  1. The price of IVF just went sky high, if clinics will even continue to offer. Anyone changes their mind, and they're stuck with an embryo ... forever. That ruling really makes you 'pause for thought'. I believe life begins at conception, as if undisturbed/aborted, it will be become wee one. I just glad I'm not a woman. I'm against abortion ... but ... I'm also in the 'my body, my choice' crowd, so have no right to tell a woman what to do. Instead of banning all abortion, w/exceptions, anyone past a certain time period, must watch a vid of an abortion, in the months that they are, if wanting one. At a very early point, it looks like a newborn, just smaller. Most gals don't even realize they're pregnant till into the 2nd month, and looking like a baby already.
  2. Agree with OP, if policy, then probably a money grab. Daughter applied/accepted to a few, and no such requirement. Or was there even enough housing for all. Some of housing was disguising, and she wouldn't even consider staying there. I don't remember her liking any of the dorms that she saw. When at Uni, she visited the housing and as expected, party party, drugs & alcohol, which she was not into at all.
  3. Actually all about savings. To energize, maintain and probably longevity, value for baht. The added performance is just a plus. Not needed, but really nice to have when wanting. I can now pass vehicles in less time, when before, w/ICEV, I wouldn't attempt to. Saves time, and for my driving style, makes passing safer.
  4. Brazil has an excellent trading partnership with RU, with increases yearly of imports & exports. No surprise being part of BRICS. RU in the top 5 of import goods to Brazil. Russians can still travel to 79 countries of the 193 member countries of the UN, without a visa.
  5. Do you respect the USA for direct support of Hitler's military & economy in the early going of WW II ? Your ignorance is shining, as the USA voluntarily supported Germany, where TH didn't have any option with JP. Some folks & their businesses even supported Germany after it was illegal to do so. TH did what they had to do to survive, with JP's occupation. Didn't have much choice. There's a time to fight or go the resistance route, and help the allies, in their fight against JP. Even while they/Allies were bombing Bangkok & TH. And TH was very successful in the resistance movement and assisting the Allied forces against JP. You may want to do some actual research before posting next time. Google is your friend. Start with US senator Prescott Bush, as that should open your eyes a bit: 'His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act' USA auto makers supplied the Nazi war machine also.
  6. Thai for Thai ... why would TH cower to silly sanctions imposed by USA. As those sanction do nothing but benefit the USA. USA for USA, and no different. USA doesn't care about other countries' conflicts and a bit hypocritical considering their past invade & occupy policies in just the 21st Century. Besides, the USA needs TH more than the reverse. TH being one of very few in SEA, that allows USA military to use their land and sea bases. With that in mind, TH can do what ever they want, always have, and always will. One of the things I respect about TH

    Rats in Silom

Any metro the size of Krung Thep with 10M population and especially an open sewer system is going to have a few more rats than some would like. Add the Buddhism thinking of live and let live, and you'll definitely see them around town.
  8. I didn't even bother test driving the EV, since owning the newest ICE version of the MG ZS. Reading the specs was enough, 0-100 kph in 8+ seconds vs 12+ seconds. I thought the ICE was peppy enough as it was, so getting 50% more, at 75% less cost, if using PEA ... no brainer for me. Having solar, just icing on the cake Only drive in 'eco' as more than enough power and out paces any ICE at that price point. Don't even bother with 'normal' or 'sport', and only tested them. Sport is pretty freakin' awesome. Can't even image the other performance EVs doing <4 second to 100 kph. That' insane
  9. I thought you were in Bangkok as your Feb 14th post (10 days ago) talked about gridlock around Silom & Riverside area. Along with being in Patts in January So back in USA ? ... hmm Not sure what I believe about the Russians, as did chit chat with any, but I'm not putting much stock in your complaining posts.
  10. When was the last time you were on Phuket ? Or are you just going by the opinions of AN members, who most don't live there either. I was there in April last year, and I didn't notice, although, unless talking to the tourist (no thanks) I couldn't tell you if they were from RU, UA (same same, not really different), UK, GR, FR, SP, IT or any EU or eastern European country. All seemed to be behaved and enjoying themselves.
  11. This today, as we approach RTAF Wing 5, and you'll notice scooter at gate with tourist in front of us. Directed to sign in. As always, I just get waved through. So I'd make sure I have my Passport with me, if planning on visiting. Not sure if they accept Pink ID or DL.
  12. You can definitely trust the WLTP range estimate, at least on our MG ZS, as stated at 320 kms, and mixed driving, (30-60-90kph) we average 350 easily. At highway speeds, 90 kph +/- then we get at least 300 kms, and at the end of 3+ hr driving, average 80+ kph. So around the 230-250 kms mark, about 3hrs, we're peeking for the next CS. And a welcome break it is. That's in 'eco' mode, which is more than powerful enough, with KERS (regen) set at max '3', for all driving. WLTP range rating of 320 kms for the ZS, that testing is done with an average 47 kph.
