Honestly, I am completely shocked that this did not begin happening, and even more forcefully, at least three decades ago. This cannot continue...is my guess. Slow and gradual assimilation is possible without causing social disruption. However, during the past few decades, change is occurring at lightening speed....! What are people in government thinking? Have they never done any extensive research in social change and social stability and rampant influx of "others", and much, much more???

What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?
GammaGlobulin replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in General Topics
No worries. This machine from GE costs a lot more and spins at about 850 RPM. (The Samsung is 700 RPM) Also, as we mentioned earlier, we need to know the diameters of both washing machine drums in order to calculate the centripetal acceleration involved in order to make a comparison. https://geappliances.ca/en_CA/Laundry-Care/Washing-Machines/GE-Profile-6-2-Cu-Ft-(IEC)-Washer-with-Smarter-Wash-Technology-Sapphire-Blue--PTW900BPTRS/p/PTW900BPTRS The above price is in Canadian dollars, probably. -
What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

I changed to the 16Kgs model. Price was Bt9990. I think I overpaid...correct, or incorrect? I think, possibly, I might just have gotten a great price. I think that this model might not be the same as what you purchased? Not sure. But the difference is the BELTLESS drive, and a few other things.... Please post if you think the one you purchased is actually the same or not...Tks.... So...is this a decent price? Or...NOT....? Either way... I will not go to the trouble of returning it to the seller..! -
What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

I plan to do the same, about two months from today, after buying a second machine, a side/front-loader. -
OK. The reason, normally, is this: a. First infusion of the tea leaves...just drink it. b. Then, of course, you have a mug with tea leaves and no water. c. So just fill up the mug with ice water, and pop in the fridge. d. By morning, you have a mug of great tasting ice tea. But, this morning, the tea became exceedingly cloudy. This has never happened before. Important Note: I would like to mention that, for making iced tea, the best was is to do this. a. Add tea leaves to mug. b. Pour in 80-degree C water. c. Pour out the water into second mug. d. Drink the resultant mug of tea. e. Then, add cold water to the first mug which contains the tea leaves from the first infusion. f. Put the mug in the fridge for about 12 hours, and drink the next morning after the 12 hours have elapsed. g. The flavor of the iced tea is better than if you had made it using hot water. Don't ask me why. Also, always use either Green Tea or use something like DongDing WuLong tea. Very nice. Trust me!

What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

Good Price. Thanks for the link. Actually, maybe not too late for me, since I can use this for the clothes I wear, which I do not want to put in a top-loader. And then use the Samsung for heavy bedding. Maybe I will order this next month, after I figure out where to put it, and whether or not I need to knock a hole in the wall to accommodate the drain pipe. I would also wish to ensure that the supplier is reliable. Again...Good Link!!! -

What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

As far as I could tell, this is about the cheapest front-loader on Lazada... Anyway....too late for me to change my mind at this time... Also, I will not be buying from Lazada in a long while, I expect.... -
What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

I think that Samsung appliances such as refrigerators have improved in quality. So, I am willing to give Samsung another try, and buy a Samsung washing machine. I hope it does not come with all these GARBAGE STICKERS attached. If it does, then it's going back...because....it does not look like this in the Store Ad! -
What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

Because, even though the price was good, I finally decided to purchase a different model, based upon the input from the forum, to date. I often receive great feedback from members on this forum. The feedback has saved me money, and, at times, has solved difficult purchasing problems. Today, I purchased this machine: I could not have purchased this machine without the help of the Asean-Now Forum members. Also, using this cheap/basic/no-drain-pump model will still be better than beating clothes on the rocks at the nearby riverbank. And, nobody will be stealing my cotton sheets in the future, presumably. -
What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

In a perfect world, this would not be necessary. This is why I just returned from purchasing a Samsung washing machine this noon. By the way, the machine that Samsung was advertising at the lower price was not suitable, as it used a belt drive. A belt drive is not suitable for me. I need BELTLESS DRIVE for the washing machine drum, or whatever you call it. (haha! I guessed correctly! I just checked with Google. Normally, I do not spend much time thinking about washing machines.) -
I cannot be sure about the orange one. However, this morning, the tea in my glass mug which I had just taken out of the refrigerator was just as cloudy, although it was milky green instead of milky orange. For Sure: I NEVER add milk or sugar to tea that I make myself. In Thailand, people do add milk and sugar, but I won't drink it. I do not like sweet drinks, unless it's Original Coke. Original Coke goes very well with very spicy Thai food. Also with Sichuan and Hunan food.

