  1. Why bother posting when there is no consistency? It seems to be different for many people who go in for the same reason.
  2. People here are great at putting a positive spin on anything as they enjoy living in shoebox rooms, walking around in flip flops and drinking weak pisswater beer. Those who complain are marked as trolls.
  3. That's what exclusive resorts are all about. It keeps anything out that is not perfect or conductive to the experience. I think they have some in Phuket like that. They are usually gated and the people stay inside the boundry, so you would never come into contact anyway.
  4. Something similar happened to a friend of the family. A bookcase fell on her and she was trapped there for several days. Just by coincidence her son called and had someone visit the house when she did not answer. They found her there still under the bookcase. She survived but was never the same mentally due to the stress of the incident or dehydration.
  5. Plenty of month to month in Bangkok. Building will have a for rent sign hanging. Not the greatest neighborhoods. Working class Thai's don't often sign long term leases, it's pay every month. Not on the property listing websites, those seem to be mostly agents listing for commission. Stay in a guesthouse and look for the apartment buildings with Thai lettering on the outside. They are usually hidden behind nicer condo buildings (not on the main street).
  6. The questions is, what's your alternative? Having a house butt up is better then have a neighbor on the next wall over. Having a free frontal view is better then a neighbors window there in a condo. You're complaining about something with better and worse options. Ideally, you purchase land with a property on it in your name. That's a big negative I have with Thailand is that the land can't be owned. So, you have a "neighbor" with the land ownership and you need to get a good partner there. This is one of the reasons why I will only do a property purchase in my home country. It's only in my name and I choose my neighbors (or not).
  7. They don't seem to care about occupancy. It's big money behind the development, payoffs, loans, etc.
  8. What is living then? A two room apartment, a/c, food from a pricey restaurant, a fine wine?
  9. Preventing wars actually takes strong leaders. Usually conflicts arise when you have a weak hand or a flacid leader. In other words, people know they can step in and take advantage. They typically do this by testing the boundries. Then if there is a weak response they move in. That's why North Korea keeps setting off the missles. They are sending a message to other countries. Likely, they feel vulnerable being a small country.
  10. McCain would be a good guy to have in office right now. Seems like he could handle all the conflict and division a bit better.
  11. Maybe the shooter took out the team that was covering that building before he climbed up.
  12. This is a great setup for a stable third party candidate to win the election. The underdog party has a good chance of winning if they can remain relatively neutral and draw attention to the problems of the main party candidates. In such a scenario, the squabbles between Trump and Biden kind of converge and work together against them. The specifics get lost and people just move to another party candidate.
  13. Not if officers are right there and he puts the gun down. He's taken alive. Anything short of that he's taken out.
  14. There was no cover on stage. They were sitting ducks on stage. In that kind of situation you have to move the target immediately. It's other security forces job to determine location and return fire not the SS protecting Trump. One Guy is there in the video yelling "123 let's go!". They should not need to do that. They have spent years rehearsing this situation. I'm not sure what happened here. They are trained to not freeze like that. Then Trump pops his head up after he's in the car. They did not even have him secured in the vehicle 🤷🏻‍♂️
  15. Skipped to the last post to hear some updated information and got this post above...🤣
  16. They want to look out and have a view, not hide behind a curtain. They want the wide open view without someone looking in. Get it?
  17. True, but I don't think security was the same as for a sitting president where they cover every possible angle. I think Trump was on the ex-president security level even with an election on the way.
  18. When the ushered him away his head was exposed. Poor security.
  19. ...and a strong hand.
  20. Nobody that goes to Bryn Mawr ends up in Thailand (unless it's on some weiird gap year visit).
  21. So you never look out your window? Or do sunglasses make you immune? It's the other guy who's creepy. Too bad thet needs to see you.
  22. Only after a year in the majority of cases, or lose a two months deposit. That's a renting myth unless you consider a year an easy move. That's why they like a two months deposit here, people want to move out early 🤣.