  13. With all the failures, by all countries, that we read about, and I even remember reading that US missile silos were still running Win X, not sure if BS or not. Would hope so, but don't care, actually a good thing, up from floppy discs But just think is someone did actually 'push that button' and managed to launch one ... 1 ... nuke, and then everyone joined in to retaliate, but nothing actually worked. Would kind of make you wonder where all that money went. I mean if the US Pentagon can misplace billions & trillions of $$$, over a short period, and they've been in the killing business for how long ... hmm, no wonder RU wasn't allowed to join NATO ... then who would be the boogie man ?
  14. Guess it would be possible, and if we had the proper cable and bypassed our inverter/breaker box, then our panels put out 9.7kWh (barring any loss), although that's 18 pv X 540w. So a bit faster than the wall charger, and much faster than granny charger. Although not exactly an inexpensive option, (~฿100k +/-) but faster. Although without the inverter, would limit it's use.
  15. Not sure I understand the question. If meaning directly off the solar panels, I haven't a clue or techie enough. Maybe if having proper cables and such, but wouldn't recommend it. This is what our MG ZS will accept 1 phase & DC @ CS. Most fast CS supply at least 50kWh, up to 125 or even 175kWh, I think. Although the ZS will only accept up to 76kWh. Assume the Neta V is in the same range, with their granny/emergency cable, wall cable, and acceptance from DC CSs.
  16. This thread should be enlightening ... link
  17. But are they on retirement & marriage visas ? Or studying Thai or Muay Thai
  18. I would guess less than the numbers that left, considering covid did a number on people's finances / retirement plan. Tourist came back with a vengeance, good thing for the locals. Well, those vested anyway, though not so much for me
  19. THANKS So 150k ... all of about 0.2027% Somebody want to tell us again how important we are With covid, world economy, and tax law enforcement, that number may be lower now or in immediate future.
  20. I'm past my expiration date, so all that extra protein, fat & sugar I loved, didn't kill me yet. There's always another study in the future, that will debunk the previous study. Article seems all for not "Clearly, long-term human studies are needed to impact dietary guidelines but the take-home message is that blindly eating more protein in your diet for overall metabolic health is not a cure-all," Razani said. "As a cardiologist, I still recommend people to abide by USDA nutrition recommendations which closely follow the Mediterranean diet, with roughly 15 percent kilocalories of daily dietary protein coupled with healthier fats and complex carbohydrates, and constitutes one of the most balanced diets for the vast majority. "In addition, do not take the results of our study to drastically change your diet without consulting with a physician, especially if you already suffer from cardiovascular disease. Our study should increase conversation on this topic and stimulate the nutrition, metabolism, and medical community to conduct mechanistic studies such as this to arrive at a more comprehensive understanding of our diet's role in heart health." The purpose of the article ... to SELL SUPPEMENTS ... after your understanding of diet in heart health. I await all the new ads for supplements now that I clicked on the article
  21. Now it's too much protein I thought it was too much fat or too much sugar. I'll wait till the next study comes out, that matches my dietary intake, so I can feel good about myself
  22. I don't go to the popular, overpriced, over crowded tourist ghettos. Rare to find a hotel full, unless you only use booking sites, and they only show rooms 'they' have available. Hotel site or simply phoning hotel and we find there's availability. If a couple hotels are full up, that's enough to tell me, I don't want to be in that area.
  23. Considering a new car this year ... then you die hard ICEV owners really need to peak at the EV offerings, as the 'Price War' is on ... big time. Matching, even less expensive than many entry level ICEVs 'made in TH', especially if not settling for the base model of the ICEV. Many less expensive than imports from JP. NETA V starting @ 499k BYD discounted across the board, I think MGs discounted every other month it seems new entries in the market
  24. Reading reviews shouldn't be a challenge, as more than enough across different platforms. Many reviewer provide photos to back their review, especially if negative. Only take minimal time to sort through them. Due diligence saves a lot of headache. If a vendor has limited or no reviews simply avoid, unless someone you personally know & trust recommended. I've rarely been disappointed, and usually impressed, as I tend to read the latest mid to low level reviews. Don't need to read the "OMG'" reviews. Bookng.com is good, as have to be a verified customer. Gmap (my 'go to') is good, as plenty of photos from visitors, along w/streetview, and you can judge the reviewers, by how many reviews they've done. Even cross reference, to see if you and reviewer have the same mindset, if been to same places you've visited. Takes a little time, but you won't be disappointed with your choice. Hotels, never book more than one night, if you book ahead at all. We rarely do, but self drive, so options abound, if we didn't like the room when peeking, "before paying". It really isn't rocket science. Don't forget to make your own review, w/photos if needed, and real info. ex: don't just state pet friendly, let people know how much the pet charge is, if there is one.
