  1. Popped up to Krung Thep the other day, and yep ... way too tourist ???? Silom area & lower Suk & Nana soi 4 was packed, as was the the BTS, non-ish rush hour as were the walkways, T21. You probably wouldn't make the 1st or 2nd BTS train @ Asok. Actually better than pre-covid, when you couldn't even get pass the turnstiles at rush hour. Faster to actually walk if going only 1 or 2 stations, along with no need to climb up the steps. No way could I live anywhere close to 'downtown'. We were only there for convenience, as usually stay on W side of river. TBH ... couldn't wait to leave.
  2. ~฿8 per kWh Glad you liked Garage Café, as it just happen to be at the right distance and near the U-turn on the return leg. Pleasantly surprised as we didn't expect much. More simply convenient w/decent reviews, thankfully accurate good reviews. Would definitely pop in again.
  3. Try not spending what you don't have. Rule # 1 People that rely on others or govt policies for their survival, apparently failed Economics 101
  4. Day #3 of charging the ZS via Solar ???? Day #1 / 2 / 3 ... 22 / 52 / 77 % start, and should top up today before 1600 hrs. At least 6 hrs per day. Of course I could have simply used the grid overnight @ 7.4kWh vs 2.3kWh via granny cord. Having the E-MB for simple chores, morning dog run, and actually went shopping at Makro w/wife. Think a first using the scooter, and works if not stocking up. 8kWh solar enough to power house, 2ACs (13 & 24BTUs) & the ZS EV. Goes something like this, in stages, car, bdrm AC, main AC:

  6. Didn't delve into it that much, as totally irrelevant to my life in TH, but also not seeing anywhere stating he expected or planned on dealing with the issue. Maybe you could provide a link to that tidbit. Stating that he found it 'impossible' to get rid of his shares, doesn't change the fact, he holds them. Clue me in on what I'm missing, please. From VOA: It may come down to he said / he said, 'did' / 'did not' inform of holding shares. Both irrelevant, if letter of law followed, holding shares disqualifies him from holding office. Public pressure to enforce the rule ... .... or not. Personally I'm not optimistic on his chances of winning, when they vote to ban or not.
  7. Yes, there is crime everywhere, and common sense helps minimize being a victim of. For the scooter bag snatcher, simply hanging your bag on the shoulder not facing traffic can be all the deterrent needed. Tracking device and return of her belongings is a nice end to the story. Bummer about taking a nasty fall during the experience.
  8. Agree, and if anything, is showed the younger generation, they now have choices. Hopefully, if Pita gets banned, it will be just him, and not the whole party. That would be a bit of a setback, and once again, a wait to next election cycle.
  9. I will NOT purchase another Mazuma product also, as warranty & return issues , mirror yours, and useless IMHO. One was hot water heater, krapped out, and the other was a countertop water purifier, and hassle along with high restock charge to return. Recommend avoiding Mazuma products at all cost. Along with so many other brands. Big ElectroLux fan now, and yes, tad more expensive, but worth every baht.
  10. 'Probable' .. not so sure. Doubtful he'll make it pass the EC decision, and not only not be PM, but probably banned completely from office. For being the quite intelligent person that he is, how he didn't see that coming is a surprise, especially considering the same fate was bestowed on the party leader.
  11. Yep ... if our ZS has motor oops after warranty, and silly priced to replace, I know where the battery pack is going. Right to our solar system. Even at 50% capacity, it's would be more ESS juice than we have now.
  12. Yes, hot water, green pipe. The exact why, I don't know, though maybe blue PVC chemicals absorbed by water if hot, so not good. You definitely want to control water temp at faucet with mixing, as stated, it can be scolding. We haven't needed to turn on our hot water heaters for some time now, as lukewarm, to very warm, and that's city piped water. Not many houses on the line, so it sits in city pipes for some time on our soi. I could easily bake bread if using city water now, as 105F to 115F. Actually perfect time for bread ???? If using water heater (3500 watts) I could brew a cup of tea. Had external roof mounted SS water tank at one house, and varied from freezing to scolding, depending what time of year.
  13. Exposed.... ...if exposed, your immune system stopped the infection, not the mask. Why mostly old and unhealthy people died from covid.
  14. I used to wear a vapor mask when cleaning chimneys and when I was done, I'd blow my nose and it will come out anywhere from Gray to Black ... masks don't work.
  15. That depends on the helmet. I know more than a few people who had their helmets taken. I only locked mine because I'm a hard fit and it cost more than 200 baht. This country is so safe, most have walls around their houses and bars on the windows and doors ... Open your eyes. Where I live I don't even lock the doors. If the wall and the fake security cameras don't deter them, they're coming in anyway at least this way, they won't break a window or door.
  16. Correct, as jagg88 stated, they don't work, prevent infection. 10% infected, is like 10% pregnant...IMHO Why more than 4.7 million people in Thailand had confirmed cases of covid and so many more millions probably simply didn't even know they had it, couldn't be bothered testing for, or didn't report it.
  17. Depends on your accommodations. Don't think I'd stay at a place I can't leave my laptop.
  18. That's a sad list. Not much of a motivation to go with that list.
  19. PhiMai is a nice little town, and the Khmer ruins there are quite nice, though dwarfed by Phanom Rung. The museum part, if still there, was along the road into town off hwy#2, and should stop there first. PhiMai actually quite close hwy#2. If you go to a lot of the Khmer ruins / museums dotted around the country, you'll notice (the fine print) many, most of the artifacts are from PhiMai area & Phanom Rung area sites. Prasat Muang Singh Khmer temple in Kanchanaburi, was rather nice also. Three of the better (only) ones I've visited. Ban Chiang, Udon Thani is also nice, and try to go there during the yearly festival. Quite the archeological find, and had to rewrite the history books with that find. Pre-dates other finds, concerning manufacture and use of metals

  21. Khao Yai Art Museum, Pak Chong area, was interestingly different, if in the area. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Khao+Yai+Art+Museum/@14.5961804,101.3283344,20677m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x311c321d533d6e5b:0xffa4217c0d50d043!8m2!3d14.5531545!4d101.433381!16s%2Fg%2F12q4v3875 And a winery may interest, though harvest season is Feb. so don't expect much in the vineyard. Again, only if near by: Alcidini Winery https://www.google.com/maps/place/Alcidini+Winery/@14.5434865,101.5999862,666m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x311c3b4561e8e2d5:0xa974f1f8820d8ef!8m2!3d14.5434813!4d101.6025665!16s%2Fg%2F1hc76gfj4
  22. Headed somewhere soon ourselves, undecided though. Nong Bua LamPhu come July, but want to go somewhere S before that. Waiting for some rain actually, so a bit greener, and clearer skies, though skies (blue & cloudy) quite nice now locally. Love rainy season, in between the rains.

  24. Been there a few times, but apparently before 2012, as no G location mark, at least on that phone/ID/account, as had more than a few. I've done most of Isan and east coast, beyond Rayong to Cambo border. Use to have the wife ferry over to Laos, from Nakhon Phanom for a Bailey's restock when there. Visited the original Uncle Ho house, with original coconut tree that he planted still there ???? vs that fake replica of Uncle Ho's house at Udon Thani ... blasphemy I tell you. Ubon never did nothing for me, Nakhon Phanom & That Phanom were good for a visit, and chill riverside.
