Hi Folks, There is sick humour. There is sik (sic) humour. And, there is gallows humour. Would it be possible to endure life without humor? During the Blitz, most could not have endured without humour. The world is spiraling down. How does humor help you to cope, to remain cancer-free, and to deal with your shrew, if you have one? There is just so much to cope with in this life, stuff we never bargained for, before we were born. Sometimes, I wonder if it's worth it, just to propagate and help our species to survive. It might not be worth it to us. But, in the grand scheme of the human race to the finish line, some in the future might be thankful that we persevered, and propagated. Most people, these days, continue to contemplate lying flat. But, is this the right course of action, the correct thinking? The people such as these, the ones who lie flat, just don't seem to have a sense of humor about the human race. What about you? Is this comedy of ours a comedy of errors, or a conglomeration of mistakes? Humour is your best friend. What, these days, do you find funny? Is ANYTHING funny, these days? There was a white horse; it fell in the mud. Now...THAT....is..... FUNNY. Just depends upon your point of view. Some, don't even HAVE a point of view....and...know not.... Where they're going to. There will come a time, when you succumb to dementia, a time when....you will really find humor.... Beyond your ken. In my view, some guys here are .... ALREADY THERE..... The CocaCola company syphons off water from communities around the world, as you may know, leaving some communities without sufficient water. I once thought of doing a PhD on this types of local water source depletion caused by corporations. However, I decided against writing this thesis, simply because, personally, I have enough water for my own needs. As to the guy who needed a drink of water......? It's a sorry commentary on our world when a man cannot get a drink when needed. (You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. And, where there is water, a parched man will do almost anything to quench his thirst.) Who ever heard of denying a person, a human being, a drink of water? Such a very terrible world ours has obviously become. Glad I will be departing, just as soon as I have made preparations to rise up to be with Kurt Vonnegut, in due course, when the time is appropriate. Shame on anyone who would deny a hardworking motorbike delivery person either a drink of water, or a toilet, afterwards, when needed!

Just another UPDATE to this Topic.... The Deck Coating sold under the Brand PROTEGO turned out very well for me. (PLEASE, though, wear gloves and EYE PROTECTION .....from the moment you open the can, to the time you complete the work! I would hate to get ANY of that Protego in my eyes, or on my skin. For sure.) Water spilled on the coated wood beads up nicely, and even oils seem to wipe off clean and easily. Not bad Glop, IMHO.....

a. I agree that it is unlikely that the Stiebel machine is the culprit. (Several times in the past, when I had electrical problems in the house, the local electricians were very quick to blame my Stiebel machines. BUT, in every case, the problems involved faulty wiring, done by the local electricians.) b. I live in CM. However, wherever you are, then you might just place a call to Stiebel, in case you want to have the machine checked for any potential problem. It cots nothing to ask Stiebel. And, who knows, you might end up being pleasantly surprised; they provide excellent service. And they just might have a company technician that could stop by your locale when visiting other customers. I would definitely give it a try. Normally, the set fee from Stiebel is BAHT500 per service call. Or, this is what it is outside of CM. And, they are extremely prompt if, for any reason, the machine stops working, even if the problem might not be due to the Stiebel machine. c. Although it's a matter of personal preference, I, personally, detest fluorescent lighting in the house. Instead of those fluorescent light "rings", I detached those and installed single bulbs, some Panasonic florescent soft warm bulbs, or those LED bulbs (single bulbs), in warm white, or soft white, depending upon the brand. d. If you have an electrical wiring problem in the ceiling wiring to the lighting fixtures, then maybe this would be an excuse to improve the types of lights being used, according to personal preference. (sorry if this might not be as helpful as I had hoped...) Further Note: The recessed ceiling-light socket/housings that fit up into the ceiling, which are designed for a single bulb, are quite inexpensive...and look quite nice. (Comfortable Lighting is important for wellbeing, IMHO...)

