  1. I am not a prude. However, too much debauchery becomes boring, after one gets one's fill. Are we Men, Mice, or Bonobo? Your guess is as good as mine.
  2. TINDER is sort of a new concept, an app which allows handsome people to hookup with handsome people, instead of resorting to the backrooms, the alley, the trusty woods. Do you use TINDER to hookup, even if you might be over 65? And, if you are over 65, using TINDER, how much in and out do you get? And, if you get enough in and out, how long can you keep it up before you get tired, and just finally...call it quits. TINDER is a strange beast, an app that might be OK for very old men, but certainly not so good for very young women. Anyway... Any thoughts about TINDER? And, any thoughts about TINDER if it was your lovely and beloved daughter who might be using TINDER? What has this world come to? Your guess is as good as mine. I really do not understand this app. Or, maybe, I understand it just too well. NG, is my first thought. Some day, the pendulum will swing back. But, perhaps, by then, no man will still be alive.... In the year, 2525. I knew it. TINDER. TINDER was predictable. Aldous Huxley told me, too.
  3. Also, why would any man or woman wish to anoint themselves with sweet smelling oils, now that we have hot showers? Not living in the desert, we have access to soap and water. Personally, I just love the smell of a woman, a woman in her natural state, just the smell of her is something I truly love. There is no need for fragrances, provided the woman (or man) is healthy. The smell of a woman is like french-fries: Whom amongst us, smelling a french-fry, can help but take a bite?
  4. I just read a topic here concerning fragrances. In my opinion, one of the worst things that can happen to one is to have a roommate who both sprinkles JADE EAST, and also listens to Dylan's Lay, Lady, Lay, over and over, while smelling himself. This happened to me in 1965. This roommate stunk up the whole room with Jade East, and also with Dylan, a highly overrated artist, if you could even call Dylan an artist, even though he did get the Nobel, which signifies absolutely NOTHING. No doubt, my roomate must have been an up-and-coming Ladyboy, for sure. Nice guy, however, except he was heavy with the Jade East fragrance. Also, the Chinese characters in this ad are not so good. Maybe, Real Men were not meant to sprinkle fragrances on their bodies? You can, if you wish. It's up to you. Best.
  5. Sometimes, when one thinks of Norman Mailer, then one's mind begins to stray to the likes of Norman Bates. Whether or not you might feel this way, at least hopefully, tomorrow morning, over coffee and toast, you might enjoy this Cavett interview. Although Dick Cavett was born in Nebraska, some say he actually hailed from Wales. He had a barb to his tongue. Enjoy.
  6. My Dearest Friends, aa. As you may know, some guys here prefer to have something interesting to wake up to, in the mornings, besides listening to their wives, in Thailand. bb. And so, sometimes I feel great angst for them, and some sort of responsibility to provide a diversion from their wives, while drinking their coffee in the mornings. Please believe me, I do feel this heavy burden, rather often. cc. And so, you can imagine how happy I was to find this wonderful confrontation between Cavett, Gore Vidal, Norman Mailer, and some extremely intelligent old bag from the New Yorker, a woman I have always found smarter and more refreshing than most men. dd. When this Dick Cavett show first aired, I was somewhere between Ras Tanura and Danang. And, it was just two days ago that I finally found this great debate, complete with headbutting, after missing it the first time in 1971. ee. Dick Cavett was from Yale, and maybe also from Wales, but I am not sure about the last part. Or, maybe he was from Nebraska. ff. Seems as if Cavett is still alive, today. Amazing, and more power to this wonderful man. gg. I do not wish to get sidetracked here. The New Yorker lady, smart as a tack, who appeared with Mailer and Gore is was Janet Flanner. hh. Well, anyway, back in the day, watching the Cavett show was truly stimulating and amazing. And, did you know that Cavett was/is an introvert? Huge anxiety before each broadcast, according to him. ii. So, anyway, if you are interested, over your coffee, tomorrow morning, then you might further investigate this interview, including the headbutting of Mailer on Vidal, and so many other interesting things. Because, in Thailand, is it not nice to have something to research on the Internet while one exists in the jungle of SE Asia, over coffee, in the mornings? jj. When I first read TV, I did not realize I had