  1. Democracy doesn't exist in the USA, by design. Per the Constitution, it is a 'Constitutional Republic'. Learn the difference and you will stop expecting to be a democracy.
  2. Yea, you don't see them too much, and strangely saw them a week before. down at Ban Krut, as we popped down there for massaman & roti. A couple pink ones not in use
  3. I never needed the Glock either, or any of my toys, so not a necessity, and all is lovely in that society ... when I lived there.
  4. Probably, hopefully just a one off, as can't imaging Domino's putting out something that bad. Though I did notice it didn't last long. One of the first to open in TH.
  5. No plans to, but not many in the family make it pass 75, only 2 so far. Do find myself making more of an effort to stay mobile, instead of my usual LPOS self. Everyday to the park with Sniffy the WonderDog. Even though I could just stroll down the soi with her, as I do for her evening walk. Get out to enjoy the lovely area we live in a few times a week. Not just sit on the veranda, as nice as it is. Yesterday popped down to surfside coffee shop on the scooter w/Mrs. Cut through RTAF Wing 5 on the way back, make sure it's still there. Already had my sugar fix, so didn't stop for one there. Next week Then cruised by Ao Prachuap, that fronts town, and yep, both still there Haven't hung out surfside in the evening in a while. Starting to get a bit rough. That's about a 10 km stretch of of surf, half being viewable and can sit next to if wanting. N side of Ao Prachuap is a few more kms of surfside restaurants & sitting areas.
  6. Do they ? ... or more of your hypothetical situations. Many variables, due to different cars, different tires and driver's habits. Would think any heavier vehicle would wear out faster, if all things being equal. Plenty of ICEVs the same or heavier than some EVs. Already posted somewhere on AN. Maybe purchase better tires, as you would with any vehicle. Just a thought. You didn't mention how brakes might last longer, due to regen system. Or no cost of oil changes, tune ups, transmission servicing, or exhaust system issues/replacements with EVs. Have a nice day.
  7. Not getting the 'at the airport' thingy. When I was a wee one, I used to ride my bike to the airport and watch the planes coming in & out. Run amuck in the terminal, slide down the escalators, get chased by the guards. No desire to hang out at airports any more, especially since they put them damn raised round disc in between the escalators. Taking all the joy out of a good slide down. If I could, would I do it again at 70 yrs old .... HELL YEA
  8. Worked at airports for about 16 years. So last thing I'd want to do is live at one. Besides, having a full kitchen is mandatory. I'd rather live out of a RV, even if just a converted van.
  9. If a business, yea, a true pizza oven is required. But for the home cook, you can improvise. I don't do enough pizzas in house to buy a silly priced baking/pizza 'steel' here.
  10. Apparently they couldn't. SOP to subcontract out work you can't or don't want to do yourself. You think all shipping agents/companies have a fleet of planes and or vehicles to serve every soi on the planet. I use to subcontract myself out, to a company that CF Air Freight use to subcontract to. The truck had CF Air Freight on the side of it, yet neither truck nor driver belonged to CF Air Freight. You'd be surprise that a lot of air freight, never sees the inside of planes. I've driven 'air' freight from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware to Florida. Using my personal pick up, or CF Air Freight's subcontracted trucks.
  11. Don't have to, as I know exactly how he would react. Not in a positive way. Adult entertainment areas would be one of the last places, he would go, and certainly not with his wife. I'll just leave it at that, as surely to offend most of the members with any other opinions.
  12. I believe the rules state, altering, misquoting post of others is not allowed. Nice try though ... Is not being charged the same as being "fully investigated and subsequently exonerated". If he even was, as you did state 'If' If so and not charged ... nuff said. Although, not being charged and not being guilty of something isn't always the same. OJ was acquitted of murder ... does anyone think he was innocent.
  13. Was happy when Domino's announced they were coming to TH, as one I frequented near Memphis airport on way to/from work was decent. Sadly the one I tested out here/Khlong San, was terrible, and never sampled another.
  14. considering the question, assumed a typo ... ... yep, missed that one
  15. 10s of 1000s killed by auto ... ??? It's a machine, people are the problem. Agree with others, one of best, safest sidearms out there. My 'go to' when out of the house at USA.
  16. ??? "as CM after BKK is on his itinerary. Then Phuket, and we'll hang out for 24 ish hours at BKK before he flies out."
  17. For info & booking ease, booking.com is great, especially if you don't have a Thai wife/GF. A few times I've 'walked in' quoted the lower booking.com price, and they wouldn't give it to us, actually sat in lobby & booked online for the better rate. Strange, but true. Most times the wife gets a better or same rate. Since we travel unplanned, it works for us. No prepaying or lack of ability to cancel, as usually booked day off or night before. Not until we know we'll be there, usually just "do you have room, cya soon" Since having a dog, it is/was more to verify the dog policy, and while doing so, started getting prices lower or matching booking sites. Hmm ... no need to use them any more. Pretty sure if I did the calling, probably different price, or referred to booking site. Wife does a lot of prep, for our O&As, and time consuming, along with saving a few baht, but most important, no surprises when we show up. ... sorry, we don't take dogs, no refund ... sorry, only 5 kg limit, no refund ... I'm sorry, only the expensive rooms ... I'm sorry, dog has to be in cage ... I'm sorry, dog charge is XXX, (almost the price of the room) All true answers to queries.
  18. Not sure about that, almost half my adult life here, since only 69 yrs old. The last place I holidayed at, as pretty much traveled out, and ready to retire. No real desire to play international tourist any more. Nothing worth the plane ride or expense, that important for to bother.
  19. The ease of 'documenting' their daily routine, everyday, weekend, or on holiday is bit OTT. Days past it was, grab a few post cards while topping up the car, 'having fun, bore you with family photos when we return'. Now it's 'I had gra pao for breakfast' ... 'I'm at the mall with pretty lights'. While on my daily surfside cruise, I see folks pull up surfside, hop out of car, take a few snaps in front of the PKK sign, and then they seem to disappear. "I was here" Hope they did some exploring, besides just a good munch.
  20. Cutting down trees will never be eco friendly, as they simply can not grow back at the rate they are cut down. Un-recyclable plastic can be burned for energy.
  21. ... as a holiday destination No ... ,,, retiring, then yes, having many pluses, posted above. I personally couldn't, wouldn't live in Hua Hin, Patts, CM, Phuket, Ao Nang, or any tourist destination, or where most expats live now. Or even BKK, due to air pollution, almost half the year. Other places too many tourist, to congested. Enjoy rural living.
  22. Live .. debatable, but ... ... do love where we live ... love our house, and great value for baht ... love cost of living, cost of O&A ... cost of healthcare (out of pocket) ... non Nanny State ... ease of long term visa ... price of solar system & EVs ... cost of Uni for daughter Only real negative, and tolerable, as only a month or 2, and that's air pollution. Holiday ... NO ... if I didn't work for an airlines, and have weeks of timeshare to burn, at the time, I would have never came to TH, way back when - 1999.
