  1. I know the area around Boone, NC well where my late parents spent their summers. I would not compare the localized disasters in Maui and OH to the widespread destruction from this hurricane.
  2. But the voting age LGBTQ population in the swing states esp. Nevada and Arizona could actually make a difference.
  3. If Joe Biden decided not to be the Democratic 2024 Presidential candidate on January 1, 2024 instead of July 21, 2024, I would expect Ms. Haris to have more of a plan and detailed agenda. But he didn't.
  4. So Billie's voting for Harris and you're voting for Trump so you cancel out each other.
  5. That's nice. I am not a Billie fan but she has 32 million followers on Facebook -- not that that should make a difference, but it does.
  6. Billie Eilish and Finneas Endorse Kamala Harris for President Because ‘We Can’t Let Extremists Control Our Lives, Our Freedoms and Our Future’ “We are voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because they are fighting to protect our reproductive freedom, our planet and our democracy,” Eilish said. Finneas added, “We can’t let extremists control our lives, ours freedoms and our future. The only way to stop them and the dangerous Project 2025 agenda is to vote and elect Kamala Harris.” https://variety.com/2024/music/news/billie-eilish-endorses-kamala-harris-president-1236147555/
  7. Congresswoman Nancy Mace told Fox News Digital hours before the vote that she "100%" anticipated Democrats voting against her bill. "If you vote against it, you're sexist against women," Mace declared. https://mace.house.gov/media/in-the-news/icymi-158-dems-vote-against-bill-deport-illegal-immigrants-who-commit-sex-crimes NYTimes headline 19 SEP 2024 It’s Groundhog Day. It’s Anti-Woke Week. It’s Messaging Bill Fall. Lawmakers are forcing each other to take unpopular votes on bills destined to go nowhere.
  8. Wrong case. This topic is about a civil case. The 'crimes' as above is the criminal cases with the 34 counts as 'guilty'. Massive civil fraud verdict against Trump gets frosty reception at New York appeals court A panel of judges voiced skepticism about the size and validity of the nearly half-billion-dollar judgment 09/26/2024 06:42 PM EDT NEW YORK — Appeals court judges appeared to question the legitimacy of the civil fraud case against Donald Trump as the former president urged the court Thursday to overturn a judgment against him that has ballooned, with interest, to more than $478 million. ... During oral arguments on Thursday, some members of the five-judge appeals court panel suggested that New York Attorney General Tish James had overstepped by using the particular New York fraud statute she used to bring the case against Trump. As soon as Deputy Solicitor General Judith Vale, arguing for James, began her opening remarks, she was cut off by Associate Justice David Friedman, who questioned whether her office had ever before used the statute “to upset a private business transaction that was between equally sophisticated partners.” Associate Justice Llinet Rosado chimed in once Friedman finished to add, “and little to no impact on the public marketplace.” https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/26/trump-civil-fraud-appeal-oral-arguments-00181339
  9. NY appeals court seems open to altering Trump's 'troubling' $454 million civil fraud penalty NEW YORK — via AP Updated: 3:17 PM EDT Sep 26, 2024 Some judges in a New York appeals court appeared receptive Thursday to possibly reversing or reducing a civil fraud judgment that stands to cost Donald Trump nearly $500 million. One judge called the former president’s penalty “troubling” and wondered if the state’s policing of private business transactions amounted to “deterrence” or “mission creep.” ... But Judge Peter H. Moulton questioned if James' office was engaging in “mission creep,” and whether the law she sued Trump under had "morphed into something that it was not meant to do.” Later, Moulton questioned Vale about Engoron's hefty punishment, observing that “the immense penalty in this case is troubling.” https://www.wbaltv.com/article/ny-appeals-court-hears-arguments-on-trump-civil-fraud-judgment/62390658
  10. There was no jury -- bench trial by Judge Engoron.
  11. But the Billy Elish song only has 4 chords D Bm Em A -- ain't exactly Steely Dan.
  12. So good -- so far it works for you.
  13. True. But this was a US study and they I guess didn't consider men who have unprotected sex with multiple female partners who themselves have unprotected sex with multiple partners to be a class of 'high incidence' at least in the US.
  14. However, due to a lack of supporting evidence, the (CDC) guidelines state that “no recommendation can be given at this time” on the use of doxyPEP for cisgender women, cisgender heterosexual men, transgender men or other queer or non-binary people. “DoxyPEP will be of most use in groups with the highest incidence of bacterial STIs, particularly highly sexually active gay and bisexual men,” Nutland said. “Yet we must continue to emphasise the lack of evidence to support its use in some population groups.” https://www.aidsmap.com/news/oct-2023/us-releases-first-doxypep-guidelines-preventing-sexually-transmitted-infections
  15. The NY State court system gets confusing: The verdict by Judge Engoron WAS in the Supreme court. The current appeal is in the Appelate Division of the Supreme Court and the top Court is the Court of Appeals.
  16. Effectiveness of doxy PEP for other populations To date, doxy PEP has only proven effective among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men and transgender women at increased risk for STIs, and this is the group for whom CDC recommends counseling. There is insufficient evidence to assess the balance of benefits and harms of the use of doxy PEP in other populations. Studies in other populations, including cisgender women are vital, and CDC will update the guidelines as additional data are available. https://www.cdc.gov/sti/hcp/doxy-pep/index.html
  17. I am old fella. No condom sex was no big deal except for pregnancy considerations until the Herpes scare (at least in the US) of the early 80's and then HIV. So either sex with condom or without condom until then was no big deal. If an older guy now chooses to use a condom fine but certainly it would not be by one who would not remember or know the difference.

  19. “I think you hear underneath all these questions, the question of mission creep,” Associate Justice Peter Moulton said. “Has 6312” — the statute in question — “morphed into something that it was not meant to do?” https://www.politico.com/news/2024/09/26/trump-civil-fraud-appeal-oral-arguments-00181339
  20. Trump to women 25 SEP 2024 in Indiana, Pennsylvania: “Because I am your protector. I want to be your protector. As president, I have to be your protector. I hope you don’t make too much of it. I hope the fake news doesn’t go, ‘Oh he wants to be their protector.’ Well, I am. As president, I have to be your protector,” Trump said.

  23. When I lived in central Florida, people would ask: Why live in Florida and not near the Gulf or Atlantic coast? I would reply: You never see one of these signs pointing toward the water.
  24. Anticipated response: War mongers and profiteers
