  1. Yeah, I'd pay. Specially if my Thai gf was w me. I used to be like you, veins full of piss & vinegar, but it scared my gf so much I stopped. Thais are scared of brown & green men/women. One time I was invited to political meeting in Ban Phen. Hearing that my hotel owner asked me to move... He said "It's never a good idea for farang to get into That politics". He was very scared. That opened my eyes.
  2. I do believe they can start fires if there's dry branches. And they are HOT. They also are SO ugly! Thailand has 1000 yr old stone and 500 yr old wood benches, why SS?
  3. Can I come with you? I need entertainment....
  4. Thank you! Both are perfect. Pinnacle is very nice for $ 32-night w great breakfast if pre-paid 30 days in advance. I'm surprised prices as low as in Jomtien. BKK airport area is much more for run down places. Last time I stayed in downtown Bangkok was 1975... $5/nite w hot water or $4 without. Took w cold 🙂
  5. That's what hi humidity does to you - you get confused.... 🙂
  6. I'd like to stay for week or 2 near Lumphini Park on late October to see if I like it. Apartment or long stay hotel OK. Any recommendations?
  7. Original info is useless without humidity report. Weatherspark has great info around the world. https://weatherspark.com/y/113385/Average-Weather-in-Phatthaya-Thailand-Year-Round
  8. You are an example what's wrong in the US: "If you are not like me you are an idiot!"
  9. It CAN be too shiny; https://www.npr.org/2005/03/18/4541963/l-a-s-disney-hall-shines-a-bit-too-brightly
  10. There's nothing confusing, just play the game; When you arrive go to hotel for 1 nite and get a paper copy of TM30 (keep it in case they ask it later). When you need extension go to same hotel for 1 nite and get a paper copy. No problems. - That way it looks you've stayed there 30 days....
  11. Here's an interesting list of alternatives and Thailand is improving (to my pleasant surprise): https://www.internations.org/expat-insider/2024/best-and-worst-places-for-expats-40450 - Spain and Vietnam already were on my top 5 list - Panama is getting more popular thanks to using USD and many speak English - Popular "90 day fiance" showed how beautiful "Bocas del Toro" islands are. A friend of mine moved there from California and is very happy. It's on my short bucket list to visit. "If you are looking for activities in the sea, the Bocas Archipelago is a destination not to be missed. Its nine islands and thousands of islets, its crystal clear waters with a constant temperature of 79 °F (26 ºC) and its types of waves and surf spots have made it famous around the world." Forbes; https://www.forbes.com/sites/petertaylor/2023/06/14/ive-traveled-to-six-continents-and-bocas-del-toro-panam-is-about-to-become-the-coolest-place-on-earth-heres-why/ "We ultimately chose Panamá because of the stable government, U.S. dollar, overall safety, and zero hurricanes."
  12. 75% of all could my opinions based on my experiences; https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/people-whove-lived-abroad-sharing-181602775.html I still like the US and hope things would change to better so I could return and live full time happily there.
  13. I was reading some news (can't find it now) Thailand is disappointed to low numbers of Indian, Chinese and Russians coming to Thailand. They were counted to save the economy... That may be the main reason to relax rules to us?
  14. "Emirates Airline who I will be using as I have a lot of air miles to use" If so, use your miles to buy on-ward ticket. Then cancel and get points back to your account. You only loose small booking fee. Works for me on One World account.
  15. No Thai cities on the list; https://www.imd.org/smart-city-observatory/home/rankings/ - Not my list. I've lived in some of those but winters suck... not liveable for me.
  16. They should hire Alec Baldwin! That gay can drop you shooting blanks....
  17. That's what I thought until she found it... But the sex was so good I ignored and wrote off as "a private 6 figure sheet fee".
  18. The richer they get more crooked things come in light... very sad. They are happy UK is not part of EU. More freedom to move money around. Google; wise owner fined for tax evasion - Their own promise "to guard the funds to their best ability" means nothing. - Otherwise, their idea to use funds that already are in receiving country is brilliant. However, dollar-to-dollar, euro-to-euro won't work.
  19. Georgia, next to Turkyet, 360 days visa free is better. Will be part of EU & NATO within 5 years. EU visas from Georgia to some EU countries are know to be easier to get than most others.
  20. This the best news for me in 6 years and I've changed my plans thanks to it. I'll spend more time and money in Thailand! You guys have been very good cutting through the BS and misinformation. Thanks for it!
  21. An other reason I like Vietnam; https://vietnamtourism.gov.vn/en/post/19449 That Tourist site is a good source. Sure, it's promoting but refreshingly honest to my experience. Story behind hotel boom from 2019: https://skift.com/2019/01/15/the-method-to-the-madness-behind-vietnams-crazy-hotel-boom/ Sample of dead dream: https://e.vnexpress.net/photo/news/half-finished-hotel-projects-leave-central-vietnams-coast-wasted-4572836.html
  22. Vietnam is good, even great, if you bring food and woman with you from Thailand 🙂
  23. I guess it's waiting for a year to enter. Or 25.
