IMHO ... gun violence is simply a symptom, the result of deeper causes. Treating the symptoms isn't working. Poor parenting the #1 cause ... IMHO Rampant drug use, sales turf war, pissing people off is #2 cause, and account for most of the shootings ... IMHO Nutters, you'll never stop them. Thankfully there are few, though they dominate the news. FBI stats, and most murders are committed by know assailants: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-4 Most murders (firearms) committed with handguns: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8 Yet, with that info, nutters & rifles dominate the news. News is obviously pushing an agenda, instead of addressing the true issues ... ... IMHO

Age is personal decision, for whatever motivation, that's between them. But having kids, when it's unlikely you'll be around till they reach adulthood, is just wrong. A mental trauma they shouldn't need to deal with, especially if it means a financial hardship added to it. How many kids ... UP2U, as long as you can provide for them. 1 per female, would make sense, world population wise. And for me, 1 was enough to raise, though many want 2, for that sibling thingy. More than 2, then I think it's getting a bit silly, especially if wide age gap. Be a bit more responsible, as most after 2, seem to be surprises, if going by friends' and family's surprise arrivals. Today's world, that's a huge financial strain on many families. Subjecting a kid, to grow up poor, is equal to mental abuse, and that's from experience. It's not fun at all.

School defends haircuts policy after social media uproar in Thailand
KhunLA replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
I'm a 'MY body ... My choice' person, even minors. Apparently many, in control, don't agree in the 21st Century. Especially 3rd world countries, and why they'll always be. To topic, if private school, you chose it, so follow their rules, if having. -
Since behind a paywall/register/no adblocker, I also find such sites useless. For other non Thaiger members: Weather Forecast Warning From: Chanthaburi Branch1 Jun. 2023, 12:16:09 To: Marine Department to the ship line:All ships (All) According to the announcement of the Meteorological Department about strong winds and heavy to very heavy rain, No. 3 (163/2566) dated June 1, 2023, affecting until June 6, 2023 for the eastern and southern regions, the west coast still has thunderstorms. continuously And there are some heavy to very heavy rains in the provinces of Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Trang and Satun, asking people in the area to be careful of the effects of heavy rain and accumulated rain that can cause flash floods. Car Reviews (personal 'Thai' experience)
KhunLA replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Bump up, and honorable mention to our previously owned 2012 Mazda 2 sedan, which the daughter got, when we picked up the MG ZS ICE in 2020. Now have the EV 2022 version, and loving it. Anyway, she's decided to keep, as going strong, and hoping to squeeze 10 more years out of it. Limited driving since living at Krung Thep, with a weekly run up to Rangsit, her main driving. Aside from picking up materials locally for her business, but well < 10k a year. Knocking on 200kms now I think. So 300kms shouldn't be a problem, with minimal upkeep. Kudos to the M2 as already got our moneys worth out of it, since depreciated down to ฿100k+ range. Not really worth selling or upgrading, for new 'payments', instead putting those toward a mortgage. ???? M2, great knock around town car, so so for highway driving, comfort & road noise level, our only issue, and tolerable, especially if not out & about much. Same with most Japanese branded entry level 'made in TH' cars. Our experience with Toyota (Vios (2)) & Mazda 2. HAPPY MOTORING -
9 yrs ago, after dumped at the wat across the street & shunned by resident dogs, followed me down the drive one day, while I was operating drones. Went from self appointed outdoor guard dog, to sleeping in our bed now.

1 hr S of HH, and still waiting also. The few, very few sporadic drops that have fallen are worth mentioning.

Yea, got the sarcasm part .. loved the stumbling into 7-11 for another beer. Surprisingly, never even been growled at .. by dogs anyway at 7-11. Love how some lay directly in front of the door, for the AC.

