  1. I got this woman interested in me and she invited me to come and see her town. Her house is right on the river. Looks good! I'm surprised... Clean looking modern mega city. A bonus; Mekong girls are quite famous marrying Western men. https://vinpearl.com/en/can-tho-vietnam-the-ultimate-travel-guide-for-2024 Anybody been there?
  2. Thank you! I have found couple of reasons why I lost LINE. I didn't understand PC LINE is always tied to either Android or Apple phone (via Bluetooth?). Mine was on Samsung/Android. I got rid of gmail address and switched to yahoo. That may have been the reason to loose all and no PIN code coming. The other reason was/is I don't keep camera or Chrome ON on my Samsung. I got rid of all Google stuff (for increased ads and spying) but may have to go back if I want LINE. Or - Is there other way?
  3. My wait was 120 days... It's still the same, according the website. They do that way so you don't realize quickly they cheat you and they hope you continue doing reservations.
  4. I agree - Agoda no good. I lost $ 6.00 "cash back" because I didn't want to keep my CC on their file " for future reservations". Same with their App, they push it hard. I don't use it. Now, $ 6 is nothing but I got p... off the way they lie. They send me a letter; " Our CASH BACK is a gift". No obligation to pay.... After reading fine print it is there too! What a joke company - part of Booking, com. They sell same hotels under two different names in Vietnam. They make it to look like there's competition. That happened 2 times to me. I also had bad experience with Traveloka, com. A few days after booking and paying by the CC I got 5 same day charges totaling $ 791.00. All in the US, Texas and Kentucky, while I was in Vietnam. My bank's investigator at Chase told me "There's a ring in Asia who sell CC info to US crooks who use the card. Chase deleted all charges. I try always use cash but sometimes can't, like future hotels. I am very selective where I use my cards but sh..t happens. Sample how they operate; 13. Re: Agoda cashback rewards Mar 26, 2024, 6:58 PM It's basically a scam. When you go and try and redeem your cashback rewards, it will give you an error saying "oops there is a problem, come back in 24 hours". Which never goes away. Finally you go and check the terms and conditions, and discover it's actually a scam: 5. Please note that the cashback reward, being a gift from Agoda to you as a valued User, is at and shall remain at all times in Agoda’s sole and absolute discretion. You understand and accept that Agoda will not at any time incur any obligation to you in respect of the cashback reward, and you will not have any claim against Agoda in respect of the cashback reward."
  5. Diesels can be handy - sometimes:
  6. Las Vegas race cost was 500 mil USD. That's 18,296,750,000THB... Nice idea but will never happen. Vietnam tried too but no go. Buriram has MotoGP but not enough hotels etc to be world class. This race should be near Pattaya, at "Bira Circuit". https://bira.co.th/
  7. Van Life is an answer for city parking. It's very popular and I'm trying it next in Europe. In EU area many gas station chains offer safe place to park, shower n breakfast"ˇ for cheap. My budget is low, to see if I like it, and I don't want to take a bath when I sell it it's not for me. There are thousands on great videos since van people are not bozos who buy "the biggest n best" to show off. https://bearfoottheory.com/van-life-101-how-to-guide/ NOTE; This is only for 4-5 months in summer time! For winter it's Asia again, or Spain or the US, etc. Gotta have 26 C minimum.
  8. I started to do same after bad treatment by 2 women at BKK. In every other country I get better service by women. probably because I'm good looking -;)
  9. I've had LINE working to pc for 6+ years but after LINE did "update" it's gone. I try to follow given instructions by LINE but no luck. I'm not that smart on SmatPhones and apps... don't like to use it much. At one point LINE is asking to give PIN code but nothing's coming to me. I don't know why. What functions I must have working on my phone to be able to transfer to PC? I try to keep everything minimum to eliminate Google's hunger for info steeling. Thanks!
  10. Perfect planning! Enjoy. I'll do same all the way up to Hanoi.
  11. I flew to both cities from DMK by AirAsia. One ways were about $ 45-55. Nha Trang airport is CRX - Cam Ranch. Bus to Nha Trang was $3,50 / 80000VND. No need for reservation, just step in and pay cash. At DaNang airport area, walk about 100 meters to other side of the arch, you get -50% off the taxi since they'll make a U-turn and don't pay the airport fee 🙂 I don't think train is better for you if you plan to travel at night. You can't save that much and don't see anything. The coast is beautiful, I've been told. I'll do it next winter. Day time is fine and in short sections. Stop n go as you please. Tickets are very cheap. After visiting Dalat I took a suicide bus down to Thap Cham. Then a train to Nha Trang to see country side and check out Vn trains. It was nice and cheap. They sell food, snacks, fruits and drink in train. Sometimes an old military dressed woman came by and yelled loud about something. People laughed but small kids were scared. I think it was just a show? Enjoy! You may be the only farang, like I was, and get lot of friendly attentions from kids. They wanted to speak English and could pretty well. I asked "How did you learn?" "With Apple!" was an answer. Steve Jobs did some good to Vietnamese kids, I think.
