aa. Correct. I am at fault here, and responsible for any delays in getting to the bottom of this issue. bb. All three UPS units were purchased at the same time, within days of each other, about 30 days ago. Purchased from JIB near RAM Hospital. cc. The meter I choose must show voltage, and also show whether or not a line is properly grounded. (Amperage reporting would also be nice, but not necessary. The voltage here is so unstable that the multimeter is a must-have device.) dd. In this case, I am reporting whatever I see/measure, and without resorting to poetic license. I will not be able to make further measurements until the washing-machine man returns to fit a drainpipe and ground.... Until then...then....

I will not be able to test the voltage until the washing-machine technicians return with their volt meter. I will test again, at that time, later in the week. Also, I have looked at the specs for this unit, and you can see that there is no output voltage specified. Only a range for input voltage is stated. https://www.se.com/th/en/product/BV1000I-MST/apc-easy-ups-1000va-floor-wall-mount-230v-4x-universal-outlets-avr/ In addition, after a power outage, and even though it seems that power has been restored by PEA, still one of the units will continue to beep 4-times, even though the other two units are usable. Apparently, these units are quite sensitive to low power from the grid, or at least one of them is. I also have two other APC UPS units which I am unable to use here due to the poor quality electric power being supplied, it seems.
-
No, I am not. The UPS, all three units, is connected to the PEA grid at time of measurement. Also, you can see that this design is not an ONLINE UPS. Therefore, it seems strange that there is this voltage discrepancy, since it is my understanding that the UPS does not switch to battery until milliseconds after power outage....transfer time is about 6ms, and 10 ms, maximum...for this particular design.

Six foot 2... And... Eyes of Blue? -
Scenario (actual conditions, in fact): a. I have three identical APC UPS units: BV1000I-MST b. The voltage in this house is, as I just measured, 230 Volts. c. I measured the output voltage from all three UPS units: range is from 206 to 207 volts AC d. So, why the discrepancy? My only thought is that perhaps the volt meter I am using is not a True-RMS device? Any thoughts? Very strange, as usual. Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
GammaGlobulin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
All is good, except for the possibility of increasing numbers of digital nomads. These are just the new hippies of our modern age. I did not like the hippies of the 60s. Same goes for the nomads of the past decade. When are they going to make it easier for those on a retirement visa? That would be nice. I think the retirement-visa guys among us are underappreciated. People on retirement obey the laws, respect the local culture, and spend a lot of money which is totally brought in from other countries. We should get more respect. -
Hi Folks, Yesterday, I purchased Picasso mattress protectors from Lotus store. I purchased the wrong size because I just chose a "twin" instead of going by the actual dimensions. I will need to return the mattress protectors, anyway. And now, I realize that there might be better options than the Picasso brand/design, although I don't know much about what is best in order to avoid dust-mite infestation of pillows and mattress. I require pillow protectors and mattress protectors: a. Pillow protectors look like these... https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbes-personal-shopper/article/best-pillow-protectors/ So, what brand in Thailand might be as good as what Forbes says is good in the American market? I think a good pillow protector should protect from mites, dust, sweat, and anything that discolors the pillow. It's best to begin using the protectors when you buy a new pillow, obviously. Does it need to be waterproof, or not? I would say it does, at least in Thailand due to the hot climate. b. Mattress protectors.... These are important if you want to protect your investment in your mattress; I would imagine. Again, why not refer to this Forbes comparison of mattress protectors....! And after one does, then the question becomes what brand/design to buy which is available at a store in Thailand. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbes-personal-shopper/article/best-mattress-protectors/ C. I need good quality and reliability. Also, I need comfort when I sleep. I normally only buy 100-percent natural fibers, and almost exclusively COTTON. However, I think that I can get away with using something that is not all cotton...as long as I am still able to use cotton pillowcases and cotton sheets. My main concern is the dust mite problem around here. Once the mite infests, you might as well just get rid of your mattress or pillow, is my belief. I will return to Lotus either tomorrow or the next day... So, anyone know what is best to buy? The pillows I use are fairly large, and so I am concerned that some of the pillow protectors might not be large enough. Also, what about a zippered pillow protector? Seems like the way to go.... And, the protector should, ideally, be breathable (or permeable) to some extent, but also be water resistant enough to protect the pillow. I find shopping to always be my worst-ever experience in Thailand. I hate shopping in Thailand. Shopping in the USA is a pleasure by comparison, though I have not shopped there since before Bill Clinton was elected. Thanks for the help, as usual... No doubt others might thank me for posting this Topic. Regards, Gamma Note: I still find it a bit weird that this forum seems to not have any dedicated sub-forum for bedding, since bedding is probably the most difficult thing to source in Thailand, at a reasonable price, for excellent quality. China is far easier, by comparison, at least from my experience.

