisations are inapplicable to all PP personal accounts. Perhaps those who are concerned should do the really easy exercise of calling PP to ask! 02 787 3409. I am not commenting about business accounts which may be different but, as a personal account holder, I have no idea about, nor interest in, that area.
  7. Yes, it does seem to be the case, did you not read what PayPal specifically confirmed to me? How can the opinions of Thaivisa posters who have nothing to do with PayPal be correct and PayPal incorrect? By the way, you asked why I engage with you on this subject (while it seems that your engaging with me is not to be queried?). This is a forum, we are both part of this thread and there are some inaccurate assertions being made by posters who seem to be guessing. If you don't want engagement, don't post on forums!
  8. If it's on Thai roads already, it, obviously, must be ANCAP compliant.
  9. Nonsense as far as personal accounts opened before March 21 are concerned. This is the message I received last night from PayPal in response to my question to them querying the validity of my personal account (opened in Thailand and linked to Thai banks) after February 22 and whether my account needed to be verified in any way... "Hi ______, this is Franz from PayPal messaging. I hope you are safe and well. Confirming that your account has no changes need to make. You can still enjoy your PayPal account as you normally use it. We appreciate the time and your effort dealing with this concern. Thank you for contacting PayPal and for being a valued customer".
  10. Wow, carry on believing what you wish to be true but I literally quoted you two direct statements from PayPal's own site that specifically says that existing personal or unregistered business accounts that have not gone through the KYB process created before March 2021 will NOT be able to hold a balance or receive payments after February 2022. Wow. I quoted PayPal also! And what I quoted is, essentially, what you said!
  11. Could you enlarge on that procedure? What's the app, is it in English. etc. Thanks.
  12. If you read the terms linked in the first post, any personal/non registered business account created before March 2021 is affected and will not be able to receive payments or hold a balance after February 2022. Thanks for correcting my understanding but your comment is not correct either. "...any personal ... account created before March 2021 is affected and will not be able to receive payments or hold a balance after February 2022". That is false. According to that link, existing accounts will continue to be valid as long as they as they are verified. It does not state that "existing accounts will not be able to receive payments or hold a balance after February 2022".
  13. Sure, but with such a corrupt police department and judicial system in Thailand, the consequences for talking a life with a bullet here is vastly different to many other countries. I made no comment about that, only his "cost of a bullet" garbage!
  14. I've imported many items but bear in mind that what is being discussed here, and what I have always only commented on, are items imported and sent here via Thailand Post or courier companies. That is what I am referring to, and that alone. Everything that I have posted about those specific circumstances is factual.
  15. That's right, existing personal PP accouunts with a Thailand/Thai bank connection are not affected.
  16. Import rates apply to specific products at specified rates. No one uses a shipping agent when having items brought in by the postal service or courier companies which is the subject of the OP.
  17. You're talking about your false claim that a request for a duty re-assessment resulted/results in a fine of five times the correct duty ifit turns out that the correct rate was applied initially? I know that is not the case because that is not the law.
  18. I know that import duty rates are specified and cannot, legally, be arbitrarily increased over those specified rates at the whim of Customs officers. As far as rates on articles imported via TP or couriers such as DHL, FedEx, etc. are concerned, which is what I am commenting on, they are specified and can be appealled if they seem to be excessive.
  19. Not my experience from living here and importing things for 25+ years. You virtually always pay a higher rate with a courier and only ONCE have I been charged 60% duty by normal post. THIS IS MY DIRECT EXPERIENCE, not what I "think". What I posted is factual, not what I think.
  20. Import duty rates for the same categories are the same, regardless of whether the item comes in via Thailand Post or DHL, FedEx etc. They are specified and, if they seem to be too high. a review at Customs can be requested. Items coming in through the postal system attract the same rates but are frequently not assessed because it is not possible for TP to examine every item; couriered items will always be assessed by the courier under their contracts on behalf of Customs.
  21. Never heard of this...ever. That's because it was never the case...ever...if it was for nothing more than a request for a review of the duty charged.
