Whoops! Avoiding cultural faux pas when visiting Thailand
NoDisplayName replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Don't know if it's still a thing, but long ago back in the states, my relatives had St. Christopher medals hanging on the rear-view mirror. -
The fine for driving without a license is 1000 baht. The fine for driving on an expired license is 2000 baht. You were ticketed for unlawful parking, not while driving, so I doubt that would apply. Anyone could have borrowed your car and parked in a no parking area. Nothing illegal about owning a car without a license and having someone else drive it.

The schoolgirl outfits are very popular in China. They love to play dress-up in Korean/Japanese cosplay outfits and spend hours taking photos for their WeChat pages and making cute dance videos for TikTok.

TM47 make photocopy from smartphone?
NoDisplayName replied to rutteketuut's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The TM47 confirmation email includes an attached receipt PDF. Save the PDF on your phone and laptop, and copy to a USB. Next time you're at the mall, copy shop can print from your USB. -
Motorbike road trip to Tibet and maybe some of northern India
NoDisplayName replied to banglay's topic in Pattaya
I believe you'll need a special Tibet travel visa in addition to your China visa. There are tour companies that organize all this for you, for a price, so better in a group. You could check this site for some related info: https://www.gt-rider.com/ https://www.gt-rider.com/se-asia-motorcycling/threads/tibet-tour-april-2016-day-11-to-day-14-the-run-home.13064/ -
Where should/will an agent register me?
NoDisplayName replied to trax33's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When the agent puts 800K into your account for a couple hours and then immediately withdraws it, you'll be needing an agent again next year as you haven't maintained the correct balance in your bank account throughout the year. -
I recall seeing one in the parking garage. Haven't been there in a couple years, but expect it's still there.

Looking at other surgeries available locally........coronary bypass or valve replacement under $15K, hip or knee replacement around $10K.....I would bet his required surgeries would be less than a commercial repatriation flight. But a gofundme free flight and free surgery from NHS would be the most economical option if they're having difficulties with their insurance carrier.

You can send email from your phone? Attach photo from phone memory, send to your laptop. Otherwise you can transfer via bluetooth from phone to laptop. If you need a clear copy, any copy shop in the nearest soi can scan your passport onto your USB for 10 baht.. That's probably the best option, as you should always have a good electronic copy of your passport available.

Reading the linked article in the Daily Mail, there was no claim that the insurance company is refusing to pay medical expenses. There was the statement that "the couple's medical bills have piled up," but no indication that any claims have been denied. It seems the full amount embegged is solely for the return flight. From the article: I would take from this that repatriation costs were not included in the insurance policy. It appears that they want to purchase a private air ambulance for the flight home.

"In Bali, weed is also highly illegal. The possession, sale, and consumption of marijuana in Bali is punishable with 10 years in prison. " They carried weed in their bags to Bali? They must have been high! -
CBD Banned in Hong Kong with Prison Sentence and Fine

Who would be foolish enough to carry vape pens or cannabis oil products across international borders? Doesn't matter if it's legal (or illegal but not enforced) where you currently are, with or without prescription. If it's legal there, you can buy it there. Otherwise...........stupid prizes. -
Chairs and tables are taxed to use the roads? Amazing Thailand!
