You may have disowned your homeland but it hasn't disowned you. And it sounds like you may need to bank there? Do you still retain an address and bank accounts in the UK? If you do, the bank will make sure the HMRC knows about it. Off topic, but it's not very easy to open a UK offshore account remotely, especially if one has 'burned one's bridges' there. Most are only interested in high net worth individuals where they can assign 'relationship managers' to sell additional services. On a recent thread on the matter, Lloyds was mentioned as having the lowest opening/retaining deposit. All of them are enrolled in KYC (know your customer) so there's no hiding anything anymore.

That's the reason I opened a Revolut account as a UK banking backup. I have only used it to test the £ and $ account functionality for when it may be needed in a hurry. Test it every 3 months. I went with the metal account option, although I haven't availed myself of using the card or any of the other freebies. The app is slick but was a bit of a problem when logging in from offshore via slower satellite connections. Yes, did it all online and through their app while in Thailand. Can't have taken much more than 20 minutes to set up a £ and $ account.

Don Mueang Reveals Conditions For Carrying Spare Batteries On Airplanes
NanLaew replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
From what I understand, they are more durable for the short-flight, higher-cycle of the LCC aircraft and easier for cabin crew to clean during the fast turnarounds as LCC's don't contract cleaning crews outside their hub airports. -

Power Bank Explosion Causes Panic on AirAsia Flight

It's an addiction for some. Being unable to play with one's smartphone for any length of time induces something akin to ADHD in some people (almost). -
Power Bank Explosion Causes Panic on AirAsia Flight
NanLaew replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Have you ever tried keeping the phone turned off for the duration of the flight? That's if you ever turned it off in the first place. What on earth is so life-threateningly bad about NOT being able to play with your phone for a few hours? This smartphone addiction is pathetic. Having said that, Li-ion power sources, be they inside a smartphone or a power bank, have a very, very remote tendency to self-combust when not in use. Following on from @digger70's suggestion, having an air sickness bag that doubles as a hot-fire containment bag seems a very clever solution to a very small problem. -

Don Mueang Reveals Conditions For Carrying Spare Batteries On Airplanes

The power bank started smoking while it was inside carry-on baggage in the overhead. The carry-on bag was removed from the overhead. The hot power bank was removed from the carry-on bag. The hot power bank was placed on the seat before AirAsia flight crew placed it in the Li-ion battery fire containment bag that's required by all airlines. AirAsia has leather seats, not 'leather' seats. Next? -
Pawned Cars For Sale - Very Cheap

MB technology is reverse-engineered into Japanese and Korean cars "within 18 months"? You made that up, didn't you? If you can't afford to buy a new MB and pay for genuine MB service, then you should stick with "Japanese and Korean" from the get go. You can self-service a Japanese and Korean build and get away with it. Not so much with the 'high-tech' MB (and Beemers). Most Thai MB owners do it for the prestige and the 'look at me' factor and eschew MB's expensive servicing. Hell, most ignore the recommended servicing on their Toyotas. That's why, as you have discovered, the second-hand MB market here is chock-full of bad lemons. -

As you have noticed, they're time-consuming to make, yet you balk at the prices being asked by the baker who has spent the extra time to make something you like but can't be arsed to make.

Bathtub replacement time. There's a really nice, plastic, floor-standing, tub-style one that's popping up frequently in my lazada app. ...and lose some weight.

I have done this with DHL in Pattaya and Udon Thani, also with FedEx in Pattaya for the same reason: avoids the delivery driver calling and asking "u-nai?" If possible, deal with the main service center for your location, as they may have several independent businesses that act as their agents. Some are good, but others may miss the fact that your package is addressed to them and still hand it to a delivery guy. Then it comes back with him as undelivered at the end of his working day and only then do they call. You need to state your name and "c/o" the DHL service center address. Make sure that YOUR contact phone number is listed correctly. You need to use the address for the service center that's listed on their website, but note that this needs to be correct. For a while, the listed address for their Pattaya service center as published on their own website wasn't in a format that their online destination address form accepted. It's that tambon and amphur thing! For belt at braces, make sure that the staff at the receiving service center are aware that you have important docs coming for collection. The staff at FedEx were excellent and would call pretty quickly and could collect my package before going for breakfast. Although you may have already introduced yourself and they know you, bring your passport for ID purposes at collection time.
