  1. Severance pay package seems to be quite nice ... ???? Note to self: set calendar for the 5th of next month ????
  2. OP should open his/her/it's eyes instead of the imaginary closed windows & doors. Almost On Topic ... AC not in the gov't education budget, maybe 3023, not a typo.
  3. Good, higher taxes on sugary drinks & cigs, as I don't use. ME ME ME ... lower the tax on alcohol, or at least freeze it ????
  4. If not wanting to pay for the service, have the 'inspection' done at approved shop prior to, and park close to and or take taxi do DLV office. If that much hassle, and non Thai speaker ... use service suggested, stress free.
  5. Yes, no mention of rented vs owning said paraglider. I suspect he owned, or was experienced enough, since a solo operator of. A rental company would not let you take one of their units up unaccompanied if not experienced.
  6. Our system (8kW Hibrid Deye inverter) is not a PEA 'approved' inverter: Deye 5kW for 1 phase Deye 10kW for 3 phase PEA does know we have solar, but apparently don't care, since no inspection or comments from them. Our installer said our local PEA office is quite friendly vs the Hua Hin office. He's registered many 5kW systems with both. Didn't ask about feed back or payment for, as I really don't want anything to do with PEA, except to use as a back up, JIC our solar has an oops. We're completely self energized, and rarely draw from the grid, and don't need it. If they ever start paying for feed in to the grid, and worth converting to two 5kW inverters, we may consider it, as would be a very easy conversion, since having two strings of 9 panels, and soon, this or next week, a 2nd ESS. Hindsight, should of went that route at the get go, but apparently not that forward thinking that day. It did cross my mind before installed ... oops. If we did get paid for feed in to the grid, it would be about ฿1 to 3+k a month, as we generate 2-3 to sometimes 5X as much as we use, depending on overcast vs sunny (few lately) days. So wouldn't mind an extra ฿2k+ ish a month, making ROI time a bit shorter, along with a few beers on PEA's tab ????
  7. Relishing life as we all should do. Godspeed for full recovery.
  8. relative to ... ... 32 yrs worth of minimum wage income here. $100k is a large sum, even to most Americans apparently. Sad but true ... https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/19/56percent-of-americans-cant-cover-a-1000-emergency-expense-with-savings.html#:~:text=Most Americans are still struggling,in early January by Bankrate.
  9. Actually makes sense to me. 105 year old beat it recently. Kind of shows how little of a danger it is to healthy people. I won't be replying to anticipated attacks, so don't bother.
  10. Offered on AN, 3 ish years ago: https://aseannow.com/topic/1132985-purchase-an-affordable-last-will-and-testament/ Offered here for 740 ish baht: https://www.thailandlawonline.com/last-will-and-testament/last-will-and-testament We did not use or have knowledge of either. Gal at Amphur office did it for us, during her lunch break, I think we gave her 200 or 500 baht. Long time ago.
  11. Popped into the MG dealer today, to ask about financing. Told can not on our order, as already registered to pay cash. While there, she checked the Q, and we are #33 out of 271 vehicles awaiting to arrive in TH. Assume they are all versions of EVs, as others are produced here. #33, but no date, still tentatively Nov 19th, I think, (order date + 6 months) or there abouts, barring any delay. They actually had one, exact same as we ordered that arrived the other day, as none on hand when we did order. Nice to actually get hands on, and any differences, are upgrades, so happy about that. Told if wanting red one, top end model, as she knows we like that color more, but not offered in entry version, they would be available earlier. Guess they overestimated demand. For about 70k more, you get 2 more choices of color (blue/red), more electronics (stuff to krap out we don't use) AND, a sunroof for sunny TH. NO THANKS, although for all the extras, 70k is more than reasonable. Noticed they had a promo for ICE buyers, buy a vehicle, get an EM E-scooter (12k value) free. Actually a nice scooter, and 4k cheaper than HomePro's marked up price, I think. The "arrived lot" was full up, about 6 vehicles. 1 PHEV, 1 HEV, 4 ICEs, besides the ZS EV in the prep bay we looked at. Tic Toc ... hurry up already ... ????
  12. That's when sales of EVs would take off here, if Ford Ranger, Mazda, Toyota or Isuzu came out with an E-truck, near an ICE price point. Thais love their trucks, and quite practical, as actually use them as.
