  1. And miss all this ... shame on you ... https://bk.asia-city.com/things-to-do-bangkok/news/best-events-to-celebrate-pride-month-2023-bangkok Already dyed my short & curlies ... el Rainbow
  2. Wasn't talking culture, though that's subjective. More just cost of living. Been to both, CM & UT, and same same, not much different, culture wise... ...IMHO As is the whole country actually. Very minor differences, unless deep south, and that's simply on a religious level.
  3. EVs and ICEs are very different. I could easier chop shop the parts of the ICE, sell whatever, and crush the rest. Not sure I would know where to start with the EV, Take a wee bit more knowledge, probably some regulation to meet, before even touching the battery pack.
  4. Really depends on the actual comparisons. Numbeo puts MC just a tad more expensive than BKK. Never perfect comparison, but possible ball park enough: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Thailand&city1=Bangkok&country2=Mexico&city2=Mexico+City County living may be completely different. Same as metro areas here vs downtown, vs BKK, CM, Patts, Phuket, PKK, Nan Udon Thani and 15 kms out of downtown was drastically different. As is PKK municipality, and 5 kms away, where we live, and more different than Hua Hin.
  5. That depends where you actually live, and would apply worldwide. TH is far from crime free, and your examples would get you into trouble here, just as easy as anywhere in the world,
  6. So not just a scrap dealer, as implied, but wears 2 hats: ... scrap dealer ... used car dealer ????
  7. Way too much clicking for me, to read these headliners. Just google some version of the title, and usual brings up the source of news-blip, if interested.
  8. Wind generator / windmill permit makes sense, since in the tornado belt. And 10+megs is enough to kill anyone, and then some, if an oops, So not recommended for the DIY crowd. Not that our simple home solar system wouldn't kill if touching the wrong thing at the wrong time. Our if the grid wires. Hopefully the regs make sense, and not more Nanny state, pushing the in state oil sales.
  9. Nothing put together now in the UK for MG. Keep the HQ there, supposedly for 'designing' ???? Justifies the 'Brit Dynamics' thingy plate on the vehicles ???? If not for CH/SAIC, MG would be just another on the long list of failed automakers in the UK. Really turned the company around, and can't seem to make some models fast enough to keep up with demand ????
  10. @sanook 1 On track record, the Extender is a rebadge Maxus 60/70, and been around for about 7 years, so plenty of time to work the kinks out. And the engine, drivetrain, if same as Maxus, has been around for about 20 years.
  11. Spanish would be easy to pick up. I was even fluent reading/writing. But an actually conversation ... my brain has a hard time processing when coming at me that fast ???? When in Mexico, most went over my head, but got a rough idea what was being said or asked. So much easier than the tonal Thai.
  12. I was going to go a bit further, and state he 'sucks' as a business person, and apparently a lot of missed income opportunities. But not actually knowing the regs, or personally knowing him or poster, that might come off as offensive ... oops again.
  13. Can't even marry your 1st cousin in almost half the states. Shame, my 'kissing cousin' was smoking hot for a preteen. Loved when she visited ???? and instant mutual attraction. Such a couple horn toads at such a young age. Memories, like it was yesterday ???? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cousin_marriage_law_in_the_United_States
  14. Finally, a nice downpour, short, so far, but substantial. Everything watered, and solar panels washed off ???? Previously, not enough rain to connect the dots of the droplets, before they evaporated ...???? Expect a news-blip tomorrow, of Bang Saphan being flooded, as always seems to follow the first day or 2 of rain, until the ground softens up.
  15. Reading comprehension goes a long way I stated nothing about safety around then. But hey, make sh!t up if it fits your spin.
  16. That would be a top choice for me now, with hindsight. Especially for anyone with any health issues, anything elective, and you can just hop right back over and use your Medicare, if having. I would say the cost of living is very comparative, depending where living. Thumbs up for the food. Thai can be a bit boring after a while. Much larger country to explore, as TH is so small. Advantage with all the islands in the Caribbean. Settled, too old & lazy to move, but as stated, would be my top choice. Added plus of visiting the USA, to see all the things I didn't while living there. Mostly National Parks, and with the ol' folks discount/FREE, what's not to love.
  17. Not a very EV friendly country. Though I do still find it hard to believe, there is not an after market for motors, battery packs, and the rest of the car's parts. Is there one for ICEs, if so, how can EVs be any different. No wonder the UK is in deep sh!t, and if true, seems to be a bit over regulated. Another reason why I left my original nanny state / USA.
  18. I use those batteries exclusively, and already posted the LAZ link I get them from. They are excellent. Today's price on all 4 'buy at' links on your link, ฿740, (shipping or drive to cost ???), for item: BK-4MCCE/4NT My LAZ link for same item ฿754 delivered. Buy more than 1 pack, and delivery cost less per item ordered.
  19. Sodium is a much needed, and wanted flavor enhancer. Simply read the labels, as most do list sodium content. Use G-lens if not in a language you understand. If it's processed, it's probably got sodium, whether for flavor or preservative. Sodium/salt gets an undeserved rep .. IMHO As always ... moderation.
  20. His opinion obviously, as the motors & battery packs can and are being used again. You can always find a use for an electric motor, and the battery banks are being used at charging station, and added to solar systems. Anywhere addition storage is wanted/needed. The rest of the car, same as ICE, in demand by someone for lower cost repairs to other 'running' vehicles. Junk yard was always my first for parts, to keep my POSs running, as long as possible, on the cheap.
  21. Give a test drive, as suggested, see how it compares yourself. Do a bit of research, FB/MG groups for the Extender, see what the complaints are. Manufacturers seem to have the drivetrains down to a science, and option/accessories seem to get the complaints in most vehicles. See if they are important enough for you. Spec comparison, make sure it's what you want, need out of a truck; load wt/volume capacity. Towing allowance/restriction, if thinking about a trailer/towing of anything. MG fan myself, and peeked at them, Extender in the showroom, looking & priced competitively. but we really have no use for a truck.
  22. Somehow, this pride parade is getting some attention, brought on by themselves of course. Aside from that, I guess many people have never been to Key West. Great place, especially if you're gay or other version of alternative lifestyle ????
  23. That would be fine, if events & parades were not held on public streets. Hence the problem.
  24. "Volvo released figures claiming that greenhouse gas emissions during production of an electric car are 70% higher than when manufacturing a petrol one. 25. Apparently one needs to choose living in certain provinces for ease of visa approval ... oh well. Guess I've been lucky, as no silliness asked of me. You type faster than me ????
