  1. 6 weeks is a little thin on time to decide & organize. Especially for low income, and paying for it, unless free on Medicaid coverage, which it should be, if it isn't all ready. One less kid has got to be cheaper for the healthcare system's bottom line. Guess people will finally start to be responsible with the sex life ... ???? ... or not. Homosexual #s may rise ... ????
  2. Reads like he simply wants to avoid the high numbers of tourist. One of the main reasons we rarely traveled during high season (except during covid), Along with higher cost and more pollution. 20 people on the beach is too much for me, let alone a few 100. Qs at better restaurants, some with high season prices. Hotels not an issue for him since living in Patts, but usually 2X as much vs low season, at better place. Making their jacked up weekend rate during low season, a bargain in comparison. Using Phuket, Hua Hin & Bangkok for my reference. Some silly pricing during high season.
  3. Same with the overprice 'made in TH' cars. With lower labor & electric cost, in TH, how does the same car cost less to import or be made in the USA. TH excise tax makes up 20+% of car price alone. At the time we bought 2nd Vios, cost almost $20k USD, but only 14k in USA, sold as Varis. Mazda 2 excise tax rebate was 100k baht. Same with some of my Sony camera gear, 'made in TH', but lucky if we get the USA price.
  4. 'Painless360' ... wow, flashback, as he walked me through my 1st build with his vids ... 12 yrs ago ???? I never even soldered anything before, and it still flies today.
  5. Wouldn't this be part of his research. Already has 800k for visa. Obviously been here before, maybe just not in a while, or lived an expat existence, instead of holidaying, as different mode & expenses. I've been here 20+yrs, and I picked a pointer or 2, insurance wise, and reconfirms to me, glad I never I bothered with. Got a good consensus, living, feeding one self for 10k is easy enough, and beer & insurance would be his other expenses, and 25k left for that. Health ins. or not would be the big ?????? Beer, depends on intake, where purchased, assuming he knows that. Doesn't come off as ill prepared at to me. When others, definitely didn't have a clue or never been here.
  6. Something like Alaska to Florida/Keys or Hawaii, or NYC to Yellowstone Nat Park. Want mountain, deserts, anything in between. That's not diverse enough. Music, Art, Plays, too many theme parks. Not diverse enough, plenty of munchies: Russian neighborhood for some borsch Cubans for some Salsa and Cuban sandwich & coffee Mexican ... plenty of Real cowboys on horse vs Silicon yuppies in porches, to the Amish in horse buggies. Only 500+ yrs old, but plenty of history.
  7. I think you & another gave the burger ???????? I'm thinkin' 'what, no way' ... oh yea 'way' ... damn tasty, and yea, a bargain. The CheeseCake, dark blue sealing adhesive, label 'Baked CheeseCake', partial to the 'Black Forest' cakes also.
  8. 51 & 29 ... we were so young And 17 yrs later and all is good, still not thinking too much about getting older, since we're already there. Reading AN, with folks knocking on, or in their 80s ... I'm feeling younger every day. Till the day I don't wake up, which I won't even notice ... hopefully.
  9. We don't even consider dining out, of late, unless AC is provided. Unfortunately, few restaurants locally are AC'd. Not a fan of the ones that are AC'd. Rather get a Double Pork Cheeseburger, Cheesecake & beverage from 7-11 and sit in the car, while looking at the surf ... ????
  10. I'm behind the times. Although, if they see you using repetitive re-entry tourist visas, they'll deny you sooner or later. Realizing you're just skirting a marriage/retirement visa requirements.
  11. Not a rice fan myself, rarely eat, but the Hom Mali/Jasmine rice is much better, than the rest of the (unseasoned) rice offered here. Smells and tastes much better, if you eat rice. Take a plain potato over plain rice any day. Along with a bit of 'fusion', pasta over rice, in most other dishes where rice is served.
