  1. I go to day markets quite often, most people use bank transfer they even have the QR codes on the stalls of the markets. Although I am in more urban areas where everyone has phones and it's usually the younger tech savvy generation. I.e, pleonchit/siam and rangsit is where I stay.
  2. No one uses cash anymore, at least not the younger generation. Bank transfers is what everyone uses in Thailand. You just scan a QR code and the amount and hit send.
  3. Sounds like he should have got a 4th dose, effectiveness probably wore off after a year.
  4. You get what you pay for with surgeries in my opinion, I’ve always used bangkok hospital. if someone is doing work just as good as a hospital they’ll be charging near their price, no one’s running a charity where they’ll invest in the same equipment and do the same quality of work but charge significantly less. only other place I’d go to if I had to is bangkok smile dental clinic, at least they are partnered with Thai elite so it has some affiliation/reputation to uphold
  5. Yea I meant visa exempt, maybe I’ll ask the visa agency again if it matters
  6. after discussing with a visa agent, they advised me it's safer to do a tourist visa, I already submitted the application for the tourist visa so hopefully it gets approved in time, if not I will take the flight and try to do the Visa on arrival, if it gets denied, i might just go to Vietnam until the tourist visa gets approved they said the 15 month covid extention may pose some issues getting a visa on arrival, also, they noted that volunteer visa's also could be an issue (not that i have one, just mentioning it just incase someone else does)
  7. Cool so 75 days before I need to find a way to stay longer, that’s good enough for me thanks a ton!
  8. thank you for the link, i'll book the ticket tonight, hope they don't slap me with the "you stayed for 15 months already" i have a few stories up my sleeve which are legitament, i'll bring a bunch of documents to back it up, have a concert ticket as well im taking the gf too so maybe that will help do you know if they're still doing 30 day extensions for visa exempts? i was shocked when i read they aren't on the canadian/thai embassy website
  9. I know it was 45 days when I first came, but it said 45 days in the Thai visa application website and Canadian Thai embassies back then, now it’s changed to 30 do you think it’s a country by country bases? Maybe I’ll give the embassy an email to confirm. Would be bad to go thinking it’s 45 days and show up getting denied cause it’s 30 days and I don’t have the right flight out (by Thai visa application website I mean when you select “do I need a visa” and then put your country, it says how many days you can stay without a visa, now it is showing Canada is 30, but in 2021 when I first came I remember it said 45)
  10. Not trying to say you’re wrong but do you have any website that says this? mainly the 45 day visa exempt, if this is the case I’ll just switch my flight now, 45 days is more than enough for the 2 flights I got on a sweet discount ($6000 down to $2000) I’ll call my travel insurance to see if they’ll cover me if I get denied by immigrations. If I didn’t stay for like 15 months literally up until a month ago I wouldn’t be worried, even I would be suspicious if I was an IO and some guy came on a visa exempt, stayed 15 months, left for 30-45days and came back to “tour” Thailand. I have all the documents showing proof of stay/accommodation/funds, etc. the only thing I’m worried about is if they’ll deny me just based off staying too long and not being a “tourist” in their eyes.
  11. The visa on arrival is spooking me out is it 45 days now? I read the Canadian thailand embassy website which says it’s 30 days only now The language with how you’re only allowed 30 days stay, no extensions and that you’re only allowed to stay 90days maximum over a 6 month period is worrying me. Not sure if it’s just not translated correctly. I was on a visa exempt in 2021 June and extended cause covid until November 2022 (although leaving in October) wouldn’t this mean I’ve exceeded my 90 days per 6 month period? Just want to avoid getting rejected at immigrations and wasting $3000 on plane tickets. Plus with tourist visa I’d get 60 days + 30 extension which may be enough for me this trip. I have some business to do in Canada in spring of 2023 I’ve attached in quotes the words on the Thai Canada embassy website “ ”
  12. thanks, i applied for a tourist visa but if it doesn't get approved in time i'll just do the visa on arrival, hopefully no issues theres no more quarantines or anything right? my plan is to go straight to my condo after i am just bringing proof of residency (lease), proof of funds (bank statement & cash), passport, return flight confirmation, proof of residence in canada (bank statement), i'll have travel insurance too but it's on my credit card benefits
  13. the wise card gives fee free ATM withdrawals? i use my card in thailand and have compared the fees to a wise transfer, they're about the same, the only time i use wise is when I need cash in thailand or paying rent because a card would incur cash advance interest.
  14. maybe i'll get one to test if it works with grab, my canadian credit card doesn't
  15. I am in my 20's and use my credit card, it has the same fees as wise, i've done a comparison, might save you 1 or 2% max, which is about $10-$20 per $1000 spent which you get back with cashback anyways, it might even end up costing more.
  16. Do you still need any travel insurance/health insurance for tourist visa's or visa on arrivals?
  17. whats the point of a wise card? just use your normal bank card? makes no sense
  18. The ponzi falling apart continues with ftx going insolvent.
  19. Went today can confirm, check in > security > immigration > boarding gate was a breeze no issues was through it all in less than 30 minutes I guess no one is travelling, airport was fairly empty.
  20. Hey are you sure security checks are after immigration and not before? I noticed someone said security is before immigration in this thread and an online video showed the same
  21. I like Bangkok hospital , quite pricey though but I prefer to get high quality care
  22. You just need some quiet time to yourself, meet some interesting people and you'll find some purpose in life and understand yourself better, really can be anywhere, hope you find what you're looking for. I spend a little over a year in Thailand, can't say I've succeeded in understanding myself completely yet but I have some better insights on life. Have to say as a person who lived in a big city my whole life, it was nice finding out theres a whole other world that exists out there, feels like living in a complete different planet. I am actually kind of thinking of visiting some other countries now.