Dengue fever cases could reach 3-year peak: Health Ministry
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
All these 3 yr peaks ... I guess nothing existed before covid &2020. Don't know what wouldn't be a new peak, except maybe 'suspected' deaths due to vaccine ???? IMHO Dengue .. of course more, due to people out and about now. -
Living here 23 yrs on and not one of those things have happened to me in TH, while visiting Patts, Bangkok, most large metros or enjoying the countryside. YMMV

Beauty Queen's Life Shattered by Autoimmune Disease: A Cautionary Tale
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Many did not have a choice, if wanting to continue their present financial livelihood. Daughter didn't have a choice at her job either, and I advised her not to take the mRNAs, which she already knew about. Many countries & companies mandating vaccines to remain at job or school. My Body My Choice ... hmm -
Beauty Queen's Life Shattered by Autoimmune Disease: A Cautionary Tale
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Very surprised, how'd that get pass the media censors ???? Sadly, hers does seem to be the most common 'autoimmune' issue, reported to VAERS site, 1 or 36 I found listed. Condensed list by me from site: https://wonder.cdc.gov/controller/datarequest/D8;jsessionid=A05D598C4150AB43B84862AC4653 From link above, though you may have to initiate a search to get same page. -
Not a fan of Tom Tom, as having MG also. Same as Tiger & Dog thoughts, find their maps not updated, missing quite a bit. Like TT graphic and speed camera warning, but that's about it. Drive the speed limit, so no need for tha info. Use Gmaps exclusively, if needing, when driving.

Many times, I think not, and I can count on my hands how many times I was in there. Certainly wouldn't take my daughter in there. Use to hit Irish Clock when Steve & Mali managed it, and Nobi's, but they were afternoon munches, not night time, as I avoided the soi at night. You'd find me over at Preecha Market if there at night or if at real restaurant, at the BookHouse, over by Nong Sim Lake, another no longer there. I avoided UT at weekends & night time and always tried to be gone before 1530 hrs / rush hour. And never bothered with the hookers, as not a P4P kind of guy. Only twice on Phuket, first 2 visits to TH, and only hooker experiences, ever. Never in USA ... never needed there, and simply tested at Phuket, and never needed or wanted afterward. Not seeing the attraction to P4P. No challenge or real sexual excitement paying for it. That's about some boring A$$ sex. YMMV

How about a solar car port on a budget?
KhunLA replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Solar or PEA 360 kms per full charge = ฿0.00, as long as not more than 3 full charges a month, as < 150 PEA units ???? Locally, we rarely drive 1000 kms a month. If having to pay PEA @ home, 360 kms, 46.3 kWh @ ฿5 kWh = ฿232 Same 360 kms using petrol (91) 360 / 14kpL = 25.71 X ฿35 = ฿900 Actual #s, as I owned the ICE version of the MG ZS EV -
I personally wouldn't chance it, not for a short 5 day visit in TH. If I was the IO, I'd deny or send to quarantine. Along with being quite miffed that I handled your PP before finding out you didn't have the vaccine already. Since arriving only a week after possible exposure. I'll take exposure to covid any day over yellow fever. "People who do get sick will start having symptoms (e.g., fever, chills, headache, backache, and muscle aches) 3–6 days after they are infected. About 12% of people who have symptoms go on to develop serious illness: jaundice, bleeding, shock, organ failure, and sometimes death." https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/diseases/yellow-fever#:~:text=People who do get sick, organ failure%2C and sometimes death.

How about a solar car port on a budget?
KhunLA replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Thanks, that's good to know, as during rainy season, if a few krap days in a row, may need to charge the car on the grid. Not that 1 or 200 baht a month is going to break the bank ???? -
How about a solar car port on a budget?
KhunLA replied to Crossy's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
They simply asked us, when installing the new meter (new house build), and may be a 'standard' question. Irrelevant, as we were getting a digital meter no matter, as all new meters in our area are. 8 new houses on the grid across the main village road, all digital meters. You can't see our panels at all, from any ground angle. -
I think the owner of the 'Sports Bar' is named Steve also. What is that, most popular name of the '50s' ????

Residential market slows, new stimulus packages awaited
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
She always consults with me before investing any money. Wants me to teach her the markets; stocks, options, commodities, currency trading. She could use my USA brokerage accounts, but doesn't have the liquidity yet.