I actually have TWO of the same power Stiebel water heaters. Or, mine is rated at 8000 watts. These hot water heaters will draw about 37 AMPS with the voltage supplied in Thailand. When you first turn on the water heater, it will draw slightly more AMPS. But very quickly, the voltage drops from 220 to about 200 or so. And the AMPs goes down to about 37. This type of machine requires a 40 AMP circuit breaker. Also, if you contact Stiebel, they will send out their company technician to check everything for about Bt.500, judging by my experience in CM. Stiebel is a very good company, I think. (I have TWO DHC 8 XG machines. They are great. These machines allow for fine graduated water temperature control. I doubt there is anything wrong with these machines. And, if you want to check, then just contact STIEBEL for a company man to come to inspect. They know what they are doing. Smart guys in CM>)

Absolutely, it definitely is a very nice campus. Very relaxed. The people there are all very nice and welcoming. The students are respectful of old people, too, and helpful if some old person might ask for directions, etc. The campus is one of the best places to spend time in Chiang Mai...maybe for walking around the reservoir, or reading a book under a tree, or relaxing at one of the coffee shops. If you don't have enough time, this visit, then maybe next time. The food in the student cafeterias, I enjoy every much, and it's the cheapest place to eat, and they do a great job of preparing the food hygienically. Never got sick once, to quote the Purple Berries song.

By the way: If you have never been there, the CMU campus is large and beautiful, with plenty of places to relax and stroll among the sights of nature. If I had 7 hours in Chiang Mai, then I would spend all of the time on the campus of Chiang Mai University, and would be sorry to leave at the end of the day.

OK, this is not a JOKE Topic. Neither is this a "bashing" Topic, for either East Asians or Southeast Asians. I would like to hear thoughts, supported by both evidence citations, supporting any claims made on this Topic. I have lived a loooong time in both East Asia and Southeast Asia. Although, I have not been very interested in this subject, until recently, when, for whatever reasons, I tried to have appliances serviced, repaired, or when I tried to communicate with the average person concerning more technical issues, such as anything involved with modern science, with light electrical engineering issues, or even why the world works the way it does. When I refer to intelligence, I am referring to the IQ test, and also to General Intelligence as it is accurately defined by most social scientists, and natural scientists. Personally, I have never lived in an area so chockfull of intelligent humans, as when I lived in HK, Taiwan, Japan, Shanghai, and...even....Beijing. The guys in Shanghai are smarter than the guys in Beijing. Everybody knows this. Shanghai once was, and probably still is, one of the banking centers of Asia. Singapore? Singapore is a mixed bag, and there are a few intelligent people there, but most, since Singapore is basically a backwater hardship port, are nothing special, and the average English spoken in Singapore is notoriously deficient, as everybody in the world knows. Therefore, this Topic is posted in search of some answers to the very important issue of what makes East Asian people smarter, and Southeast Asian people less smart, by about 17 IQ points. If possible, support your claims with citations using some accepted citing format, and make your claims logical, too, if you can. This is NOT a topic where bashing will be tolerated. For us Americans, such greatness as that of Norman is not often known. And, in truth, I had never heard of Norman until last week, when I watched this flick. Such GENIUS, folks. THIS is my idea of pure genius. I have no idea whether or not his other films might be up to this level. However, this film is rather special, I think. Are there any other of Norman's films that can compare? Norman is no Peter Sellers. Yet, Norman has something.....something fine. He also seems to have had quite a big ego, enough for two or three average size men, although he was tiny in physical stature. Any crazy thoughts about Norman? In the recent past, yes. Anyone can use the pool, for a fee. I forget the price; but maybe Bt.50, or so. It is a a very nice pool. There are times when the pool is available to anyone, but you need to shower before entering the pool, I think. Note: Please do call and check for times and availability...because....in Thailand...all is constantly in a state of flux.

Visit Chiang Mai University. Plenty of coffee shops there. You could probably plunge into the university swimming pool. Also, you could hire a student to give you a few hours of basic Thai language instruction. There are student cafeterias there with quite good food. That is what I would do, anyway.

I purchased the Intel i5-13600K from JIB for about Bt.11800.00 And, I chose the Thermaltake cooler which is compatible, just as long as I do not overclock the CPU, which I never need to do: The CPU was released about 18 months ago. That's perfectly understandable. Actually, and honestly, I am quite worried about my friends the Chinese, these days. The disillusionment there seems to be palpable. I really have no gut feeling or predictions how this lying flat thing will evolve. Surely, though, we are watching, from the sidelines, some interesting times.
