  1. People with problems have a need to place the problem onto others. An easy way to do this by complaining or telling. It actually puts some of the problems energy onto you if you absorb or listen to them talk about it. The problem becomes your problem in a very interesting and small way. In fact, you help someone get rid of their problem just by agreeing to listen to it (or reading about it). It's really weird stuff, but something every man should pay attention to. It gets even more subtle. For example, if you are in a bad environment the energy effects you and you become like that environment the more you are there. Not just in your character, but by the way you look and dress. It can even effect your physical body and facial features, so you look like a drunk or whatever over time.
  2. I'm flying out to do mine. I need to goto Bkk anyway and it's close to the same price, slightly more if you include the hotel rooms. It's much nicer to stay in a hotel for the night and have a one hour flight each way. I can't figure out why people would sit in a minivan for 8 hours unless they are in such a big hurry they can't lose a day in Pattaya. There are a lot of people like that around Pattaya though, everybody is in a rush these days.
  3. Most people won't have a knife or gun on them. I think the pitts have a lot if muscle and even stabbing does not work. The dogs biggest weakness it it's eyes. Stick your finger in it's eyes or use your house keys which most people always have on them to gouge the eyes.
  4. Yep, it's intentional. They get off on the risk involved in being seen or possibly caught.
  5. Mostly waters and small drinks. Those bottles of water for 10 baht.
  6. Greetings, man... A free spirit on a midnight ride; Air in his hair; Feathers ruffled with outstretched wings; On a fast smooth glide through stars and galaxies wide & narrow... A wrong turn, a strong wind and two stars collide; What a man and gentleman we had here, cycling in old age, undeterred by sore joints or old bones; A man who left us this day, on a high horse; Perchance getting a nudge into the heavenly highway, where he is, even now, astride a iron horse riding towards heaven & those pearly gates... Thanks for your ride man, sorry about the detour, happy and safe journeys await you on your trip to the stars...
  7. There is an older guy who lives in my neighborhood, probably 65 years of age or so. He sits at this bar almost every night and drinks a large bottle of Leo. He's a quiet guy and does not say much, dresses nice. I see him there when I walk by and he always sits in the same spot on the same chair. It's sad. He's retired and just drinking these large beers every night. I don't want to end up like this guy stuck in Pattaya drinking large Leo's. * I'm not an anti-beer or anti-alcohol guy, and I do drink. When I see these guys doing it every night though I get depressed and worried. That's not partying or having a good time, it's just more like imbibing. "Dude abides" (I mean "imbibes") & he dwells in ornate foilage and likes offerings.
  8. Not as sophisticated as you msy think. They call them Hustler's in New York City. It's just simply trying to get the attention of someone who has more then them. They make it up/spin it as they go along. When the opportunity presents itself the scam or whattever you want to call it comes into play. They ask questions, get information from you, find out about what you need, then try to assist you with that and take a cut somewhere along the way. It's not limited to that, it could be anything, an opportunity to take your wallet, etc. A simple purely made up example would be where you agree you need a haircut after talking to them and that topic comes up. You have to talk about something unless you are just completely silent. Then they know a place. When you arrive they haggle for a commission from the barber, or a tip from you. The complexity of the scam depends on how willing you are to be led along and how gulliable you seem and whether it's worth wasting more time or looking for an easier mark.
  9. In Lopburi they will jump onto people and hold on. You can't grab them because you most likely get bitten if you use your hands. They do it more often to female humans. They do it so you will throw food down to get them to go away. Many people just toss food or whatever is handy when they start getting too close.
  10. Remember that old person or neighbor who looked grumpy when you were partying as a youngster? You have become that old person. There's nothing wrong with that. We need old people to remind us that we don't live forever. It makes the young party harder and they forget for a brief while with beer bongs & loud music, that someday, they also will be that old person. We need young people parting to remind us, as we get old, that loud music and drunken reverly are not what they once were, at least not in the same way. It helps us to realize that we may need to glimpse over our shoulder and see an even grumpier older person, dead ahead, with white long beard or black flowing cape, expecting our arrival shortly, with much wine and merriment..
  11. If you move way out from the city that's not "really Pattaya" in my opinion. It's out in the boonies somewhere. When I hear Pattaya it's means the central area to me, bars, etc. Some guys here live way out there somewhere so it's only Pattaya in name maybe and they are talking about two different areas in reality. One could move way out from a central area anywhere and it would be much the same.
  12. I keep my phone, passport, wallet & laptop with me the entire time, even going to the bathroom on the plane. They are really small though.
  13. I opened a second account at my usa bank just to get a backup debit card. Pretty easy to do online.
  14. Never put your carry on directly above you. Put it in the overhead bin opposite you. You can see what people are doing. There is no rule it has to be in the bin directly above.
  15. These accusations that mention nationality always feel suspect to me. Almost like they are dis-information or have an ulterior motive. See how the word "American" is the first word in the headline? That's typically intentional in a campaign. Then "American Man" and "American National" are repeated several times in the story, trying to create an image of a deranged foreigner in people's minds.
  16. I'm not interested either. We must be getting old or something.
  17. I almost never see any people in there, but the beer is great.
  18. Sorry it had to end that way, man, in a forest in far away places, among unfamiliar faces. You fought many battles, some won, some lost. In country's both cold and warm, you faced trials, tribulations and blessings along the way. Now, many men fall in battle and it's sad to see, but life is short with many dead ends. You searched and found, perchance got lost, but man, you tried and for that I give a toss. Rip.
  19. CM was much cheaper unless it's gone up that much in the past 5-10 years since I last lived there. To give one example: Meals in Pattaya are hitting around 100 baht for just a rice dish. That's twice what I was paying in CM. That's something I pay multiple times a day. Smoothies were 20-40 baht, they are twice that in Pattaya. Fruit vendors are still the same, 20 baht, the last holdouts? A latte is around 70 baht in Pattaya, 30 in CM, again almost double. The example are numerous. 20k got me a villa with a koi pond in CM, in Pattaya it gets me a condo.
  20. I have often wondered why I don't like living in pattaya. From the reports, I should be having the time of my life, but it is not happening. Some people say it's me that's the problem, others agree with my view. One thing is for sure, it's not for everybody. So be careful what others tell you about paradise & perfect places. Some people thrive in barren deserts, others in noisy bars. Some in far away places, others among familiar faces. Wherever you find yourself, man, I hope you make the best of your hand and watch your step on balconies in far away lands.
  21. That branded store near me can get nasty with people not yielding and so many carts in a small space. I started going late at night when it's mostly empty. The first several times I came out of there just hating thai's. They don't yield or move half way like many foreigners are used to. I'm happy now just avoiding other shoppers. That could be part of what set the bloke off. No excuse for an attack of course.
  22. The city seems mostly for people that like to have sex a lot & drink cheap beer a lot. Looks like everybody is having a beer all the time. I was just recently at a cafe having a smoothie. The guy next to me is on his second large bottle of leo beer. I wonder why he has to drink that much beer in the heat and can't enjoy a fruit smoothie or a coffee in the afternoon?? Does he need to be wasted everywhere he goes??