There seems to be a fallacy in her profitability-sugar analysis. She states that if she uses the wallet money to subsidize her sugar purchases, then this will make her business profitable. How can this be? She should save the money in her bank account. Then, in order to achieve profitability, she needs to negotiate a better price for sugar, or maybe import it in bulk, herself, using the Bt.10,000 she now has in the bank. Or, she could raise her prices to reflect her true cost of doing business. Only this way can she truly say that her business is profitable.

What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

a. I, too, like the looks of the LG-side-loader machines. But these are twice the cost of a 13Kg-capacity Samsung top-loader. b. If I did a lot of washing, and if I knew that I would be using the machine for a long period of time, and if I were a homeowner instead of a renter, then I would go with the LG, or an Hitachi side-loader. But the present situation does not justify double the cost of the Samsung. Probably I will regret this decision. I often regret my decisions (maybe not often, but sometimes). c. Also, on this Topic Thread, we must be more careful with our washing-machine-related terminology. One member here has complained about our naming a front-loading machine a "side loader". d. Why I do not watch the clothes in washing machine: To answer your question, I have never been one to become mesmerized by watching the washing machine spin, or by watching the dryer tumble clothing. When I was very young, I was often tempted to watch. But, I always fought the urge. Today, I am glad that I did. -
Dear Folks, Just this AM when I awoke, I checked the mug of tea I had prepared last night, to down this morning, the mug with the screw-on cap, and the filter to keep the leaves from falling out when I pour from the mug into the 630 ml glass with ice. And I noticed that the tea in the mug, the liquid, was completely cloudy. Cloudiness is not a good sign for a urine sample, but what about cloudy tea, fresh from the refrigerator; is this also, like one's urine sample, not fit to drink? Well the answer is, yellow tea is good to drink, even if cloudy, whereas the other yellow liquid mentioned above is not. This is the first time I have found cloudy tea in the fridge, in fact. And, believe me, it is really cloudy. I did what I always do when I see something new. I went online to find out why. I found this: I always drink Chinese Green Tea, unless I drink the Lipton Yellow Label tea, or the Black tea you can find in Black canisters at TOPS and RIMPING, which I do not especially recommend. Since I drink Chinese Green Tea, it never comes out looking as disgusting as this: So, has this ever happened to you? The strange thing, from my perspective, is the fact that this has never happened to me before. I think I will need to try to replicate this to get to the bottom of it. In order to do so, I will do what I did, which is to leave the leaves in, overnight. This should add even more tannins to the brew. Some have suggested this cloudiness might be due to some sort of "TEMPERATURE SHOCK", but I believe that whomever wrote that is just not a scientist. Who ever heard of brewed tea suffering from SHOCK? So what is your experience along the same lines as what I have described here? I would also like to mention two other Tea Anomalies, but that will need to wait for later in this Topic Thread as I must first drink my cloudy tea before it becomes clear again, which I suspect might happen if it warms up. And, for sure, I want to sample this cloudy teas so that I can report, here, on any strange tastes that I notice. Good Morning, And Regards, Gamma

I don't want to spend that much. But I agree with you that I should get a front loader. Also, if you position the front loader rotated 90 degrees, and parallel to the wall, it become a side loader. I don't do that much washing, other than bedsheets. Around the house, I rarely wear clothes; it's only when I go shopping, or go walking, that I wear them. -
You see, someone had made a humerous remark implying that I did not speak Chinese with the German girl aboard the Cargolux freighter flight.... And it seemed, therefore, only fitting that I should follow along in good spirit with such good-natured humor. In fact, if you must know, I recall that the German girl was enrolled in the Mandarin program at ShiFan University. This is the same Mandarin program that Rudd of Australia attended when he was perfecting his language skills, initially, before going to Beijing to study with ZhouEnLai. As I recall, both the German girl and I mangled the Mandarin, at the time. Neither of us had been studying for more than about 2 years. Rudd's Chinese language skills are quite good, by the way.

I once flew from Taipei to Luxembourg aboard a Cargolux freighter. On the upper deck, in the seat next to mine, I met a German girl (from Germany) who spoke very little English. Fortunately, she spoke Chinese. We, too, had good fun speaking Chinese together on the flight, which turned out to be many hours, due to a long stop in Saudi Arabia, for offloading cargo. We were unable to disembark during the offloading. I have never spoken so much Chinese to a German person, during a 24-hour period, in all my life.

That's a very good suggestion, in fact. Maybe I should reconsider and try to find someone around my house that would be willing to do my laundry. When I lived close to the uni, there were those nearby that would do wonders with their washing machines and steam irons. That is one thing that I truly miss after having left that area. (On second consideration: I think I will do both, both buy a machine, and also find someone to wash my clothes and steam iron them in a professional way. You need a very large steam press to do what I like.)
