  1. They don't seem to care about occupancy. It's big money behind the development, payoffs, loans, etc.
  2. What is living then? A two room apartment, a/c, food from a pricey restaurant, a fine wine?
  3. Preventing wars actually takes strong leaders. Usually conflicts arise when you have a weak hand or a flacid leader. In other words, people know they can step in and take advantage. They typically do this by testing the boundries. Then if there is a weak response they move in. That's why North Korea keeps setting off the missles. They are sending a message to other countries. Likely, they feel vulnerable being a small country.
  4. McCain would be a good guy to have in office right now. Seems like he could handle all the conflict and division a bit better.
  5. Maybe the shooter took out the team that was covering that building before he climbed up.
  6. This is a great setup for a stable third party candidate to win the election. The underdog party has a good chance of winning if they can remain relatively neutral and draw attention to the problems of the main party candidates. In such a scenario, the squabbles between Trump and Biden kind of converge and work together against them. The specifics get lost and people just move to another party candidate.
  7. Not if officers are right there and he puts the gun down. He's taken alive. Anything short of that he's taken out.
  8. There was no cover on stage. They were sitting ducks on stage. In that kind of situation you have to move the target immediately. It's other security forces job to determine location and return fire not the SS protecting Trump. One Guy is there in the video yelling "123 let's go!". They should not need to do that. They have spent years rehearsing this situation. I'm not sure what happened here. They are trained to not freeze like that. Then Trump pops his head up after he's in the car. They did not even have him secured in the vehicle 🤷🏻‍♂️
  9. Skipped to the last post to hear some updated information and got this post above...🤣
  10. They want to look out and have a view, not hide behind a curtain. They want the wide open view without someone looking in. Get it?
  11. True, but I don't think security was the same as for a sitting president where they cover every possible angle. I think Trump was on the ex-president security level even with an election on the way.
  12. When the ushered him away his head was exposed. Poor security.
  13. ...and a strong hand.
  14. Nobody that goes to Bryn Mawr ends up in Thailand (unless it's on some weiird gap year visit).
  15. So you never look out your window? Or do sunglasses make you immune? It's the other guy who's creepy. Too bad thet needs to see you.
  16. Only after a year in the majority of cases, or lose a two months deposit. That's a renting myth unless you consider a year an easy move. That's why they like a two months deposit here, people want to move out early 🤣.
  17. Long time. Ask Bob above also. You're not looking closely enough. Some guys are able to just ignore the nuances. It could also be the venues you go to (it won't happen as much in nicer places). It's not an outright rejection, more like a place starts acting "weird" once they feel like they know you and things take a bad turn from there. It's hard to describe.
  18. As far as I can tell many Thai's don't want foreigners integrating. They want them as visitors and tourists who move from place to place. When foreigners dig in, some Thainess and way of doing things is lost. It becomes diluted. Especially when they have to speak english to sell something or provide service. Kind of like the Mexican's who have invaded California. It's hard to imagine you are in America in some spots now.
  19. Nobody cares about return regular customers in Thailand (but they may care about online reviews these days). It's tourist oriented. You're replaced with the next bloke in a couple days when you move on. In fact, becoming a regular often creates suspicion and problems. It's better to choose a new venue each time and act like you are a tourist (contrary to what many newbie's believe, i.e. if I act like a long timer I'm respected more or treated better). Ditto for being asked how long you have lived here. It's better to not give the 10-20 year report. They like people on holiday here.
  20. Definately, Thailand is congregation city. They don't like being alone. That's why they find solo expats showing up here so strange as they present as people who have no friends or family or left them behind.
  21. You never look out your window? Not everybody wants to live in a cave.
