  1. Maybe it's your bank. I've had no problems sending dollars to Wise using the Evolve account. I set up the new link with my credit union. They sent a confirmation code to activate the CFSB account, no trial deposits, at least not yet. I'll do a $1 test transfer to confirm.
  2. I've got Firefox with AdBlock and YesScript. No ads or popups on Youtube. Last week started getting a popup warning "Ad blockers are not allowed" about five seconds into my first video. Hit the "X" to close, restart the video. "No ad blockers" popup does not reappear no matter how many videos I watch after that.
  3. Could also try Lumpini Park. Pedal the swan paddle boats, chase the giant water monitors.
  4. Might be important if anyone has automatic transfers set up for their 65K/monthly transfers.
  5. Ride the canal boats. Jump on and off, visiting sights along the canals. Is the Batcat museum/toystore at LamSali (Bangkapi Mall) still open?
  6. Only at the border. And only about $5.
  7. Have you considered a nice, long walk? Take the train to Aranyaprathet. Walk to Siem Reap, across to Stung Treng, then north to Pakse, and then over to Ubon Ratchitani. There's the 750km walkabout you've always wanted to experience.
  8. Received an email from Wise telling me the USD account details will change as of October 31. Logged onto Wise, noted the new routing number, account number and address. Set up a link from my credit union to send money to wise using the information provided. The link for Wise previously was Evolve Bank and Trust. The new link is with Community Federal Savings Bank. The SWIFT code is unchanged. Here's an interesting tidbit from the memory hole (2 years ago on reddit): and from yahoo in 2016:
  9. Yes, apparently. My wife will have a flu vaccine provided thru her Aetna/Bupa insurance with southern strain vaccine. https://www.who.int/news/item/23-09-2022-new-recommendations-for-the-composition-of-influenza-vaccines-in-2023-for-the-southern-hemisphere m
  10. Agreed. They should condemn the apartheid state's 70-year pogrom of ethnic cleansing. as well as their illicit nukular weapons program.
  11. Authorities? If the population don't care about their own family members, they can't be saved by authority.
  12. Good idea, the walking (or cycling) part. Do it, but not that route. I've done part of it by bicycle. Main highway has too much traffic, back roads too many dogs. Fewer dogs once south of Hat Yai. Why not get a re-entry permit, take a train to Nong Khai, then walk (or cycle) to Huai Xay?
  13. If you're going to complain about their speech or pronunciation, at least spell the name wright and use the correct verbs.
  14. But was it? There is a traffic signal just before that U-turn. Did the motorcyclist, and the car he seems to be undertaking, blow through a red light?
  15. cool headline gets you all excited, but the linked article explains Oh. Never mind.
  16. I know, I know. I got the same response back in Texasland, when I questioned why someone would choose to stand in line at the post office at 11:59 PM on April 15th to get that essential postmark on their tax return. "Duh!"
  17. Where's the desperation? Darwin award contender.
  18. Why worry about deadlines? Why wait. It's fast and easy. Takes five minutes online. Painless.
  19. China. You'll need a VPN to access the intertubes. Not illegal, but discouraged.
  20. Where is "here"? The googles works fine in Korat. As to the queen, still at large. But this is nothing serious, merely death threats. She hasn't done anything extremist, you know, like protesting and honking the horns.
  21. Not quite. You two are not married. SHE has 2 homes paid for by you. With no parents, in the event of her passing before you, and assuming no will, her <deleted> son will own two houses paid for by you. Assuming no usufruct, you, as legally just some dude she shacked up with, can pay rent to the son who now owns the house you paid for.
  22. It seems strange that Americans would want to give up full time positions with full benefits like health care and pensions and career progression, etc..........but somehow now prefer ueber side gigs and burger flipper engineering slots and positions as official wal-mart greeters instead. I'm not buyin' it.
  23. That sounds wonderful. But then you ask for the details. What do they mean by "jobs"? If we're losing full time positions, replacing them with more part time positions, is that still considered winning?
