The O-A is only good for 2 years, so if your here many years you must already be on an O, unless your getting a new one and applying in your home country every 2 years. When your O-A expires immigration changes it to an O which theoretically does not need the insurance, not another O-A. I'm not sure why you would still be needing the insurance that the O-A requires???

Thanks. Do the entries get renewed for the 2nd year, or would I need to stay in Thailand the whole 2nd year?

Is it correct I can stay 2 years on a multiple entry O-A visa without having to move money into a Thai bank or going into immigration? My understanding is I am stamped in on arrival for 1-year, then I do a border hop from anywhere before the year ends, and am stamped in for another year. How would they know I had health insurance for the 2nd year if I'm just stamped in at a land border, do they check it there?

Indian man rips out passport pages to hide Thailand trip from wife
JimTripper replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I did that in Cambodia when I ran low on pages, but there were some I could just peel off and place over old stickers. They were all very old and expired and from other countries. I thought it was Ok because they were expired and not stickers or a passport from the country I was in at the moment so they had no rights over them. Immigration in Cambodia noticed it and the head guy at the airport peeled them all off and put back on empty pages, carefully lining up the stamp they do halfway over the sticker and page. It was uncomfortable ???? and I don't mess with the stickers anymore. -

In high school we used to take small nails (the kind that look like small pins without the head) from wood shop class and drop them into the door lock hole when nobody was looking, usually for classes that started at 8:30 am the next morning. The class would get cancelled because the locksmith would need to come in the morning to change out the entire lock when the teacher tried to unlock the door. The funny thing about it is you can't tell why the door won't work. It just feels like you have the wrong key.

I think they just said that so people did not wait around all day and take up the chairs. When the people were processed they gave out more numbers as room became available. Obviously, they don't just sit there with nothing to do. So, if you get there right before closing everyone is processed and you skip the line.

Lol. I remember back in the day the famous advice to "arrive early at first light" to avoid the line. I used to go in an hour or two before closing and was out within an hour. Nobody there. Why? Everybody lined up early first thing in the morning ????.

There are many skint and homeless who do this. It's a survival tactic the mind plays on itself. The mind creates a shell around itself and changes the interpretation of circumstances to reduce stress. You can find people in prison who believe that it's good for them, they can bring up God, discipline, whatever. Funny thing is they really believe they are happy and can actually be genuinely happy with their lot. Life is still hard and your crapping in the woods, but you can trick the mind even during torture, it depends on the person. Others turn to drugs to blunt the interpretation which is far more common. Soldiers do it also. For example, someone acting childish during combat and putting playing cards on dead soldiers, or calling people stupid names like charlie, etc. so the mind turns it into a game.

We have the laziest people in the world in our condo.....
JimTripper replied to redwood1's topic in Pattaya
Walking is not something people value here. It's popular in some other countries for leisure, for health, etc. Here it is seen primarily as a lower class activity for people that cannot afford transportation, unless your doing it specifically for exercise like in a park, or with jogging clothes on, etc. Deliveries gain face because somebody is serving you without you needing to do anything. So you would want to be seen by others receiving deliveries. Perhaps taking a call on your new iphone while getting the delivery and having the phone in your hand right when your neighbor walks by. Or, knowing when it's crowded and getting deliveries at thst time so you are seen or so people around think you are getting many important deliveries and don't care about the delivery costs. As for tipping, nobody knows (except the delivery guy who does not count and can't give face from something only they know about), so forget the tip unless it's just something small like 10 baht to keep them from possibly saying anything publically that can be heard by those watching. -
If you could afford an apt would you refuse it and live in the car?
-
It's more likely it sucks and your either in denial or just don't want to admit it. Living in a car and peeing at a nearby gym sucks, but if you can do it and stay happy, that's great.

You left out the beter options part (again) ????♂️

You left out what that better place actually is (again) ????♂️

Would everything be dandy if you had a tent under the overpass? You need to draw the line somewhere.

The area can feel a bit sleepy long term. I kept finding myself going into Pattaya main a lot. The beach was not ideal and water felt just not really something I would like to swim in all day so most of the beach stuff was being on the sand down near dongtan, since I don't like being around lots of people in the chairs on the main section which the Thai's like. (I don't like being around people at the beach and the sand felt dirty in those areas). On the flip side if your working or doing your own thing it's great to be able to go out and then return home. If I did not have work or my own gig I would not want to just retire in Jomtein.

Pretty easily actually. One divorce or jaded family member is enough. In many other countries it's easy to sue anyone in a minor court and get judgements against you. If you don't pay your bank accounts will be garnished.

Yes, it is. Plenty of people have made fortunes through borrowing money and using credit responsibly.

Major Thai brewer announces increase in beer prices
JimTripper replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Will skint people pisss in those large leo bottles when they are half full and be able to drink it like a full beer? You have a buzz anyhow and it may not make much of a difference, especially when your laughing, having a good time & enjoying a good cock fight with your buddies. Taking the pisss...????♂️
