  1. From the first link. "In 2007, Jeff Bezos, then a multibillionaire and now the world’s richest man, did not pay a penny in federal income taxes. He achieved the feat again in 2011." Bezos did it, twice. "Did not pay a penny" is tax, twice. Do you see a pattern emerging? Did you read the question that I asked? Those were legitimate one-offs, so, no, I do not see any pattern of "consistency of non-payment of income tax", and those links refer only to federal income tax.
  2. There are a number of reports of that happening here.
  3. Point that at the one I replied to instead. I was only answering the question. Apparently you are not in the sharp group of members. 😉 No, apparently you are not in the sharp group of members (to use your words); you're the one who posted that Paisan fell into that "stupid enough" category by providing his name in response to the "stupid enough" question!
  4. Not one of those links provides empirical evidence of any one individual "consistently paying little or no income tax", it all hearsay and conjecture.
  5. I don't think that you thought that assertion through very carefully. Who is "They"?
  6. They don't, they make random calls...it's a numbers game that gives them one successful hit out of thousands, very infrequently.
  7. Anyone who has fallen prey to scammers, and has made the transaction themselves, is very likely to verify the transaction otherwise they would not have made it.
  8. I guess that you have no idea what you are talking about or how it is possible to accumulate wealth over 80 years.
  9. Is that a fact? Reads more like an unfounded, unjustified, ignorant accusation.
  10. Everything probably seems fishy to people who use the (non-existing) phrase "would of".
  11. An idiot. ...or a very old man whose faculties may no longer be what they once may have been.
  12. Paisan An 81-year old who, unfortunately, may no longer be as sharp as AN posters are.
  13. "...who is stupid enough to believe..." Who?...anyone who is stupid enough to believe that successfully saving and investing (and maybe inheriting) for the best part of 80 years is not possible and that the only way to accumulate wealth is to receive a salary, that's who.
  14. It should have been "cellar temperature" 10-13oC (50 to 55oF), not exactly warm but definitely not having its nads frozen off. Exactly.
  15. No it's not in Thailand. How many times have you seen news articles of Thais who have been arrested and not convicted being photographed reeanacting a crime scene for gawkers. They regularly show the faces of crime suspects. Yes, it is their right, if they choose not to be initially identified. That is why many photos show those accused individuals who are paraded before the press hiding their faces or their being obscured, they are not forced to show their faces, neither are they prevented from hiding them. Faces of the accused shown in crime re-enactments in the media are always hidden (masks, dark glasses hats, whatever) in media photos.
  16. As I mentioned in an earlier post - read The Panama Papers. As I asked earlier, please provide just one empirical example of a rich person consistently paying little or no income tax. You claimed that it happens, so you back up your claim. The Panama Papers do not specifically detail individuals' tax payments as evidence that they "consistently pay little or no income tax" which is the claim that you made.
  17. One last time for the slow one/s. If you do not have an assessable income and NEVER will, you are NOT required to register for a TIN, if you do not have an assessable income and NEVER will, you are not required to lodge a tax return. I never mentioned registration for a TIN, nor income here, I was referring to your apparent misunderstanding of residency for tax purposes, not your individual tax liability, read it slowly.
  18. No, of course not, you're making it up.
  19. You should have ordered "a pint of draught Bass", not "a draught of Bass Ale" [sic], then he probably wouldn't have taken the piss out of you. Just because it didn't come out of a fridge (you did order draught) doesn't make it "warm" - another common myth about British-served beer.
  20. It's always "legitimate". That's kind of the point. I asked that poster for an example of rich individuals paying little or not tax, consistently, don't suppose you could help him out? That was, kind of, the point.
