  1. We all wish you a full speedy recovery.
  2. June 27th Bangkok Post reported 1,000 factories closed due to flood of cheap imports. Depending on the business the Tax on Foreign Sourced income is definitely having companies analyze the potential impact and make changes. The weaker baht to USD may also be a factor.
  3. I haven't seen the photo in question but have seen the YouTuber Edwin Sarkissian shot a vest and they may be confusing the weave of the fabric thinking it looks like plywood. Again have not seen the photo.
  4. Regulated in a shop with it not visible from outside okay. I can see this spreading like Marijuana shops all over the place for everyone to see. I love Thailand and do Not want all the families, friends and children to have the se x toys in view from the sidewalk.
  5. I've seen locals use a slingshot in the dogs direction and a stick. As a foreigner the stick is your best option and facing the dog. When you turn around is when they come up behind you to bite.
  6. I think they have to work out the logistics, who pays for shipping back to UK and what paperwork is needed to clear exports and imports customs in both countries. Hopefully they can now get this solved.
  7. These guys bored up in Bangkok? Work on student Foreign Language skills development, work on Math skills so when I give a high school graduate 548 on a 348 bill they do Not need the calculator. Work on access to advanced course for students showing higher aptitude Maybe even just online access. Keep your stupid tax the crap out of everyone and business will leave for other tax friendly countries.
  8. Is this still possible unless your biometric data is not in the system already? Anyways another entertaining story with the morning coffee.
  9. No Thai knows how to operate a Submarine. No idea but guessing quality of underwater mapping for structures and objects is pretty dated. Then you are at the mercy of company that foreign government can restrict from exporting parts. This is right up there with the buying new VIP aircraft story.
  10. One story mentioned them knowing each other for 4 years. All of us would start dropping our guard by then. Temptation of expensive items finally got the best of her again. You display expensive items and you are inviting attention from others, some may think the gold looks better on them.
  11. Guy hired to replace electric Hob looked at my voltmeter, ignored it and touched the wires to check the electric. On nightly walk the voltage detector was out on the table so decided to test some of the electric poles and wires that are directly on sidewalk. Probably 10% showed high detection level. Thai Massage shop ladies asked and girlfriend told them what I was doing. One moved her motorbike away from the pole.
  12. SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World And they happily give you the Thai price when you show them your retirement visa or long stay visa. Chinatown is a good place to experience jammed stalls and people.
  13. I am no expert so fact check what I write is currently accurate. My understanding is you can gift up to 10,000,000 baht to certain people without them paying taxes. You can Not benefit or receive any of this money in return or it may cause many difficulties you may not want solve.
  14. Just read Por 162 published on 20 November 2023 in Thai Language on the Revenue Departments website. Additionally Foreigners Pay Tax2024.pdf has some pictures indicating what will and will not be taxed. You will need to track and possibly prove it was assessable earned income from prior to Jan 1 2024 so it is Not Taxed when remitted to Thailand
  15. Thanks for all the tips. Girlfriends mother's house has this problem. Clogs up all the spray nozzles. Probably going to look into some type of water system that best reduces the scaling.
  16. Thinking same thing. Old guy probably rolling the dice saying he will do it a couple of times and quit. Obviously no Clint Eastwood like in the movie "The Mule"
  17. Surprised not more of these stories in Pattaya with all the oblivious Indians walking in the street. RIP friend. Hope the driver has nice long miserable visit to the local jail.
  18. Can afford a truck but not the 500 baht plastic piece from the scooter. Not sure the quality but I would assume any plastic part can easily be replaced for next to nothing if the prices on Lazada are a close representation.
  19. Coconuts used to be about 16 or 18 baht, now same size is 45 to 50 baht. Both vendors I use to buy from Closed. No one buying at close to 3x price from a few years ago. What will happen is same thing in US when they raised the wages for everyone. Prices will get to the point people living in Thailand will start cutting back and say "Nope" Tourist, Rich people will still buy. Restaurants will close, people will be unemployed/underemployed and struggle. Tax revenue from now closed Restaurants will disappear and Money will have to come from somewhere.
  20. I seen a couple of videos, the one guy in I believe Prague compared prices between the grocery store and Duty Free and Duty Free was always More expensive. Might be isolated comparison but the thought of lugging a glass bottle around while traveling hoping not to break it is Not high on my list for adventure.
  21. Unless you put all your expenses in a spreadsheet and total it over many months it is hard to understand how much you need. Rent, Electric, Water, Cable, Internet, Food, Mobile, Shopping (Phone, Clothes, TV, shoes) Insurance, Dental, Travel, Entertainment, transportation, Sporting Membership, Gym Membership, dining out, bar tabs, etc, etc It starts to add up when you are Honest and add up all your expenses. Hopefully everyone can live a nice comfortable, reasonable lifestyle and enjoy their time over here.
  22. Sure it's just a misunderstanding. Brit man "borrowed" The money and came back to Thailand to pay back the loan. Unfortunately these people who you entrust with dispursing payments see the amount in A business account and the temptation becomes to much. I know a lot of small business owners who handle all their own banking, payroll, and bill payment Because of the fear someone may "embezzle" money.
  23. Meanwhile over here in Pratamnak our Motorbike Taxi man has had so few customers he couldn't afford a 2000 baht a month room and is sleeping on the streets. Tough life for some of these guys who do Not have a partner contributing to the household income.
  24. I guess Police were putting to much heat on some of the operations down there and they needed to send a message.
  25. Just my opinion but seems like some leadership who is pretty wealthy is attempting to turn Thailand into Singapore. To fund these projects they will Tax anyone, anywhere that they can. Money would be better spent on Improving the education system so graduates do Not need a calculator to subtract Foreign Elementary School amounts 302 - 272 = ???. Access to resources and support for students who have potential and who are bright to take advanced learning courses for Free or with discount to make affordable. How about requiring Food labels to clearly show how much fat, salt, sugar, cholesterol is in food. Most labels I've looked at the Macro option on the Mobile phone is required to read the label. Unfortunately the writing is on the wall. Enough reckless spending on investments with High Risk of failure and Low Potential of Profits and Thailand will start defaulting on loans and the credit rating will drop, money to dig the country out will start drying up and have high interest rates. To gain access to the Elite F1 teams and drivers and be able to party with people of same caliber it appears an invitation has been sent. Party in Thailand 202? only people with helicopters, jets, massive yachts and high end exotic cars invited.
