  1. so, the highlighted problems are safety concerns and 'inefficiencies' in law enforcement, and the solution is infrastructure development. a certain lack of understanding of the problem perhaps?
  2. recently found out the GF has been offered 13 million baht for some land, add that to all the property and investments she has and i'd guess her assets are currently worth over £1m GBP, and that doesn't take into account the value of her various businesses. so no, she doesn't ask me for money 🤣
  3. fighting in the middle of the day, in this heat, good effort.
  4. always blame the dog when in fact the owner is to blame, as anyone who knows dogs understands. an appropriately trained and cared for dog will not bark unnecessarily or excessively
  5. should have spent money on home improvements rather than firearms
  6. she's a prostitute, you really don't understand the business model?! if you plan on staying in thailand i suggest you educate yourself, and fast.
  7. Six of my very good friends have had enough of Phuket and all six are leaving because of traffic. Another friend and his family of four just bought a house a relocated here from the UK. After just a few months, they are already looking for ways to leave. they obviously have a very narrow minded view of thailand, why on earth would you choose to live in phuket in the first place? they were asking for trouble, and found it. instead of running away they should have taken the time to travel, educate themselves, get to know thailand. tbh, thailand is better off without this people like this.
  8. inflation looming and a leader talking about recession, nice management of stock market expectations... so smart.
  9. while it must be worrying for the parents, at 19 years he is a adult and if he wants to take off then it's his business. there are often two sides to every story, possibly at 19 he has very good reasons for wanting to leave the home and not contact his family.
  10. agree, it's a sensible approach and, as you would back home, keep all tax relevant documentation to hand so when/if they request it you can provide it accurately and promptly.
  11. she's got 4 cars, 7 houses/condos and 8 businesses, so nothing. if you need to pay for your woman here you don't know thailand.
  12. i get that children and teenagers, to an extent, finding throwing water highly amusing, but just look at the adults doing it, invariably they are the lower class, uneducated of the population. non of my thai friends will go anywhere near the water throwing, they, quite sensibly, see it for what it is and would dearly love for the idiocy to stop.
  13. very sad, but a lesson to us all, don;t ride beyond your capabilities, will be interesting to see whether alcohol + speed played a part, or just a lack of ability to ride an ATV, let's assume for now alcohol didn;t. ATV's are notorious for accidents for inexperienced riders.
  14. agree, what's needed is a unilateral, accepted by all modes of transport, travelcard, the same as most major cities around the world take for granted, but for some reason seems unachievable here.
  15. the gf owns a few condos in and around HH so go there reasonably often, can;t say i'd ever want to go there for a holiday, the drive is dull.
  16. skype was great, but possibly old tech now. apparently users are being migrated to Teams, i'm not familiar with Teams, is it possible to call uk landlines using Teams?
  17. ...and so they should, keep sweeping please, get the illegals out
  18. for goodness sake, i've traveled to over 70 counties, worked in half a dozen, there are good people and bad people in every country. but by far the good outnumber the bad.
  19. far from it, my friends are middle class professionals and are pretty happy with the way things are at the moment. where are you getting your info? the internet? bar girls?
  20. not at all uncommon, happens back home, people overestimate their relationships at work, when work is the only thing they have in common. it's pretty sad really.
  21. it's the way ofthe world, not thailand's fault. thailand has been behind the banking security curve and is starting to catch up. if you really desire to live in a country with dodgy banking security go elsewhere...
  22. if you work here and earn within the taxable threshold, of course. if not, no.
  23. a few years ago i was sitting in cool style restaurant and this 17/18 year old NZ girl came and sat with me and started chatting, we had a great chat. eventually, she said her parents were coming and they were heading back to NZ, did i want her unsmoked spliffs? thank you very much i replied. cool kid.
