I "think" we are saying the same thing. The act as I read it says the card company can be held responsible. My point was that MasterCard and Visa have rules and they indicate that the issuing bank provides the same protection for people using those cards. While that may be in the regulation, banks have traditionally pursued investigating charge transactions more aggressively than debit transactions. Consider, if you don't like the ruling from the credit card company you can always say, I just wont pay the invoice when it comes due. You can't do that with a debit card. Knowing that, the banks are often much more dilegent about contested charges make on a credit versus a debit card.

Wealthy countries always produce things of value. Look at where products are made. The USA, China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, etc. They take raw materials, add value and sell it. Poor countries sell for the most part natural resources and commodities. Rice, rubber, coffee, pineapples, etc. The one exeption is the oil producing countries. The lesson is, if you want to increase the standard of living for your country, the country needs to encourage manufacturing to locate in the country and employ the people. That is a two step process. First, having sufficient workers with the requisite skills to support the manufacturing. No company is going to locate here if it believes the country lacks sufficient workers with the skill to produce its products. Second, you have to "encourage" not discourage manufacturing. That means favorable rules on the construction, operation, and taxation of businesses that locate here. Money flows where it is treated well. Just look at Singapore and Hong Kong. They learned long ago that being business friendly make their countries prosperous. China more recently learned that lesson. Unfortunately the USA has forgotten what made it the leading economic power in the world.

I am a former banker. The debit cards used are either MasterCard or Visa. As such the issuing bank has to adhere to their rules. In theory a debit card offers the same protection as a credit card. In practice you will find the issuing banks less helpful with problem transactions on debit cards versus credit cards. With the former, it is your money, with credit cards it is their money. You should make a formal request to "contest the charge" Typically that has to be in writing. The bank then is required to investigate. If they find it is a duplicate they reverse the debit and you are fine. Expect to make several calls to follow up. The issuing bank has to expend its time and effort and frankly most are not very dilligent.

n 1968, the best-seller “The Population Bomb,” written by Paul and Anne Ehrlich (but credited solely to Paul) warned of the perils of overpopulation: mass starvation, societal upheaval, environmental deterioration. The book was criticized at the time for painting an overly dark picture of the future. But while not all of the Ehrlich’s dire predictions have come to pass, the world’s population has doubled since then, to over seven billion, straining the planet’s resources and heating up our climate. Just one of the "chicken little" prophecies I have witnessed during my 7 decades living. The latest of course was Covid that was going to lay waste to the population of the earth. The earth has warmed and cooled for millions of years Glacial and interglacial periods An ice age is a period of time where global temperatures drop so significantly that glaciers advance and encompass over one third of Earth’s surface both laterally and longitudinally. During an ice age, a glacial is the period of time where glacial advancement occurs.[1] Similarly, an interglacial or interglacial period is the warmer period of time between ice ages where glaciers retreat and sea levels rise.[2] Over the last 450,000 years, glacials have lasted anywhere from 70,000 to 90,000 years whereas interglacials last approximately 10,000 years.[3]

Gee, Now guess which prosecutor was going after Burisma the company that was paying Hunter Biden who new squat about oil and gas and had no expertise in Ukraine tens of thousands of dollars to be on their board. https://www.wsj.com/video/opinion-joe-biden-forced-ukraine-to-fire-prosecutor-for-aid-money/C1C51BB8-3988-4070-869F-CAD3CA0E81D8.html

Now what there a part of what I included in the OP that said No, I don't want to convert them to computer based slides. It is important that I can overlay serveral transparencies at the same time to demonstrate their similarity. That would be lost if they were computer converted. That you found confusing?

Now is there a part of the fact that I deliberately said that No, I don't want to convert them to computer based slides. I am looking to do a presentation that includes some pictures on my computer plus some data. I also have some items that are transparencies that I would like to present. From my old school days we use to project those using an overhead projector which are pretty rare these days. Even if I could find one, I don't want to flip back and forth between the computer projector and overhead. Is there a single piece of equipment that could attach to a computer where you can lay flat transperencies and have the image projected. No, I don't want to convert them to computer based slides. It is important that I can overlay serveral transparencies at the same time to demonstrate their similarity. That would be lost if they were computer converted.

Oh so according to you Joe had "no political influence" once he left office. Which planet do you live on. Also who is to say the transfers were not for favors already performed. Now if you don't find it strange, that members not just Hunter got money from overseas governments despite in some cases doing nothing and in Hunter's case being not qualified, I am sorry but I just don't understand your particular level of insanity but I admire your conviction to stay with it.

