  1. Never had it made with Condensed milk but my Nan used to make it with Carnation Evaporated milk which wasn't so dense as the condensed milk. When I was a kid we would have a doorstep of crusty bread with condensed milk slathered on it when we got home from school. If there wasn't any condensed milk in the house, we'd have the bread and butter with sugar sprinkled on top. Next two hours running around like a nutter due to the sugar rush. Happy days! Monday was always a good day as we'd have 'dripping' (the fat and jelly left over from cooking Sunday's roast beef joint) on hot toast. Heart attack waiting to happen but absolutely delicious.
  2. I never intentionally go out to get pi$$ed. But I know when I go out I AM going to get pi$$ed. I think these closed bar days are far more of an inconvenience to us drinkers rather than the sanctimonious preachers who rarely drink but bleat on about the fact they can't enjoy a glass of pinot noir with their bulgur wheat salad on their one day out per month.
  3. I had to get the nearest 7/11 to me to open the 'curtain' on the beer fridge at 11.10am this morning. I wanted to get my preferred beer for the weekend (Tappers cans) before anyone else snaffled them. They only seem to have six in at a time. When I discussed with them that there were no beers sales tomorrow and Sunday they were totally oblivious to this. Baffling when a large chain like that can't tell their ar$e from their elbow.
  4. I think you will struggle to buy it anywhere to be sent as it doesn't 'travel' well. If you have a small kitchen top oven at your residence then it is pretty easy to make with a few ingredients and a baking dish/tin. The other possible option is it's likely that one or two 'English' restaurants in Pattaya sell it as a desert (along with apple/fruit crumble which is also very tasty as I'm sure you are aware). The restaurants that offer Sunday roast etc. They may well be able to pack you up a couple of portions aswell as takeaway which will reheat ok in a microwave. Best of luck with your search.
  5. Ah yes, but will you be riding a bicycle? In the immortal words of Hill Street Blues - 'Let's be careful out there'
  6. Being mindful of the impending 'dry' weekend, this morning I thought I'd better get some supplies in for the weekend. Off I went to 7/11 on my bicycle and bought 8 large bottles of Singha Reserve and put them in my bicycle basket. Just as I was about to return home I thought 'hang on, what happens to all the beer if I fall off my bicycle?' So I sat outside 7/11 and drank the lot, one after the other. Turned out to be a very wise decision as I fell off my bike seven times on the way home.
  7. On a past recommendation of yours, I just purchased some cans of Tapper (6.5%) from 7/11 - 56 baht per can. Thought I'd better get some supplies in for the 'dry' impending weekend. Just cracked a can to see what it's like. Lovely drop of beer. Doesn't taste like a 'strong' lager and leaves a very smooth aftertaste. 👍 for the recommendation - Cheers 🍻
  8. Thank you very much for your prompt response, much appreciated.
  9. Due to a medical condition (fortunately now in remission) I have the below 'emergency' card issued in Thai by the UK National Association for Crohn's and Colitiis. I have used it in the past in various Thai establishments and most have been very helpful (after giggling for a bit first). Luckily, it doesn't see the light of day too often now. Most of the large UK retailers have signed up to the scheme and a flash of the card will get me use of toilet facilities including staff toilets. I was also issued with a key which unlocks disabled toilets at train stations etc. I get the general meaning of the Thai translation but would appreciate if anyone on here could provide me with the exact translation compared to the English version. I have the same card in a couple of other Nationalities aswell which have also been useful. No laughing please.....555

  11. Yes, very much so. Bread pudding is a pretty stodgy lump of cake. Bread and butter pudding is much lighter. Triangles of buttered bread (or broiche etc) baked in the oven in a light custard. Some add sultanas, raisins, choc chips etc.
  12. Same for me with Gin - don't touch the stuff anymore. Just stick to beer myself.
  13. Seems a bit peculiar that he was checking in and out daily when he had been staying there a month. Perhaps knew his time was up at some stage (assuming he was paying daily as the report suggests) based on and the room contained only beer cans and liquor bottles. or finally decided on which day his time was up? Whatever the final outcome is, still a very sad story.
  14. Many Thai men (not all, but certainly the feckless ones) have it away on their toes the minute they find out the girl is pregnant, let alone wait for the first sign of trouble.
  15. I find a foot on each pedal and both hands on the handlebars works for me....
  16. He also knocked back the Republic of Ireland manager role in March. Perhaps he knew there was something more appealing coming along?.....
  17. Can't see it personally but there are worse candidates. He has been manager of the under 21's for 3 years so he certainly knows all the good young ones coming through. You should have a couple of quid on that - might be a good shout.
  18. Never liked him but begrudgingly have to admit he was a good player. Perfect example of good player doesn't mean good manager. I'd be surprised if he was offered a job in the Championship, no chance of getting the England job (I hope).
  19. My bad, looks like 6 shared the golden boot. 1. Dani Olmo Spain 3 (0) 2 5 341 = Georges Mikautadze Georgia 3 (1) 1 4 346 = Cody Gakpo Netherlands 3 (0) 1 6 525 = Ivan Schranz Slovakia 3 (0) 0 4 334 = Jamal Musiala Germany 3 (0) 0 5 423 = Harry Kane England 3 (1) 0 7 605 Normal settling rules mean you should have had 1/6th off your stake applied to the odds you took. Assists etc. shouldn't come into it.
  20. Don't think I would want a sandwich made by that face. Think you might get extra 'special sauce' if you didn't keep an eye on him whilst he was making it....
  21. How did your bet work out? I would have thought that you would have been settled at half stake as a pay-out. That's the usual way with Bet365 as a tied outcome. Be interested to know the outcome.
  22. They will probably go for Potter or Howe. I think they will go for an English manager. If they do consider a foreign boss then anyone but Mourinho please 🙏
  23. And that's why he tried explaining it to an assistant manager who speaks English well, and not a waitress.
  24. Certainly worth a few points if you were playing scrabble.
  25. Totally agree. As soon as they (I'm talking bar girls, not all Thai women) have an inkling that you may not be fresh off the plane and naïve, they will move on to their next prey. Doesn't make them bad - they just know not to waste too much time on you. It's their job after all.
