Correct. And don't forget to bargain down the bill. He should get the resident's rate (some private hospitals charge tourists more than residents), and should even try to get the local rate for Thais (he has WP? Yellow book? Pink card? Is married? May be helpful). It's a bazaar, and you should behave accordingly. Of course, you cannot bargain with a cashier. Someone further up. Sometimes it works, but rarely. He should also get out of there asap, otherwise the bill will just rise. Having said all this, 400,000??? For heavens sake. What does he work here, cleaning the streets (but that's probably a protected profession)???

Insured foreigner collapsed at Landmark Hotel: ambulance brought him to Samitivej. Not Bumrungrad. Guess why. BTW the opposite happens, too: rich, fully insured foreigner almost died at Soi 3 (hit by a car). Ambulance brought him to the Police Hospital because that's where they bring RTAs. His insurance then had him transferred to Bumrungrad.

Thailand Lengthens Visa-free Stay for Hong Kong Residents

I cannot open the link you provided, but anyway, this tells us a lot about Thailand. -
Diving, I agree. Swimming and getting some water in your ears, wouldn't result in any pressure. But can still result in otitis, see the mechanism described in MSD.

Using foreign credit cards abroad and buying tickets from foreign airlines: ( I know we don't know the rules, I know they will probably never find out - but what are the rules under the British system of remittance taxation for non-doms?) 1. Buying goods and services from abroad when I myself am physically abroad, and paying for them with a foreign credit card. That should be tax free, even in a year I am a tax resident in Thailand? Example: I buy a sex doll in Shanghai, paid with my Chinese credit card, during my visit to China. I don't bring the sex doll to Thailand (it's illegal, and no need anyway). 2. If I use said services (that I bought abroad and paid with my foreign credit card) at the time I am in Thailand, that should count as a remittance, right? Example: I don't buy a sex doll, I buy a subscription of the "MAGAzine" and I watch it when I am in Thailand. Or I buy an airline ticket with CAL to or from BKK, during my trip to China. 3. All tickets I buy from TG are remittances, right? Never mind I am abroad when I buy them, and never mind how I pay. Practical consequences in my everyday life: - I might use different foreign credit cards when I am in Thailand and when I am abroad. Just to keep records separated. - I will not pay for other people's (e.g. non-resident relatives) connecting flights through Bangkok with my credit card, let them pay themselves. - Never fly TG or buy a ticket for other people from TG using my own (albeit foreign) credit card, no matter where I am at the time of purchase.

How is this supposed to work? It's almost the other way round. The MSD Manual (professional edition, chapter Otitis) describes it: "Attempts to clean the ear canal with cotton swabs can cause microabrasions of the delicate skin of the ear canal (these microabrasions act as portals of entry for bacteria) and may push debris and cerumen deeper into the canal. These accumulated substances tend to trap water, resulting in skin maceration that sets the stage for bacterial infection." Having said that, ear wax is normally NOT impacted and doesn't have to be removed. Translated from a non-American website (not allowed to link to non-Englush content): "Cerumen is a physiological component of the external ear. Fresh cerumen is yellowish and thick. After a long time it loses its viscosity and becomes darker and harder. Cerumen protects the ear canal from infections because it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. The unpleasant, rancid smell prevents insects from entering the external ear canal." So, about ear wax removal, Robert Paulson is mostly right. Normally, there is no need to do anything, on the contrary, ear wax protects the ear. Ear canals don't need "cleaning". (Impacted ear wax may lead to hearing loss and obviously needs treatment/cleaning.)

Taiwan is not part of the PRC. Fortunately. -
Why the affected airlines in the OP are only low-cost carriers?

Thailand Warns Public on Dangers of Cyanide Possession

Thx Very interesting My dad always ate the seeds from apples or pears, he told us kids they are healthy. Maybe this was the reason for his early death at only 91 -
Report on visit to CW for 90 day report
Lorry replied to buick's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Anybody can do it for you. My gf would probably charge you 300 max, plus expenses. A friend of mine gives his gf 1000 (they live in lower Sukhumvit). I once did it for a friend. Free. Foreigners are cheap. -
No idea what happened. And I don't care. Do you think Srettha or Torsak care? BTW autocorrect changed my post, it should read "thread can be moved to position 675", not "poison 675"
-
That's what the police says they suspect.

Thailand Warns Public on Dangers of Cyanide Possession

I just learned from wikipedia that potassium cyanide is just some kind of salt: This is the deadly dose, according to wikipedia. Much bigger and more noticeable than I would have thought from the media reports -
Thailand Warns Public on Dangers of Cyanide Possession

Interesting. Cyanide seems to be very versatile. I always thought it must be swallowed. But thinking of it, the Nazis applied it by inhalation. If somebody wants to poison me with cyanide-laced tea, I wouldn't even be safe if I prepared the tea by myself? I should use tea bags I bought myself at BigC? The ones with the label "no cyanide added"? -

Thx for posting, even my experience is more similar to Dr Jack's -
As the police under guidance of Mssrs Torsak and Srettha have quickly solved the case, there is now no more need to talk or write about it. Maybe AN can move this thread to poison 675, or better still, close it.

Correct. Bangkok has actually become so good to be almost indistinguishable from home country. So, why live in Bangkok?