I would say the same thing. There should be a policy that prohibits funneling money to family of those who control the government. At least with Jared Kushner you have a person with documented experience in the real estate field. With Hunter you have a person with demonstrated experience with hookers and crack cocaine. If you had $2 billion who would you entrust it to. It smacks of Quid Pro Quo. In the case of Joe Biden however it is the "entire family" that has received renumeration which makes the behavior even more questionable Now tell me just exactly what qualifications Hallie Biden had that warranted a payment Hallie is unmasked as the mystery THIRD Biden family member to receive China cash: Top Republican reveals Beau's widow and Hunter's ex got $35,000 in 2017 from $3M deal made by Hunter's associate https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11868569/Hallie-Biden-new-family-member-shady-business-deals-probe.html

That is true but if his last name was something other than Biden he would not get a plug nickle from any other country. You have a man who by all accounts is a drug addict, no expertise in oil & gas, no discernable expertise in real estate investment. Are you really trying to peddle that the Chinese and Russians did not know exactly the character of the person they were giving millions to and you suggest they did so because "he was qualified" No he is the presidents son and that is the one and only distinquishing feature he has that gives him an edge in getting money versus the Chinese and Russians giving it to people who truly are professionals in their field.

I just returned from overseas and I live with my Thai GF in her home and have for over 4 years. No address change. I was under the impression that anytime you left the residence particularly if you left the country it was required for her to submit a new TM-30. My neighbor who is from Belgium has the exact same situation. He has not had her file a TM-30 in years. He said immigration does not require it for a Non-O retirement but requires it for all other visas including the marriage visa. Now mind you, I always try and verify what this man says because often he "thinks" he knows the answer but does not. What is the correct answer. We filed a new TM-30 and no one at immigration advised us any differently. Additionally, I required a new residence certificate to open a new bank account and the immigration personnel demanded an updated TM-30 as part of the paperwork.

As I said, like every liberal I have ever met, you are like the delivery company who says prove you didn't get the package rather than I will prove you got it. You make claims. Unsubstantiated yet provide zero to back them out. And your retort is they are all out there for you to see, just look them up. Tell a lie, make it a big, lie and keep repeating it and eventually people will come to believe it. That is the liberal mantra.

You hit the key " appear " to exist. Obviously officials not you thousands of miles away saw it differently. As to the racial bias, I say Bull Pucky. This mentality that everything that someone feels is a negative is about the race is nothing more than convenient rationalization and in some cases a pretext for a lawsuit. It is far more mentally comforting to blame ones bad occurences and station in life on their race rather than their personal behavior. I didn't get the job because of my race - instead of no I was not qualified. I got stopped by the police only because of my race - instead of no I was doing 90 in a 60 zone. I was only arrested because of my race - instead of no I was arrested because I was breaking into a store and stealing things. Are there incidence of racial bias, probably. but not every negative thing in life is a result of it. It is far more comforting and easier to blame something you can't control such as your race than our own personal shortcomings. In this instance the only thing that seems to be evident is that these people were far from model people. 1. The driver "chose" to drive the vehicle while under the influence of marijuana endanging everyone in that car and other innocent people also on the road. 2. The driver and passenge "chose" to at some point take meth, ocycodene, and fentanyl still present in their system. To what extent that would impair their driving ability I will leave that to the experts. However it hardly suggests a stable, safe, and responsible enviornment for the children. 3. We have zero idea of any other aspects witnessed by the police or child protective services. Perhaps, the children appeared abused, perhaps malnourished. I have no idea but again, I am in no position to say my assessment from 7,000 miles away is superior to theirs. 4. Very simple answer to not ending up with problems with the law. DONT BREAK THEM. In this instance the driver chose to have darkly tinted windows and chose to drive while under the influence of marijuana. Guess what if he did neither of those, this is not a story at all. In Thailand there are numerous stories of people who encounter less than what they believe is appropriate treatment from the police. Guess what? I avoid at all costs doing anything that would put me in a position to have a situation where it puts me at odds with the police. Pretty Simple.

I have challenged liberals for decades to back up their words. They never can and you never have. They always spout some platitude made up of their preconceived bias. It is like the delivery company who says prove you didn't receive the package rather than I have proof it was delivered. Facts talk and B.S. walks.

Joe Biden says Vladimir Putin has 'clearly committed war crimes
Longwood50 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Well jingthing two things. From a practical standpoint Mexico is annexing the American Southwest. However as said, I am not in favor of Putin but I hardly think the behavior of the USA over the past 70 years puts in on a pedestal to be preaching righteous behavior to any other country. -
Brian which part of thinking troubles you the most. You seem to indicate that it is of some significance that the tests were conducted later. What I said was that I find it amazing that people including you, seem to defend these people when testing shows they were on the road, under the influence of marijuana. A week later, a hair follicle test shows that both the mother and father had Meth, Oxycodene, and Fentanyl in their system. Now the fact the test was done later might have some bearing on its admissability in court. It has no bearing on the fact that obviously these were not model parents and were drug users. It has no bearing on the fact that the father chose to have his five children in the car endangering their lives while driving under the influence. It has no bearing on the fact he was driving impaired on the road endangering the lives of others. As said, normally I would say a person defending such behavior should have a cognitive function test but as previously stated there is no such need in your case.