so much in common with souls here, until someone suggested I go to the Farang Pub. And, I am so happy for this advice. kk. There is no doubt that some of you, over coffee, tomorrow morning, will thank me for this gift, this link, which I will post below. Anything we can do in order to distract ourselves from this ennui in the jungle is always so very welcome. LMNOP: Best to all of you, guys who wake in the mornings, and enjoy good coffee, read the London Times, and the NYT, as well. If you do not like this link, then, so solly, because, in my opinion, it is priceless. Very best, Regards, Glob Note: Enjoy your coffee, tomorrow morning. As you know, I care about you, like brothers. Note2: If this Cavett thing, this kind of entertainment, is now behind us, then what might we have to look forward to? And, if there is just pabulum, then what is the point of rolling out of bed, unless one might have some very young thing from Pattaya? (Far better to be stimulated intellectually, rather than sexually, in my humble opinion, any day)
  7. You are so right. There is really no point in doing so. And, cheating on one's spouse causes such great harm to another person. Enjoy Ice Storm, if you please. I am sure, with your sensibility, you will enjoy it. Tks for your thoughts.
  8. Thank you very much for recounting this experience. But, as you know, when we, here, think of a Moynihan, we sometimes think of: Moynihan who represented New York in the Senate from 1977 to 2001. He served as Chairman of the Senate Environment Committee from 1992 to 1993 and as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee from 1993 to 1995. He also led the Moynihan Secrecy Commission, which studied the regulation of classified information. Very doubtful that Daniel Patrick Moynihan would attend Ronnie Scott's; not much is secret there, maybe. Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scott's is classic. And, of course you know who was sitting in the audience.....guys from Led Zeppelin, as I recall, and maybe a few other notables.
  9. Starvation, culturally speaking, is a relative term. In order to answer the question posed in the above topic, we should compare ourselves to the reality of history, and then decide whether or not the OP's question even makes sense in the context of reality. Maybe the OP should step into a time machine, and live a few days during the Cultural Revolution. Doing so might affect his warped lens. Get a better perspective, and be thankful for what you already have, and then, if you are lucky, you might reap further rewards as our world takes baby steps to democracy. Unfortunately for us, however, these baby steps toward democracy may come too late to save us from ourselves. And we will probably succumb to the fate of our own making, and before we finally realize that the Keeling Curve was not just the end of a hokey stick. Surely, with little doubt, we are doomed by our unwillingness to see the future and then cooperate on a global scale. After so many years, with absolute no change in behavior, and with the intensity of CO2 emissions rising, there is really no reason for optimism. And, the window of opportunity for a livable future is almost closed. We are almost at a point where work outdoors in places in India will no longer be possible. And if this situation worsens, as we know it will, then what? This will be a true cultural revolution when millions and billions are unable to survive in their own countries.
  10. Dear God, To be poor in culture is acceptable. If only I had a little bit of.....TRADITION!
  11. Penetrating trauma from writing instruments, such as a pencil, is not an uncommon source of injury and often requires surgical intervention to remove the object. Injuries from pens and pencils can be severe or even fatal, as you POINT out.
  12. Please post the links to the information you have read so that readers here can gain further insight concerning what you suggest, that the use of mouthwash may lead to problems. Whether or not the regular use of mouthwash has positive or negative consequences, or both, seems certain. There are certainly negative effects which result from the use of anything which has positive effects. This includes mother's milk, in some cases. Mother's milk is not bad, yet, in some instances, it might lead to unexpected negative outcomes.
  13. I always considered that Germany had a very high level of art and culture, next to Bali, of course, and...I still do. So does Chomsky, if you read him. Was Beethoven so bad? Yes, he was. But, his music was OK. Brahms was OK. Strauss? Telemann, is not good. Mendelssohn is quite nice. What about Ralf HĂĽtter, though? Not so sure about him.
