  1. why not ask your wife?

If you were in your country would she do this for you?

Shheeeshhh.... farangs trying to get invloved where a Thai person can easily make a call.

Let her sort it out, I am sure she is more than capable.

I have of course asked my wife and her friends, but there is conflicting information. There is no time to make the call because she has to apply tomorrow and today is Sunday. I was asking for positive replies which some have given. I don't need a lecture on Farangs sticking their noses in.

  2. Jim,

Agree, but there are also many cultures within one culture in the Middle East. Tribes etc.

    Rick

Sure it is an incredibly complex situation. I just used the term 'cultures' as a broad-brush overarching term describing the differences in people, race, skin, religion, tribes, sub religion, ideology, prejudice etc etc. The truth is the lid on Pandora's box is open, and now for electioneering reasons, everybody who is necessary leaves. The snowball is rolling and I think the months ahead will disclose problems far bigger than ever existed with Hussein. But we got rid of him for WMD's, I think we need step in now for regime change.....doh!

Agree on all points Jim. This will never end.

  3. The War is over, we brought peace and democracy to Iraq, and only 6000 servicemen and women had to die. Iraq is now a better place than it was under Hussein.sick.gif

This was inevitable when the Western forces left. The same is happening in Libya. These countries seem to need a tyrant to keep control!

This was inevitable as the Western forces arrived! I am not sure these countries need a tyrant but what we need to understand is that there are many cultures cannot deal with an imposed form of Western Democracy.

It it not just politics that affect the outcome religion is a major factor in my opinion Jim.

  5. I worm my dogs once a year without any outward signs of infection and see no harm in us humans doing the same. In fact reading this thread has made my bum itchy and reminded me that I haven't had Benda or Fugacar in years.

I am curious as to whether these medicines will kill liver flukes.

I don't have an itchy bum. I don't believe tapeworms cause that. You can't feel the proglottids wriggling out of the anus.

Better you read the drug information on "wormers" first as they don't all treat every type of parasite and require different doses depending on what you've got. You also should be careful to read the contraindications of a drug before you swallow it. For example, Albendazole is hard on the liver and is not recommended for people with liver disease or even elevated liver enzymes.

    Tropo, too much information!

  6. It's a coincidence that this thread came up. I was talking to one of my wife's Thai friends the other day and I was shocked to hear her story. She has always been painfully thin since we have known her and she eats like a horse, but could never increase her weight. A while back her stomach began to bulge to the point where she thought she may be pregnant, so she went to the doctor to get checked out. The tests completed, the doctor gave her 'worming tablets' which she duly took and the following day she dropped a 7.0M tape worm. She said it was gross and I felt sick thinking about what she described. This worm must have been living inside her for a long time to get to that size, so no wonder she could never put on weight.

I go with Libya and after hearing my friends story will take the tablets twice a year.

  7. Do you think the real problem is the potential arrest of the 73 year-old?

What about the statement, 'Provincial officials said the false prediction caused a drop of 90 per cent in tourist arrivals to Tak during the holiday season, and a loss of 400 million baht (13.3 million dollars) in income.'

Do you really believe that dam earns over 444 million Thai baht a month in tourist revenue?

Yep, forget Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya. The dam is where its at.

  8. The utility bills are late this month and not just in Chiang Mai. I am still waiting for my true Internet and True visions bills. The water bill came about a week later than usual this time. My friends are in the same position and we also worry about being cut off. I am in Pattaya by the way.

  9. I can't fault what you say, the rules are not rigorously applied and the ref's walk alone. The bin is a good deterrent and in my opinion should be applied to football.

Friendlies should be just that and I guess the one you saw in Malaysia was. Great atmosphere.

I am really glad the FA have shown their teeth by acting very strongly against racism and long may it continue.

  10. Had the exact same conversation yesterday regarding Rugby vs Football. The abuse that the footballers give the referee's is unbelievable and they get away with it. They could learn a lot by watching these 'huge' ruby players excepting the referees decision with dignity. As usual money is the root of all evil, especially for the 'playboy' footballers that no longer give a shit about anything, including the club and the fans.

I am certainly leaning towards rugby more and more these days.