  12. " It also states no visa required for 21, 30 and 59 days, so no idea which is correct." I think it's kind of them to brake you in what's waiting for once there and how policies and communications work. Or, don't work. I'll visit too. No problem. Countless of beautiful islands to explore and ladies are friendly.
  13. Link; https://edition.cnn.com/travel/sambuca-sicily-cheap-homes-three-euros/index.html Fixing is NOT expensive if you don't want luxury. Why? Because no demands nor fast rules what you wanna do. "Most of the people who’ve been lured to this remote spot in Sicily, situated far from the touristy crowds, are from the US. This has helped to create a “Little America,” with most residents now speaking some English with a Sicilian accent, even the elders."
  14. Very interesting report; Damn... link has gone missing!? Was on Yahoo News. This is an other one but the Yahoo one was the best. https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t&ei=UTF-8&p=1+euro+house+in+sicily#id=1&vid=15d0e1a03051612d980f48f923755003&action=click
  15. I found help for my pre-paid Ultra Ph# problem (SSA not accepting it); I can go to my local post office in person next time I'm in the US. Looks like ID,me works same too, haven't tried yet. https://www.login.gov/help/verify-your-identity/verify-your-identity-in-person/
  16. Only a fool will take a risk when you get $ 50 000 on CD interest a year.
  17. Not always "Happy ending" to move out. I feel same in UT as these people. https://www.yahoo.com/news/conservative-latino-family-regretful-moving-220056774.html PS. I'm not conservative - anything but... "CA beach bum" more fitting for me.
  18. Do you like old classic bikes? Nha Trang has them at "Palms Bistro" restaurant. Old restored German Nazi era bikes, mainly BMW, and others. Some must be very valuable. Brad Pitts paid $ 400 000 for one similar. https://www.cotrang.org/tin-tuc/palms-bistro-nha-trang-50-le-thanh-ton-menu-hinh-anh-thuc-te-n35.html Food looks good too but I didn't eat there. They let me check out bikes anyway.
  19. Very good points! Long time ago I was looking to live in Tucson but 110F didn't feel like my kind of weather... I like hot but not that hot. But then I visited Prescott 2 times and that was a real cool place! Nice weather too. Down town attraction can make ex Pattaya alcoholics to feel at home; https://www.prescott.com/whiskey-row One thing I didn't like - people were packing real guns... I will never live among gun nuts! Utah's same, church going folk are packing irons. Openly. "After receiving an Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), you are allowed to carry a concealed firearm in most places within the state of Arizona."
  20. Run your UltraMobile phone number through this phone number checking website: https://www.phonevalidator.com/ " I did try. Thanks for the link! But no go... I've tried to hide all tracks to be able to live quiet private life. I've been very good at that... That web site shows my 15 years old address in N. Hollywood! That must be the problem now but I don't understand why since the Gov has my latest real address and phone # on the FRONT page! If I knew when they have "Bring the child to work day" I could call and get it sorted out 🙂
  21. I have had this for 4 years and it's been working fine. However, no more! The problem is there's no registration and no name who owns it. In January I lost ability to use it for US banks. I called and they told me so - "no owner info available". Funny thing is that number is listed on all accounts and nobody protested when I opened an account! Yesterday I tried to create Login, gov but could not. UltraMobile number is showing on my SSA front page but not on the menu "Communications". It shows "no cell phone number provided". Meaning, no security codes nor messages via SMS. Gotta try to get ID,me when back to the States.
  22. A good take on StG 🙂 I like it's super clean and safe. That's about it. Otherwise, only junk food restaurants (a few Thai and Vietnamese are all bad) and cesspool of expensive "Ben Casey doctors" taking care of dying rich people from California... I could live in MANY places but not alone. A good woman, wife, can make life good anywhere. Women has skills to adapt to anything.
  23. This has been going on long time in Europe. The first big one was in Denmark - Christiania "Free Town". https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/05/realestate/christiania-denmark.html In Spain during 2006 bank crises they took over towns too. Most buildings were half finished. And still are. Squatters are renting room for tourists for cheap! There's very lax law enforcement to kick them out; "Under Spanish law, squatting is not explicitly permitted; however, certain conditions may provide squatters with some level of legal standing. For instance, if a property is not adequately secured and is left unattended, it becomes vulnerable to occupation." If/when cost of living gets so expensive regular working class can't afford home I feel it OK. I say that knowing I may become a victim too...
  24. Congrats! Thank you for bringing up this new SSA login policy. It was new to me. I wonder; How in hell all older people cope with this? Those who don't know how to switch on pc or don't use SmartPhones? There are less and less SSA offices in the US and world wide. It'll be golden opportunity for crooks to "go and help" ... and make a mistake on bank account number etc.