  14. Factory girls are the best. A factory girl, with stains all down her dress.
  15. If it was culture I were seeking, I would go to Ronnie Scott's.
  16. Here is an interesting, though not very amusing, cautionary tale concerning ingestion of a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide... This guy is legit, and his family is from Taiwan, so you know he is smart: Enjoy....... Also, if you wish to know what happened to a woman who ate 23 bananas, this guy, originally from Taiwan, a smart guy who studied in the USA, can tell you.
  17. I believe that one of the nice things I may have to look forward to, during my impending and inescapable period of dementia, should I live so long, and when I am incarcerated in a home for invalids, is to watch this Ang Lee film playing repeatedly before me, over and over, on a high-quality 3D headset. I grew up in a neighborhood just like the one pictured in this film. Same people. Same-same. I loved it. Such nostalgia do I feel, just watching this classic film. Thank you, Ang Lee, wherever you are.
  18. If you reacted as I did, the first time I saw this movie, and I have viewed it several times during the past 25 years, you would have been surprised that some guy out of Taiwan could create such a magnificent film. How did he do it, many questioned, coming from such an insular island as Taiwan. Maybe it is because Ang Lee is a genius, a director who also created Eat, Drink, Man, Woman, another film which was, and still is, dear to our hearts, even after the setting of that film has completely changed as a result of so many political redirections and intrigue on the island of Formosa. Two spectacular films. How has ICE STORM affected you? This film is a retrospective view, though not completely accurate, of the times we knew well in the late 60s. Maybe, like you, I wait for about five years between viewings, and then I watch ICE STORM once again, just to relive my youth, and love doing so. One of the things I find most endearing about this film is the bowl full of car keys, a lottery to swap husbands and wives for sex, even better than a Thailand full moon party . The thing which impresses me most about this film is just how much Ang Lee gets right about those great times in the 1960s. Up tight, upper crust, and still getting down with neighbors husbands and wives in neighborhoods I remember so well. I just wish that things could be so free, today, in my neighborhood here where I am. Great film from Ang Lee. Also, an amazing conclusion to the film. Same-same everywhere, when you party too hardy, even here in Thailand, you often end up with a rather sorrowful ending. Ang Lee: ICE STORM Such an amazing film that is unforgettable, even now. Enjoy. Regards, Glob Note: If you might be feeling bored, now that the virus has become endemic, perhaps this film might do the trick for you.... And, this film might remind you of home.....if you are feeling homesick.
  19. Careful, please, about not getting too high concentration of hydrogen peroxide. Too high of a concentration can be quite dangerous, as you know, (if inadvertently ingested).
  20. Regarding the geriatric Rolling Stones, these guys are always rather tongue-in-cheek, deep down, and therefore one cannot get enough of them, and they even improve with age, surprisingly. Our expectation is that after Mick passes, he will rise from the grave, all bones, but with lipstick, too. Mick is a god, almost as great as JS Bach. As you know, Mick put on a great show, sort of toying around, for Obama. Maybe he will do it again, but for you, personally, if you ask him, and if you are great enough.