Just a note which was missing from the above: The thing about Bill is... Two months ago, I am quite certain that Bill's YT channel would not have popped up on my computer, uninvited. But then... The Biden Trump debate turned everything upside down, and we finally were able to see a bit more of what was happening behind the scenes. These days, maybe we are now watching programming, such as that of Bill and his No Spin Zone, that we would never have clicked on, before the Harris woman was offered up as the Democrats' presidential candidate. Things are now happening in 2024 that would have seemed UNTHINKABLE in 2023....such as... THIS, for one. I would never have watched SkyNews 6 months ago...but now? I am enjoying this ... HUGELY...and I would bet that others are doing the same: Our Lives are becoming Hilarious, now...! And so, I want to hear from Bill, and I want to know what Bill makes of this craziness...because At least, I think, he represents a barometer from my past, when our world was not so strange.

British Man, 27, Vanishes in Thailand Before Flight Home
GammaGlobulin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is Completely CRAZY: a. Almost nobody decides to come to Thailand and then leave before they are forced to leave, usually due to visa expiration. b. Everyone wants to stay LONGER in Thailand, and never SHORTER. c. Therefore, this decision to suddenly reschedule his flight home from August 3 to July 26 is almost totally incomprehensible....unless.... Maybe something bad happened to this guy, July 25th,.... And then, he SUDDENLY decided to get out of Dodge. Maybe he was being threatened or intimidated by someone nefarious. Maybe the ladyboys were after him, or some gambling debt, or something that scared him to the very center of his core. As I stated: Nobody leaves Thailand before they have to. Some even take flying leaps in the airport when they realize that they must leave Thailand. So, this makes no sense. -

Please keep in mind that you are now dealing with an AI, and probably a Chinese-developed AI, same as those used by BaiDu, WeiChat, and others. These AIs make decisions based on behavior and outcome probability, and not on the behavior or issues of any particular user, such as you. This is why I am getting off/away from online ordering, wherever possible. I will buy at stores, and at restaurants, and will stop using apps to buy anything, or do anything, such as Internet Banking. Things can only continue to deteriorate....as the individual progressively loses importance and value for the companies that operate online everything. -
I agree with you. I like guys who are intelligent. Also, even though he went to Yale, he is still OK. He should have chosen Columbia, or that school in PA, or, whatever. I just do not much care for Cornell or Yale. Birds of a Feather, both schools! (Note: I think, if the truth were known, he is actually an atheist.) Note: I think that both Biden and Harris have now made me a Republican. Incredible!

Yes. I agree. Add to this, pedicure....almost anywhere. I do not go for massages. I do not go to get my nails clipped. I do not go to the barber, either, although this has less to do with transmission of disease. Think of skin diseases such as IMPETIGO, for example. Do you really want to expose yourself to surfaces such as this which have not been thoroughly treated? I go to a great dentist who cares very much about limiting transmission of disease. This is important. There is no real necessity to have a massage or a pedicure. Better to just avoid potential pathways for disease if this can be avoided. One can save money, as well, by avoiding massage and pedicure and haircuts at a shop.
