  1. This is not completely correct. The inheritance tax rates for amounts above 100 million Baht are 5% inheritance tax for parents and descendants and 10% inheritance tax for other heirs.
  2. Be careful if you buy older devices. I just checked the minimum Android version for some messenger apps. This is it AT THE MOMENT. Not so long ago LINE for instance still worked with Android 4.2. It is a very bad development. Imagine you have to buy new devices for your whole family every couple of years just to be able to use one of these apps. Required Android versions: WhatsApp 4.1 Viber 5.0 Skype 6.0 Telegram 6.0 LINE 7.0
  3. Yes and no. IF I even take a phone with me (normally not) then it is this one. About 20 years problem free and still the same functionality as on the first day. Charging - every couple of days. ????????❤️
  4. But even LINE doesn't work anymore. Or my Email client K9. Google Drive has a problem with the Note II. And more and more other apps. And all these worked before without any problems. So you are forced to buy new devices...
  5. One thing you have to be aware of. Some apps might not work with older operating systems anymore. For instance banking apps but even others. My Samsung Note II (I have other devices...) has limited functionality in the meantime. Also my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 with Android 5 has problems with some apps in the meantime. Mainly I use a device with Android 11.
  6. It might not work with 802.11ac (WiFi 5). But this is no problem since 802.11n is normally fast enough. In respect of a SIM. Just recently I tried my Note II from 2012 with a new AIS SIM. No problems. Just be careful that it is not from an other country. A Thai friend bought a used one that was from Korea. It was locked to a phone provider there. It took me a while to make it work with the True Move SIM. So best test with a SIM before you buy.
  7. Perhaps a new pet? ????
  8. I read that he is back again. There is no new police chief. https://thethaiger.com/news/pattaya/pattaya-police-chief-cleared-of-vice-charges-back-on-duty
  9. There have been successful crackdowns already. Look here https://thethaiger.com/news/pattaya/phew-no-prostitutes-in-pattayas-walking-street-police
  10. You are planning to settle down in Pattaya to find a serious girlfriend? Honestly - would you go in your home country to a red light district to find a "serious" girlfriend?
  11. Often it is only the capacitor that does not work anymore. A very cheap part that you can get at Lazada for instance. In respect of repair on Koh Samui - ask local people.
  12. That's too vague. Usually they charge a percentage of the inheritance. At least this is what I know from the countries I have to deal with in Europe.
  13. I don't want to take over your topic. But perhaps it is of interest for you too. I have the same situation that you have. I have no children and have never been married, no dependents, so basically no family. To sum it up - a very relaxed life. ???????????? In respect of my will. In addition to the written form I made a video where I show it and read it out. Legally this is not necessary. But perhaps it will help. Since I have bank accounts in different countries I am worried if my Thai beneficiary will be able to handle this. So I talked to the banks what documents they need. Mostly they need a certificate of inheritance from Thailand. This was perhaps great news because in some European countries this can be very expensive. Does anyone know the fees here in Thailand? I couldn't find any information on Google.
  14. Every Wednesday.
  15. You want that they use your ATM card to withdraw money from your accounts when you are dead? I think this is not a good idea since legally they are not the owners (yet).
  16. It is important to find out which provider works best at your location. In regard of monthly packages I have an AIS 30 Mbps unlimited data for 235 Baht a month. You will not get such a package at AIS. You will have to buy it at Lazada. If you don't know how let me know it. There are many different packages from True. DTAC, AIS and whatever. You will get many of them only at Lazada or Shopee. Not at True, DTAC or AIS. Which package do you use now?
  17. It's time the existing Beach Road Highway gets more lanes and more parking space. The existing traffic lights should be removed since nobody really cares about them. The beach, which is particularly unused at night, could also be converted into additional noisy bar zones to attract even more quality tourists. And we need public toilets and dressing rooms there, which can also be used for a short-time experience.
  18. First you have to find out which provider works best at your location. I just installed a SIM router and tested True Move, DTAC and AIS at my location. For packages you should look at Lazada. At the moment I have a 30 Mbps unlimited data from AIS for 235 Baht a month. Works great at my location.
  19. Here in Pattaya many bars belong to farangs. I will never forget the farang bar owner who proudly told me he has short time rooms now. If you look mainly at Central Pattaya - it's a big red light district (including Beach Road). At night time you see mostly male farangs looking for booze and sex. But obviously these are the quality tourists Pattaya really wants to attract. Since more and more bars are opened I have no other explanation.
  20. It depends on many things. The location. On the router (it seems to be great and perhaps I will not risk to upgrade the 2016 firmware...). On the WiFi speed. On the 4G signal strength. How many users are connected to this 4G antenna and what they do. The weather and whatever. I have no final verdict yet. So far the router and the AIS SIM work great . The router has CAT 4. My high-end tablet might show much better speeds. But I want to use the Internet with the router. What surprised me is I didn't even look for a good router location in my condo. Tests with True Move and DTAC I did next to the window. There was the best signal and speed. At the moment the router stands in the middle of the condo. But again. This is not my final verdict yet. I will report my "real world" Internet experience here later. There is for instance the Fireworks Festival pretty soon with many thousands of people in Central Pattaya. Will I still have Internet then? So let's wait and see...
  21. To make you happy. I just did a test for you with testmy.net. Here is the result.
  22. Please stop this discussion. testmy.net was completely useless in my experience. Perhaps my opinion does not count that much. But look what cnet.com says https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/best-speed-tests/
  23. Yesterday I received my AIS SIM card - 30 Mbps with unlimited data. My first experience with AIS. Until now I tested True Move and DTAC. So far I am impressed - see the data in the picture. Of course it depends on your location. It seems to be perfect for me and I did not even look for a perfect location of the router in my condo yet - I get 100 % signal quality. But will check it more closely the next days/weeks. What counts in the end are not speed test results but the "real world" usage experience. Can it really replace my existing 3BB VDSL connection? The results are with the SIM card router. Thank you Roo for it again ???????????? I didn't test it with the tablet.
  24. Maybe all of Central Pattaya - it has become a massive red light district in recent years.
  25. He is simply at the wrong location. In Pattaya he would fit in perfectly... ☺️☺️☺️
