  1. The 'cover' as expressed in the recent WrL policy document for degenerative illnesses will be almost exclusively outpatient cover or what in US is considered long term care or LTC. If you only have inpatient cover, it is practically then moot point and inpatient care only when medically necessary. And note from this CIGNA Global (Thailand) policy if you have 150 million baht inpatient cover you will only have 2.5 million outpatient cover.
  2. Since I have no direct experience in the industry, I try to only post directly from entities that are -- not winging it like the above. A major int'l broker says that a protected cell captive is particularly suited to: Acting as a fronting structure to access the reinsurance markets.
  3. The photo below was in a NY Times pictures of Phil Lesh article. I went to a 1967 Grateful Dead show at the CafeAuGoGo. I was a kid from NJ pre-driver's license. I took the train and the PATH tube into NYC to the show. The layout of the club was long and narrow with the stage in the middle. In the middle of a set, my timing was I had to leave to catch the last train home. I had to walk within a meter of Jerry Garcia on the way out and he gave me a look like my walking out was as editorial opinion on his show. But it was otherwise fun mostly playing stuff off their first album.
  4. Much thanks for being spokesperson for the industry.
  5. Only time will tell, huh? ... or as the the long beleaguered Chicago Cubs fans used to say: Wait 'Til Next Year
  6. The prime determinant is: Did you have chicken pox as a child? Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox. After you've had chickenpox, the virus stays in your body for the rest of your life. Years later, the virus may reactivate as shingles. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/shingles/symptoms-causes/syc-20353054
  7. And it's clear who the insurer is "Insurer: insurance company or captive or compartment of captive or protected cell of captive" https://www.vermontcaptive.com/captive/
  8. Old Age? As above that is S-O-O-O funny. But as long as we're in comdey mode, how about this (with apologies to The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, 1948): Underwriter? We ain't got no underwriter! We don't need no underwriter. I don't have to show you any stinkin' underwriter!
  9. It depends upon how much outpatient insurance you have, if any.
  10. From the Billy Wilder movie One, Two, Three in 1960's occupied Berlin (James Cagney as C.R. MacNamara -- Schlemmer his assistant) C.R. MacNamara: Just between us, Schlemmer, what did you do during the war? Schlemmer: I was in der Untergrund: the underground. C.R. MacNamara: Resistance fighter? Schlemmer: No, motorman. In the underground, you know, the subway.
  11. I am sure a lot of Hitler people felt the same way...until they didn't. I don't think a lot of Hitler people wanted Harris to win.
  12. #6 worldwide non-US captive domicile
  13. In a recorded video, the child asked the Republican candidate about his favorite farm animal. “I’ll tell you what I love, I love cows, but if we go with Kamala, you won’t have any cows anymore,” the former president responded to the child’s question. “I don’t want to ruin this kid’s day.” He then called Harris a “radical left lunatic.”
  14. I want Ms. Harris to win. But if it is Mr. Trump again, per the song 'Mockingbird' from 1963: I might rise above, I might go below Ride with the tide and go with the flow
  15. Just to note that the NY State Adult Survivors Act as used by Ms. E. Jean Carroll has ended. The Adult Survivors Act (ASA) is New York State legislation enacted in May 2022 which amends state law to allow alleged victims of sexual offenses for which the statute of limitations has lapsed to file civil suits for a one-year period, from November 24, 2022, to November 24, 2023. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult_Survivors_Act
  16. Los Angeles Times editor resigns after newspaper owner blocked plans to endorse Harris Updated 11:12 PM EDT, Wed October 23, 2024 The leader of the Los Angeles Times’ editorial board said Wednesday she has resigned from her post in protest after the newspaper’s owner blocked a decision to endorse Kamala Harris in the presidential election. “I am resigning because I want to make it clear that I am not okay with us being silent,” Mariel Garza told the Columbia Journalism Review in an interview. “In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up.” Garza’s resignation comes after Patrick Soon-Shiong, the billionaire doctor who purchased the publication in 2018 for $500 million, told the Times’ editorial board not to endorse in the presidential race, she said. The newspaper has endorsed a candidate in every presidential election since it backed Barack Obama in 2008. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/10/23/media/los-angeles-times-endorsement-harris-resign/index.html
  17. Gut feelings from James Carville who has actually run and won a presidential campaign (also as OP re-told from NY Times): Carville lists 3 reasons why he thinks Harris will win 10/23/24 7:58 AM ET “The biggest reason Mr. Trump will lose is that the whole Republican Party has been on a losing streak since Mr. Trump took it over,” he wrote in an essay published Wednesday by The New York Times. The veteran Democratic adviser also noted that the Harris’s campaign’s fundraising advantage will likely play a huge part in turning out swing-state voters, particularly suburban women. The Democratic nominee’s campaign raised almost $360 million in September and more than $1 billion since joining the White House race in late July — after President Biden stepped aside. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4948471-james-carville-kamala-harris-victory-2024-reasons-why/
  18. No -- just someone who has had an exposure to re-insurance and captive markets that doesn't ever get discussed on here. My main reason for commenting is that, going back 2+ years, there were queries of anyone who has had claims paid by WrLife. While I would have preferred saying nothing, I decided to do otherwise.
  19. You haven't said anything 'useful' that Ms. Sheryl And K.Shrdlu hasn't said 2 years ago.
  20. You talk about 'going after' the individual -- what are you going to do, bust his knees? Personally, I took out their policy after being insured by BUPA Thailand /pre-Aetna and Cigna Global, when I had few other options -- and I made sure I had another option if they didn't come through -- but so far, due to the luick of the Irish, they have twice And the words that you use which I will not repeat is why I consider your efforts disingenuous.
  21. BS you're in full time attack mode as indicated by your chosen vocabulary
  22. So why don;'t you just go after the guy and leave me and others on here out of it.
  23. I'll answer what I want to answer and leave the critiques to others At least so far for me it has made a lot of sense. You are presuming there is one underwriter consistent for the entire policy term. I don't make that assumption.
  24. I think those comparisons are perfectly valid. 7. You will not post defamatory or libelous comments. Defamation is the issuance of a statement about another person or business which causes that person or business to suffer harm or loss. A statement does not have to be false to be defamatory
  25. As of now I don't know for sure -- the policy doc when my policy was issued does not contain the word "degenerative". But this topic gave you another chance to list Shrdlu's greatest hits as to what an insurance company SHOULD do but this one doesn't. There can be reasonable critiques of this company and how they do business -- invoking the ghost of Bernie Madoff and that Italian guy from Boston isn't one of them.