  21. Will 2022 become the pivotal year dividing what once was from what will represent our sorrier lot in life? My Dearest Endearing Friends, Some of you may not recall the Great War of July 1914 through November 1918, involving numerous countries, and causing death and hardship for our grandparents and great grandparents. Still, some of you, very few of you, may recall the year 1918, dimly, if you are lucky. If you recall this Great War, and it was truly great, then you will remember that this was a turning point in social order, a time of leveling of the upper crust, for example. And now, here we are, once more. We are poised, sitting on this divide, a division which will change society and social order in dramatic ways from what it has been to what it will become. Here are a few reasons, among many, why 2022 will become the year which divides us from our past. aa. We just received the IPCC report which is, as expected, just more of what was predicted during the last IPCC report. Except, this time, the IPCC tells us that its new report is more dire. And this was expected, also. The IPCC is a governmental panel, and so, the IPCC must kiss the ass of all governments, and therefore cannot actually report on real science without the approval of governments. This means that the IPCC is just soft-pedalling and downplaying the actual thinking of most scientists. And, unfortunately, Mother Nature will not be listening to the IPCC. bb. And now, we have this Ukrainian thing, which is not a small thing, this year, 2022. The Ukrainian thing, as we can see, involves the world, and important alliances, which have the possibility to draw the world into increased confrontations and conflict. cc. Recalling the Great War, the Great War was a turning point for much of society. Some might say that we lost our innocence, what little we had, during the Great War. And, maybe the Great War even led to the Flappers. dd. What we probably can expect is that, after this Covid virus, similar to the Spanish Flu in its effect on the world, is that its impact will cause follow-on effects, not necessarily flappers, but likely far worse. In fact, when something bad happens, like a Great War, or a pandemic, then the flap hits the fan, but good. We know this from history. ee. We can probably expect to see a few Phoney Wars before we finally see the Greatest War to end all wars, FOR SURE! ff. However, preliminarily, before we see this Greatest of All Wars, the Mother of All Wars, we are likely to see a sea change in our social order around the world, similar to the repercussions caused by the events of the years, 1914 through 1919, which saw a fairly major upheaval, as you will recall. gg. There is no point in listing here what you already know is ongoing, and unstoppable, due to the momentum in the system; I mean the momentum in the CO2 emissions, and the momentum caused by these emissions during the past 100 years. Everyone here, any person who can read has already read the science. Instead, let us speak about how to cope with this fear of what we all expect will happen on Earth, what will happen due to our inattention to detail and negligence, if we might be willing, and not hide our heads in the sand. So, knowing that we all wish to hide our heads, I have stopped worrying. And, instead of worrying, I have come to love the Thai myna bird. Watching the Thai myna birds interact with one another, flitting around and vocalizing incessantly, has become one of my greatest pleasures. Maybe, if we do not destroy ourselves before next week, then I will upload some interesting photos of these intelligent social creatures. hh. Speaking of Flappers, and thinking of the Ukraine, here are some flappers from the 1920s: ii. I wish I had some interesting video of Thai myna birds, the birds which always lift my spirits, no matter how down I might feel about the state of the world.... BUT, there is no need, because, if you are in Thailand, then you know that these fantastic and miraculous birds are now back, in force, in Thailand, and doing what they do best. I love these birds...so much! Take care, everybody, Regards, Glob
  22. My Dear Friends, In fact, during most of my life, I have never used a mouthwash. The reason for my reluctance to buy mouthwash is that I had been convinced that the advertising behind mouthwash use was hogwash. And then, recently, I read a few seemingly trustworthy articles which purport to draw a correlation between the use of mouthwash and the reduction of dental plaque, which might lead to decreased tooth decay, etc. And then, after reading these articles, I hastened out to buy a certain well-known brand of mouthwash which comes in about 4 colors. Of course, at least in my opinion, there is not reason enough for so many colors, and just the yellow mouthwash should be adequate for most purposes. Well, anyway, I just wished to mention this because, during this season of the virus, when it is more difficult to get to the dentist, maybe using mouthwash might do some good, and even a minimal amount of benefit is better than nothing. I really cannot believe I bought two bottles of mouthwash last time I visited the mall complex. Actually, I paid for one, and received one bottle free, as a promotion. Now, my breath is kissingly fresh. I don't use mouthwash every day, but only on odd days of the month, in order to not develop a habit, and to prevent the bacteria in my mouth from becoming resistant to this brand of mouthwash. I now highly recommend using a decent mouthwash for the purposes advertised on the bottle. Truly, I do feel better in the mornings, as a result. Just passing on a bit of folklore, here, which might help others. Regards, Glob
