  1. Better hurry up and get that foreign income tax in place. Money for the digital wallet scheme has to come from somewhere.
  2. LOL. I saw a similar ad for a job in Phuket the other day. Wanted a degree qualified mechanical engineer with at least 10 years experience, had to be either a Thai or Chinese national, and had to be fluent in both written and spoken English. 6 day work week for 20KTHB. I remember years ago when I first signed up for my brokerage account. My broker, stunningly beautiful girl with near perfect English, with MBA, told me her salary was 12KTHB. However some do hit the jackpot if they can secure employment with a farang company. A guy from my village (he works on off roster) has a job in Pattani with Haliburton (spelling?). He is a mechanical engineer and is on 110K per month. He had just spent 2 months working in the States as well which was an amazing experience for him. He has been with the company for nearly three decades however.
  3. Yes. Absolutely true. Driving or riding on any road in Thailand is perhaps the most dangerous activity you will do in your entire life. Per capita, Threpkrasstri road that runs down the centre of Phuket is the most deadly place on planet earth to ride a motorbike. And that is just using the reported statistics, which we all know are pure fiction. A lot of Thais ride, but they do not do it for the exercise, or to be outdoors, they do it to show off the expensive bike that they purchased. Cycling here is not for fitness...it is for face. I often wonder if you replaced all Thai drivers with monkeys if the road death toll in this country would go up or down.
  4. I wonder what the nut was on his elephant ticket?
  5. What is wrong with working until you die? The dying bit...
  6. When my little dog hears roosters crowing in the distancing he starts baying like a wolf howling at the moon.
  7. Whatever, Mr Latest Fake Account. Welcome to my ignore list.
  8. @SiSePuede419 My very first trip to indonesia a million years ago I traveled from Timor (Christian) to Nusa Tenggara (Muslim) by ferry and bus. Horror journey back then and I arrived exhausted late at night. Found the nearest homestay and checked in. Room was way less than a dollar (in IDR). Passed out on the bed bug ridden mattress. A few hours later I was introduced to my very first morning call to prayer by a massive tin speaker located directly accross the narrow street from my lodgings.
  9. Digitalization, green transition......LOL...... They can't even stop the farmers burning off their land every bl**dy year. If you see a sign out in front of a shop here that reads "Motorbike Mechanic" that does not mean that the guy inside has any idea whatsoever how to fix or work on a motor bike. All that it means is that sometime, in the past, someone had enough money to buy a sign. The axiom I have adumbrated above applies to the government here also. Just because they are a politician does not mean that they have any capacity whatsoever to govern.
  10. I fear no man... and just a couple of women.
  11. Anyone that has the mindset to avoid all confrontational communications with a Thai person is already a victim.
  12. I do not make friends with people I do not like or respect. I have many good Thai friends and many in my village. Several of them help me get one of my speedboats back in the water yesterday in preparation for the coming diving and fishing season. For the record I have personally seen three people shot here...and two that were stabbed. Live in fear if you want. Entirely up to you. But tell me. Do you also refrain from never ever driving or riding on a Thai road. That is highest risk activity you will ever engage in while in this country.
  13. More piffle. I have sued police here sucessfully.
  14. More piffle. You don't need to be violent or aggresive to assert your rights. Perhaps if you learnt some Thai you would be able to communicate properly.
  15. Nonsense. When are you planning your first trip to Thailand?
  16. Truth be known I did not mean to kill it. It was a big defiant bugger (fighting cock bloodlines) and stood its ground. It was in my herb garden and had already destroyed a number of my GF's plants. I just intended to rap it with the pipe and did so with just a modicum of force. Thing dropped dead. So I just weighed it, got GF to check price of Ghai Ban in our village, taped a plastic bag with the per kg payment to the bird and threw it in the neighbors yard. Other neighbors were thankful to be rid of the bird as well.
  17. All of this nonense about fear of Thais with guns. Just a pathetic barstool reason to be a coward and not stand up for yourself (and your family). You have a far far greater chance of being killed by a Thai on the roads here. I will take my chances protecting my life and lifestyle and keep standing up for myself.
  18. Grab is available in Buriram. Perhaps a better option then rental or rip off airport taxis: https://www.grab.com/th/en/locations/
  19. 20. 21. I had a similar problem because a sh*t eating neighbor decided to start breeding chickens next door. I warned him several times his chooks were coming in and destroying my herb garden. After three warnings I killed the rooster with a length of pvc pipe, weighed it, then paid him per kg compensation. Why are expats so scared to stand up for themselves here?
  22. My dogs eat exactly the same as me. I cook their meals with mine. Prime cuts of organic chicken and pork, salmon, and lots of seafood. The seafood would be very expensive but I mostly catch it myself. My little bloke loves pan sauteed squid and also albacore steaks (with the bones removed). I was not spruiking how much I spend on my pets, but rather trying to highlight how little 400 baht buys nowadays and how tough it must be to live on that amount.
  23. I thought your only criteria was that she must be able to fog a mirror with her breath.
