Extension Online "Faster & Easier" NO!
Are you sitting comfortably? Let us begin... Over the years, five successful visa applications at VFS at their original location, as well as a couple at Trendy. Two successful passport renewals, received in a little over two weeks both times. Two successful first passports for my dual-nationality children, took a little over three weeks each time. My friend did a no-appointment, walk-in passport renewal application and subsequent collection at Trendy a couple of months back. Picked up the new one three weeks later. If you have issues with tying shoelaces, you can always try slip-ons.

Is friend entitled to pink ID card - How to get it issued?
My experience at Bangkok Bank in Pattaya at the branch where my account resides, I offered the pink ID card for ID at a teller transaction. It has my face and Udon Thani address on it. She smiled sweetly, and politely declined, requesting my passport, which I didn't have with me. I offered my Thai DL which has my Udon Thani address and passport number on it and that was accepted. The only time my pink card has leveraged anything was when I was securing a car note (finance) but it was more belt-and-braces for the finance company than a mandatory requirement. Typical Thai bureaucracy where they simply wanted signed copies of as many things as possible that identified me.

Is friend entitled to pink ID card - How to get it issued?
The place of residence of this out-of-touch teacher needs to be verified first, ie. renting, co-habiting, married and living together, etc.. Then ascertain if the local Amphur is farang-friendly as some still live in the dark ages. Off topic (bear with me) but if he's managed 20-odd years without one, why the need now? It does not confer much more than an additional proof of domicile, it is only accepted for official ID (sometimes) in the province of issue and does not guarantee preferential treatment or rates at government hospitals or national parks.

With the likelihood of paying tax starting from next year, the idea of snow birding or having a third base in one's plans seems prescient.

I have enough of it, what are my options?
I haven't had issues with viruses on Windows machines since I got rid of the various, overinflated AV/spyware programs and just left it to Window's own Defender app to look after stuff.

Battery.
My recently retired 12 year-old ASUS laptop was still good enough on the original, user replaceable battery after 5 years, but I thought that was pushing the envelope and getting a replacement when I needed it would be more difficult, so I ordered a spare. Both batteries are still good. The new ASUS laptop has the built-in battery, but a YouTube showed how easy it is to replace when needed. I have already upgraded the SSD.

savannakhet now require bank statement (400k) for 1 year multi visa (non-O marriage or Thai family)
I was offered a 1 year ME non o by an agent in Savannakhet I would be very wary of pursuing that route. Several years ago, there was a scandal at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur when some unused visa stickers came up missing. More recently, I recall a worker at one of their Chinese legations being arrested for charging Chinese students non-immigrant visa rates for their student visas. Their consular efforts seem to be fair game for their in-house scammers. I got my 1-year MENO in Savanakhet last February, on my first three re-entries at Suvarnabhumi this year, the IO's did several close inspections of the visa sticker, tilting it under different light, before stamping me in. The re-entry ten days ago was the first time it didn't get the extra scrutiny. I would assume that the IO's are now aware that Savanakhet Consulate now needs proof of funds so any recently issued MENO's will probably get closely examined.

So based on that, you think the agents will double their prices? I guess we can agree to disagree. If anything, the agent bandwagon has got cheaper over the years. This despite arguably more people being unable/unwilling to bank here.

Best delivery service Toronto to Pattaya
I recently had a DHL package from the UK that was delivered to me in Udon by a local, unmarked courier van with the DHL lady as the passenger.