  13. Reading comprehension goes a long way ... "Both seem to have failed on that account."
  14. And there's the rub ... registered ... witnessed correctly. Not registered ... well ... judge's discretion ... good luck. Yes, my wills, 2nd one, had a clause, 'supersedes' any previous wills, dated & registered.
  15. I would think registering it would be self explanatory. Do or don't, but if 2 people are presenting wills for the same person, and 1 was registered, who do you think the judge would rule in favor of ?
  16. Just think if the Swede wasn't J-walking .... then the driver wouldn't had to worry about anything. Maybe the driver was expecting people to observe the law. Both seem to have failed on that account. I know we're not supposed to victim blame, but when I cross the street, I look both ways, 2 or 3 times, then don't take my eyes off of the oncoming traffic lanes until on safe ground.
  17. Reading the news-blip, so no official (2.5 hr) stated. Just this silly statement: "Once opened, the train line will drastically cut journey times between Hua Hin and Bangkok from five hours to around two and a half hours," When was the last time he took a train to HH, 5 hours ... really. Last non-express train I took was about 4 hrs +/-. Depending where you live in Krung Thep, to/from station, so not seeing much of a time advantage. Though if nice carriages, or simply don't have a car or desire to drive, then excellent of course. If I was on international holiday, arriving at BKK, taking direct bus or limo/taxi would be much more convenient, than possibly overnighting or rushing to get to the train station, if schedule permitted. Especially if not traveling alone. But hey, looks good in the headline.
  18. Doubt if the royals would waste their time, even if they were. I don't attend funerals of people I knew, let along people I didn't know. Thai Ambassador showed up somewhere during the 'event'. You may need better news sources. But don't let that stop you.
  19. Used to do the same when staying longer than an overnight pitstop visit. Parking for a car, just doesn't exist there. Taxis & unofficial tour guides took what ever parking was available in the main areas. Scooter much less stressful ???? If not for the dog, I could easily see us using to go to Krung Thep more than a few times a year.
  20. Not exactly breaking any speed records. Then for those of us/you, that enjoy having transport to explore, now have to rent or depend on taxis. NO THANKS. Definitely good if in HH and want to visit the Big Mango. Now open it up down to me, next station south, as would be great to pop up to see the daughter, as really don't need the car when there. Oh krap ... just remembered ... the dog ????
  21. Here's one of the reviews (google translated on FB) I saw: "Today, I sent the documents signed with Arun Plus. The test car that parked for the customer was still available. So the salesman made it to drive for a short distance. I could only feel the filling of the suspension and the acceleration a little bit. As far as I can touch 1. My lower back feels a little wobbly for a sedan like this. But I normally drive a high SUV and I get used to this. But the seller said that the car that will be delivered to the customer has modified the suspension to suit Thailand. The one that we are testing now is the one that is used in China. I would like to repeat that the seller told me. 2. Acceleration my own feeling. Like a petrol car I think. Pedal is based on our kickdown force. Because as I said in #1 I'm using a big car and accelerator is definitely better than my regular car. A brief summary. 1. The suspension should actually be a little better for this type of car, but have to wait to see if the vehicle to be delivered to the customer actually has the suspension repaired like my salesman told me. 2. The acceleration rate is normal for a small car like this. I can press it immediately. It's satisfactory for me. This information is a feeling that I have experienced with myself. It may not be the same as others, because everyone's feelings are different. So I want to bring the feeling that I have tested driving a little bit. It may be useful for those who haven't had a chance to test drive. It's fine to move."
  22. In my world, that's not normal. I don't expect anyone to see me when crossing the street, especially a 6 lane divided highway. He wasn't even crossing at an corner/intersection or crosswalk, and not in the most attentive state. Taking nothing away from driver's error in judgement, too fast and not paying attention to the road.
  23. Tesla are still in silly price land here, though not sure what price if directly ordered from China. Neta group of FB has some reviews of the 'V', though more 'test drive' reviews. One I read wasn't exactly negative, just pointed out, you get what you pay for. The suspension & ride didn't exactly get any rave review, and compared to an inexpensive entry level Toyota/Suzuki, Varis & Swift. So pretty krap, and why I upgraded from the Vios & Mazda2. Fine vehicles for around town, but krap if wanting a quiet ride while on the highway at speed, which we are quite a bit. We're going to stick with what we know, MG ZS, unless something, a better value, comes out before the end of the year, that can be delivered Q1 of 2023, as we're tired of waiting already.