  12. A new high for us yesterday; produced / consumed ... 48 / 46.9kWh 13.5kWh going to the EV I took note of our non producing use, overnight; 1630-2400 ... 5.8kWh 0000-0700 ... 3.2kWh Total of 9kWh, w/bdrm AC running all night Minus the EV, and ~25% of our use is overnight, 14.5 hours of no production. All things being equal, people considering Solar, need to balance that use, with their daytime use. And if not home during the day (work/school), solar may take some time to get that ROI. IF home during the day, then 75% of you monthly PEA bill, during solar production. Then can decide if investing in ESS, for overnight, for the other 25% would be worth the extra expenditure. As mentioned, more than a few times, do expect a digital meter coming your way in the future. Don't expect PEA/MEA, buying back excess any time soon. Definitely consider a hybrid inverter, at small added cost, so if & when you need to add an ESS, you're already set for that. Make use of the spin back meter, if using PEA/MEA for overnight use, as long as you can. DISCLAIMER: NOT an endorsement to steal from PEA/MEA, just an option you may or may not want to consider.
  13. OK, so you overstayed your welcome. Imm simply enforcing their rules, of so many days per year, for those not holding a long term visa; marriage, retirement, work (legally) visa. Since you have the means, simply get the Elite Visa. Simple solutions for simple problems. Having the proper visa works wonders.
  14. How was your appearance, your dress ? Did they suggest you not try land border again without a visa, and were you being argumentative ? ... if so ... oops Tell us what really happen ????
  15. Take the hint, they don't want you here. 12 (2) is insufficient funds ... maybe they were just being kind. Since you state they didn't ask you about.
  16. You think ... ZS says 'completed' ... I'm happy
  17. I think I'd file a lawsuit to recover my tax dollars, if this is what they are wasting their time on in chambers.
  18. OK, that even better, more precise explanation ????
  19. Topping up from 45% to 76% took 7+ hrs, and car saying another 24% / 6 hrs to go, tomorrow. Last 20% tops up slower, due to balancing the cells. Or put on grid (25.5kWh) @ 7.4kWh for ~4 hrs +/-
  20. That should be more than enough. Insurance & beer, I don't have or partake in, well, worth mentioning (two 490ml a month). No car/rent, and all you have to do is feed yourself, and easily done with ฿10k a month w/home cooking. Or ฿10k a month, eating out @ ฿300 a day.
  21. That's a long or short piece of string. What I could live, if having to, vs someone else would be completely different. What I need to live on comfy, also would be completely different. But I personally wouldn't try to live on less than ฿20k a month, per person with your question's parameters. Depending, beer & health insurance might be one's largest monthly expense ... ???? Married, you need 40k a month anyway or lump 400k for visa. Retirement, well, you wouldn't qualify with less than 65k month, or 800k lump, depending which version of retirement visa and which office used. Or use agent, and bypass all the rules ????
  22. It is a free choice decision. You always have the choice to work 'unskilled/low pay' or get skilled/better pay. You always have choices ... failure to exercise them is completely different, but still a choice.
  23. That's about it, and no different than a manual transmission, as can only go so fast in any one gear. Guess it something to do with amount of volts/amps needed to go at higher speed. Just like a ICE manual transmission, the torque/take off speed, is less, if in a higher gear/mode, when starting from a stop. Top speed limited, if not in 'top mode' Unlike our EV car, no progressive modes 'while' driving, just mode to 'drive in' (eco, normal, sport).
  24. Our usual EV use, daily & weekly. Daily, non mandatory use, and it's a 12.5 kms cruise to the park (yellow) with the dog, and along the surf. Today, and usually on scooter, as car is charging. Yesterday in the car, but cut short, no surf cruise-by, as knowing going O&A later. Try to do a 'local' O&A, weekly. Local means, not overnight, or need to stop at CS (charging station), so less than 250 kms. Yesterday was short morning park run, then up to Pak Nam Pran Beach area for a munch, late afternoon, early evening. Total for day 180kms / 5 ish hrs (per Gmaps): AM ... Driving - 4.9 km / 16 min PM ... Driving - 78.5 km / 1 hr, 1 min Wake Up Coffee & Bistro 4:18 PM - 5:28 PM (dog in car, running full on electric w/AC on) Driving - 96.4 km / 5 hr, 13 min total Mixed driving @ 90/95 cruise control on hwy#4 30-60 kms off hwy#4 Car estimate in 'Eco mode' 360kms, so 1/2 that for the day, with dog in car for 1+ hr w/AC on. We usually meet or exceed that 360 kms per charge estimate by the car in 'Eco mode' (MG ZS) Use 55% of 46.3 kWh of battery. which will take 2 days (6+ hrs each) to top back up using solar, or could put on grid for a few hours, if wanting/needing.
