Report Phuket Transport Chaos: Calls to Tackle Illegal Taxi Surge
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
How about this. A reward for reporting Taxi meters that don't work. Driver gets caught so many times in year he is restricted from driving for X amount of time. People choosing not to get robbed by high fare, avoiding confrontation and wanting a cleaner, friendlier ride. I can see why Taxi's are angry. -
Report Thai Woman's Bold Demand for 1 Million Baht Sparks Online Debate
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
She will order Grab Food, walk around being one of those full of themselves, irritating people, and think everyone is beneath her. Like the Thai Soap Operas talking about all the extravagant things, trips they been on and petty things someone said about them. Delusional after watching foreign videos of the luxurious lifestyle of others thinking they deserve this for _______ insert idiotic belief. I think people would pay Not to be around someone like this. -
Your going to get a little of this with the bars and girls. Unfortunately they aren't educated on the Do's and Don'ts to avoid most trouble. About prices, I've talked about foreigners ruining it with Real Estate, and other purchases. Once one pays word spreads and they think Market Value has now risen. Always another plane load of people arriving who will eat the price because that is what they came to Thailand for and are now committed.

Be thankful for the friendship, good times, adventures and memories you had with your friend. It is never easy and an unfortunate part of our lives. One accident in 20 years than your doing great. You'll be healed up and back in action in no time. I agree please don't spiral into depression. Play your favorite music, go do some activities you enjoy, maybe go down to the beach and enjoy a sunset beverage and the view.

Report Thailand Tightens Alcohol Sales: New Rules Take Effect
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The Tourists arrive from all over the world at many different hours. I've seen many in Lotus with their weeks worth of groceries and some beer (alcoholic beverage of choice) only to be denied if it's before 11 am, after 2 pm or before 5 pm. They may also be purchasing something not available at 7-11 or other convenience store. I see both sides as you don't want intoxicated people on the road especially around schools and before people commute home from work. Just wish on the flight in they could play a little overview of key topics to inform visitors. -
I would push back and say that even though there is a crack in your pipe it was not caused by your negligence. The negligence of the building to maintain the vertical pipe to reasonable standards caused the water to ingress to another water pipe and therefore any compensation or repairs should be from the Associations account. If they push back offer to pay 2000 and settle in middle if necessary. I have Condo Insurance for 2637 a year. Think that is cheap for the coverage amounts.

Slow Wise transfers
J Branche replied to ikke1959's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Transfer from US Brokerage Bank Account and Yes now it will always takes at least a day or more. Rather small amounts $1000. Think mine is caused by it being a Brokerage Bank Account vs. one of Big US Banks -
"The findings are from a retrospective study of over 4.6 million people published in JACC Advances and a meta-analysis of 12 previously published studies being presented at the American College of Cardiology's Annual Scientific Session" Up to you what you want to believe I tend to believe professionals educated in the field when the use large pools of data. I don't smoke so I will choose to increase my risk with burgers, ribs, and deserts.

With the recent medical publications showing the more frequently you use marijuana the higher chances of heart attack or stroke I would think seriously. I'm no expert but it seemed to effect daily users with up to 25% increased risk of heart attack and up to 42% risk of stroke. Weekly use seemed to have minimum increase 3% for heart attack and 5% for stroke.

Thailand’s Losing Its Edge — Is Vietnam the Next Real Deal?
J Branche replied to Scouse123's topic in General Topics
Maybe funny how tourism was pretty good when the foreign currencies were stronger. 1 person no big deal. Family of 3 or 4 you may say let's wait to visit Thailand when costs are more favorable. Also Funny how people are flooding to Japan where the USD and Euro are up over 15%. Believe what you want but Tourist know Thailand is not going anywhere it will be there 10 years from now so unless its bucket list why rush just wait. -

J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News

Thailand’s Losing Its Edge — Is Vietnam the Next Real Deal?
J Branche replied to Scouse123's topic in General Topics
People are done with the Currency Manipulation that Thailand is implementing. Economy not doing well but surprise USD is down 11.6% against the Baht but USD is up 2.6% against the Vietnamese currency. Others Year over Year Yuan (China) down 10.6% Pound down approx 6% Cambodian Riel down 9.5% Vietnamese currency down 14.23% Australian Dollar down 12.72% I would immediately place Thailand on the list of Countries Manipulating Currency and stop all but essential trade until it is corrected. -

No expert but briefly checked a 2 week policy is from $25 to $50 USD. Read the Exclusions which do mention drugs, not alcohol. I've had good results with the Travel Insurance I've had, food poisoning, submitted claim and had money in under 2 weeks. Some mentioned advancing money if hospital requires it for admission. Hope he recovers but don't expect much sympathy here when it only costs $25 USD.

No. I would probably take photos and alert the media to hopefully find the rightful owner. Think of it like guy has helper clearing some stuff out and they put out a bin you didn't know they grabbed, you would want someone to do the right thing. Even the Thais know this guys story is allegedly false. Someone who supposedly workes with Anti Corruption in some form has large amount of unexplained wealth. Allegedly withdraws money from bank in 2020 but No proof from bank. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then its probably a duck.

Report Diners Stop Customer Trying to Skip VAT at Bangkok Ramen Restaurant
J Branche replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Wait till you import simple stuff like Tennis Strings and Quality Shoes from USA. Hit with 41.1% Tax, VAT, Brokerage Fee. Thailand has a Free Trade Agreement with China. US should definitely do the Exact Same Tariffs to Thailand. So China can dump stuff in Thailand for peanuts but your going to exploit other countries with high import rates for what reasons? China can do ALOT more damage to the Thai Economy than many other countries. -
Read Thaiger and Pattaya Mail story and no mention of cost. Maybe get the Police to actually do some effective Patrolling and not hide behind a video screen remote operating a drone. Seriously if they can't see the thousands of Thais not wearing helmets but catch the Foreigners how can you expect them to use this effectively. Sorry to say but unless someone in Authority is putting pressure on the Boys in Brown to execute than it will be a new tech gadget to play with that will probably be crashed, blown away in the wind, or broken and take a long time to repair.

You need to check with a professional but why would the money coming from one person have anything to do with whose names you want on the Chanote? Yes we paid 6000 baht for a popular attorney to create wills for use leaving the Condo to the other if one should pass. There should be no gift tax as it would only be half of the total price possibly gifted. Unless the property is valued over 20 million baht as the current tax free gift rate is 10 million baht per person per year.

Can anyone say Currency Manipulation? Some sources claim it is tied more to Gold. China has 10X the Gold Reserves and currency is down 10% against the Baht. USD 10.3% Yuan is up 3% against the Vietnamese currency I will not name :) Yuan only down 1.3 against Cambodian Riel. If it were me I would raise Tariffs on Thailand until they reduce the Tariffs on US imports. 41.1% (3588 Baht) after subtracting the UPS fee for my $255 approx 8320 baht order. That is one arriving Today 6/6/25 If I were in control I would say unless we get fair deal like China then we will continue to penalize Thailand Imports with the same rate as US goods are charged for its abusive and excessive Tariffs/Duties/Import Fees/VAT on imported US goods. Sorry for Venting. I see the Baht as pretty much bottomed maybe 1% or 2% down from current level but between 32.50 and 32.80 against USD for the next month. As for any further ahead will have to wait for news, policies, and economic forecast.
