Where can I go to find myself
JimTripper replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If they are unsatisfied where they are, there's no harm in moving. You can't not act because something "may" be worse elsewhere. The reality is they are not satisfied with the current situation, and the future is not told. Not everything is just in our head, the outer circumstances effect us as well. -

Not me. I would consider the request man to man. I don't care what country they are from. -

Why do you need to bring up the nationality defense for everything? ???? These guys are being di@ks. They need to shut up and turn the music down. -

Have you tried telling them to shut up? Not everyone is violent or hates foreigners, everybody is different. -

They might have things they need to do other then drinking and partying all day. Some people over here actually work and need to make phone calls with people back home, or are running businesses here. Not everyone over here is just a drunk or waking up late and sitting in a bar so it does not matter. -
I just saw a 95 square meter condo with marble countertops and leather furniture, in the center of pattaya, huge balcony for 19k a month. I would suggest getting a place for a year lease, looking in person, then looking for a place to buy (If you still want to). Airbnb is hit or miss, the pictures are often deceptive, and over priced. If you have money why don't you just rent a nicer place? I rent for around 20k and it's fine. Over that you move into pretty nice places. Buying the condo could be more about not feeling at home in Thailand that shuffles you around no matter what you do. The system feels set up to keep pushing you around with constant reporting, etc. Sometimes it feels intentional like a way of keeping foreigners from settling comfortably in the country.????

Just think of how cheap it is to live there and what a deal you are getting ???? -
How old are you? Do you have other funds or plans when you get older say 70-80, or are you planning to retire in the new condo purchase? If your running low on money I probably would not purchase something. If something happens your skint broke. If you just rent, you could keep the million and if it dips below that, bite the bullet and just keep moving into cheaper rental places. They go way down cheap, as you probably know so you would always have that option, but of course it may not be preferable or comfortable ????, but in a place like Thailand at least it's safe. Other countries, when you live cheaply it starts getting real dangerous so it's nice to have that option here.

How much are you paying a month now?

Jomtien Immigration - holy <deleted>, busier than pre-Covid 3 years ago!

Do they have signage where to go, what line to get in, or is it a "not know what to do" scenario? -
I think Rudi was the guy. He would come out and greet customers. I'm surprised he is still there as I was there many years ago. I'm not sure why I was curious about him. I just remember chatting with him once and wondered what happened to him. ????♂️

Who has retired to other Asian countries?
JimTripper replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Goto the most expensive place you can afford would be good advice ???? -
Do you have experience renting in Thailand? What price of place are you comfortable living in on a yearly lease? What are you paying for a place now? That will help determine whether it's worth risking buying this unit.

Is Gekko Garden still open under the original owner?

Does the poster mind that there's no security, staff or other residents around? I would find it preferable personally, but it's still a red flag as far as the project as a whole goes and if things don't get maintained it would be a negative. It's all about what works for you. If you unit works, and you don't care about being catered to, that's what matters. They need to do the math on the property price and what lifestyle they would be renting otherwise to know if it's worth the risk. You said the purchase price was around a million. What's your lifestyle like, are you comfortable in a 4k a month room for say a year, or are you a 20k a month guy?

This smells like someone who wants to do a Covid flip by buying now low, then selling later at a large profit when things bounce back. Maybe the seller dropped that line. Problem is, you don't know where the bottom is. It could be years out, never bounce back at all, or the price could be low for other reasons, not what you think. If it's only a million though and they want to live there, they could give it a shot maybe. They break even on rent in 4-5 years then try to sell and just gamble the situation does not get worse then it is now, or just let it sit, or just retire there. If it goes under before they break even they lose a little, but get back in rent the time they stayed.

Why don't you goto a real massage place? They wear the silk dresses and traditional clothing. They will have an option for hard or soft massage. You don't want to walk into a nameless shop and have someone in street clothes putting weird pressure on your back. It could just be someone who was hired yesterday from upcountry somewhere who was a rice farmer. It could end up hurting you or pulling a muscle.

Already discussed to death, don't buy property. It's common for these projects to go belly up, or not even be built at all with people buying off plan. You end up losing your money.

Special Feature: What happens when a foreigner dies in Thailand???
JimTripper replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't think "bank runs" are allowed anywhere. Otherwise there would be a 'bank run' after anyone passes. Maybe even people waiting right there to transfer funds or at the ATM and the inheritance system would not work. In the USA if you withdraw the court can see it when it goes to probate after a death is recorded by the County. The investigators ID the deceased at the time of death, it's registered with the Court system and the court freezes all the financial accounts by social security number and requisitions all the financial records which are reviewed during probate and disbursed to amily members accordingly either with or without a will. The judge will ask about any withdrawls after the approximate time of death given by the coroner and you will need to answer. -
Walking St Discos closed before 2am today - what's the go?
JimTripper replied to bbi1's topic in Pattaya
I don't get up early, but I'm usually up by 10am, even if I went to bed before midnight. So I typically get around 10 hours of sleep. Some people just need more sleep. It does not mean I'm lazy. -
Building management should assist if there is rukus/noise after hours or even during the daytime. Talk to someone else in management or get another neighbor to do it that is more respected or speaks Thai well etc if the management is not very understanding. Or get another neighbor to go with you to the office so there are two of you there. I can't see them doing nothing in that case. You need to keep complaining tactfully to get a response, not just a few times. Mention it when paying the rent, or just keep calling so the security guy gets <deleted> off and tries harder. If the security guy keeps getting calls it implies he is not doing his job, so he gets the message in that Thai way. If they don't know you and they are not directly opposite you can put small tiny nails in the keyhole to the lock. They will need a locksmith each time and will get the message or move, but don't do it if you have complained or they will know it's you by asking the security guy or from gossip. How you do this is you stop and pretend to tie your shoes then slip the nails in as you stand up. That way if there is a camera or a neighbor is looking through a peephole they are not sure it was you. It's best to just put in one tiny nail or pin, a needle works too. Just one is enough to <deleted> up the lock. It also makes it harder for the locksmith to report the cause to the resident, which they will surely be looking for during the repair. Usually they can't get it out as it takes too long to disassemble the whole <deleted> thing and a hole new lock needs to be put in.
