  1. Have you naysayers actually tried to socialize with the local gals outside of the P4P venues/sois/adult entertainment areas. You may be surprised, or not.
  2. For me, birthday was Dec 23, DL expired Dec 31, renewed Jan 4th. No issues renewing, even though DL expired. I believe the DL is good till end of your birthday month. Expiration date is on DL. Always best to call or pop into you local DLT and simply ask.
  3. A bit more than 30 kms from downtown (Central Plaza), but agree, some nice hills & roads in NW part of province. Na Yung area, south of Nam Son, is quite nice also.
  4. Agree, and why I stopped visiting, as it declined so fast when I lived there. Bangla rd ... ask the locals, and they'd be very happy to see it shut down, as a stain (new favorite expression) on the family beach resort town. Have a nice day
  5. Guidelines are kind of irrelevant, as rarely do the best movies & actors win the awards anyway. Quite the PC mess, and always has been. Simply now, it's an official PC mess.
  6. Did they close down the cow shed / Day & Night, along with the massage places ? Gmap still shows it as open. I do see the new hotels, and a step in the right direction. That soi is a stain on the city, and should be moved elsewhere. Take a clue from the locals, and put the adult entertainment out of main downtown. It's embarrassing ...
  7. Then the sun shows up, house cooled off, and ZS EV being topped up????:
  8. Used to be plenty of places to munch & sip a few w/live music. As stated elsewhere, I quite enjoyed my single life there between marriages.
  9. At the night markets (3 that run together) near the RR station, it's quite good to excellent. On soi samphan/slum, the expat/sexpat/sextourist ghetto, it used to range from quite good to krap to overpriced. My 2 favorite restaurants there/soi slum, when we lived there, are either no longer there, or management has changed. If that's where you hung out while there, then yes, you wasted you time dining there. Thai's preparation of Thai & Western food, is excellent around town, and outer areas, when we lived there. Food was UT's only saving grace. along with a few quite pleasant expat to sip a few with.
  10. I quite enjoyed Rabbit Hole. Interesting twists & turns along the way, keeping it unpredictable ????
  11. Our daughter, who was quite social in HS, also has no desire to even visit. Even cut all times with her birth family (GrandMa/Pa). Adopted wife and myself this year, taking our last name. Quite enjoys the Big Mango lifestyle.
  12. Wow, what a difference, since heavily overcast now. ESSs @ 80%, which on sunny day, are topped up by now, if not charging the EV, and that's with ACs on. Production barely keeping up with consumption, if we turn an (1) AC on. Produced 7.7kWh, consumed 6kWh since midnight. Now: Production @ 2kWh +/- Consumption @ 0.5kWh ESSs getting 1.5kWh Guess we're back in conservative use mode. Outside temp @ 33C , inside 29C, though humid. Maybe time for that morning shower, and hopefully the water coming out a lot cooler than past week. I could bake bread without heating the tap water the past week, month. (edit) ... that feels better, and now it's actually raining, sporadic & light ????️
  13. As stated, difference office, different requirements. Also, this year, did the online vid, and 2 different Amphur DLTs in same province, 1 want 'resident letter', even though I have yellow book ????, the other not requiring, so used that office.
  14. We left as soon as daughter was done High School, as no need to be there, and couldn't leave before that, or we surely would have. Aside from the air pollution, almost half the year, simply one boring A$$ place after a year or 2 of exploring locally, within 200-300 kms. Only interesting landscape, within that radius, is on the edge of the plateau or riverside. Really too far from any place else, and non stop flights to Phuket were only during high season ... no thanks, besides the kid in school. O&A during the school breaks, as much as possible, so a good 3 months away yearly, when wanting. Only been back, 3X, to liquidate assets. During covid, so actually not bad at all.
  15. Agree, one of, if not best night market areas in TH. Left UT 2016 ish, after living there for 16 yrss, and was a decent food town then. 5th or 6th largest metro in TH, and way too congested at night & weekends, and to be expected.
  16. Overnight use of ESSs has been at it's most this past week. May 1-8, production/consumption just shy of 35kWh a day, with 8-10kWh of that overnight, 14ish hrs of no production, 1800-0800hrs. About 5-6kWh till midnight, then 3ish kWh midnight till 0800 when system starts producing more than consumption. Only thing extra on till midnight is TV (65"). One 13k BTU AC, 2 frigs running the whole time. AC set @ 27C +/-. Waking up with 50-60% of ESSs remaining of 20kWh ESSs (2/10kWh) February, March, April and first half of May, 1 ESS @ 10kWh simply isn't enough for us. Really wouldn't want to run the ESS down to <20% every day, and never went below 35% when only have 1 ESS during Aug/Sept 2022. 2nd ESS was added after we got our digital meter, as wanting to be 'off grid' as much as possible. Next 10 day temp forecast is low 30s instead of high 30s, along with overcast and light afternoon spritz of rain ... finally. Production has been excellent with sunny skies, actually broke 50kWh one day, a new high for us. EV accounting for a bit of that. Average daily kWh production / use for this year: May 35 +/- so far, should drop down Apr 32.96 Mar 24.63 Feb 23.17 Jan 19.48 2023
  17. NO ... definitely not talking about bar girls. As you say, sure they're tired of hearing the same BS every night 10 times. No wonder they call sexpats & sex tourists dak-ling ???? "hey Bob, she just called me darling" ... in your dreams bud ????
  18. Most gals speak & understand English, they just prefer not, if you know a bit of Thai, or if they simple don't want to talk to you. Mai khao jai kha, mai phut phasa angrit kha ... nice way of saying FO ????

  20. Note to self: stop driving under the expressway for the shade ???? If not caught on video and uploaded somewhere, I wonder how often these incidents happen ????
  21. "Chinese cars are among the safest of 2022 in the EuroNCAP tests" Tesla Model Y, that was tested, was 'made in CH' https://time.news/chinese-cars-are-among-the-safest-of-2022-in-the-euroncap-tests/ "MG Mulan and 2 Other Chinese Cars Earn 5-Stars In Latest Euro-NCAP Ratings https://carnewschina.com/2022/12/07/mg-mulan-and-2-other-chinese-cars-earn-5-stars-in-latest-euro-ncap-ratings/
  22. FL is ahead of more than half the states, maybe, as only 24 states, even allow referendums. Don't know what the complaining is about. https://ballotpedia.org/States_with_initiative_or_referendum Seems most states and citizens of, aren't big fans of them. Does seem to be a bit redundant, as that is what you elect their legislators to do. Maybe they, citizens, voters, should actually pay attention and show up to vote once in a while. If they want abortions available, after 6 or even 15 weeks Pretty obvious, the citizens, not just the Republicans, don't want abortions after 6 weeks. Or they aren't letting their legislators know....oops Republican voters out numbered by 9 million, non Republicans. Apparently, democracy is working just fine. Do check back in after 2024, stay tuned... https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/data-statistics/voter-registration-statistics/voter-registration-reports/voter-registration-by-party-affiliation/
  23. Probably because you didn't read the instructions and are applying it wrong. Most advise to use overnight. So it's absorbed into the skin before sweating or getting rubbed off ... on 'your shirt'.
