Bangkok Police Arrest Turkish Man for Theft, Online Revenge
Keeps replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I'm assuming it's rhyming slang - Captain Kirk = Turk -
I was hoping you would come along and put me straight 555

If you are referring to Red Dwarf, the BBC series, there are currently 8 seasons available on the BBC iPlayer. Not sure whether they made more than 8 series?

Well said.

Anyone else thinking a couple of OP's on this thread might be the same person?

I like to watch the cricket but sound off and listen to commentary on BBC radio. They paint a wonderful picture of what is actually happening and have a good laugh at the same time. Really have to be into your cricket though.

All he had to do was send me his bank account details and I would have transferred his lottery winnings. No, wait, that's the Nigerians. -
Heavy rain and flash flood warnings issued across Thailand
Keeps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm in Lamai, Koh Samui at the moment and it's absolutely bucketing down. Coincides with the first day my friends bar has had the public water on for 2 weeks. -
Perhaps he had a night out on the sauce and lost his key. Staggered back drunk, saw a spare key hanging up behind reception for his room number. Maybe the nighttime 'security' asleep/drunk. Helped himself to the key and slept it off? Maybe that's her problem? Nobody knows with the information provided in the original story. Probably more to this than first meets the eye, maybe?

Name one recipe that you cook at home whilst living in Thailand.
Keeps replied to ubonr1971's topic in General Topics
I describe my GF as more of an arsonist than a cook so I tend to do most of the cooking. Just knocking up a batch of Bolognese sauce now to eat over the next day or two. Using pork though as she won't eat beef. I'll have it with fettuccine and I have a half decent bit of parmesan I brought out with me as the cost is ridiculous here. Even the button mushrooms (fresh , not tinned) cost me a small fortune in Makro. I don't find it the same using the various Thai variations of mushroom. -
METV, 2 inbound and outbound tickets
Keeps replied to Jack1988's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
A friend of mine is on his fourth back to back METV visa obtained online from UK. He works offshore in Scotland and does 3 weeks in Thailand, 3 weeks out. He only ever provides one in/out flight ticket to/from Thailand. Perhaps the fact the flights show he is only staying 3 weeks has a bearing on the application? He went the METV route after being warned that he had too many visa exempt arrivals consecutively. He also mentioned that the documentation required now is much less than for his first one or two applications. -
Krabi Airport Taxi Rip-Off: 20km Trip Costs Tourist 2,500 Baht
Keeps replied to webfact's topic in Krabi News
Chiang Mai manages it. 200 baht from the airport to any hotel within the 'city'. Was 150 baht until fairly recently. -
I drink twice per week when in Thailand and once per month when in my homeland. When I do go out I like a drink. 10 small bottles of beer spread over 6+ hours watching the football and cricket hardly makes me an alcoholic. You seem to like judging others. Maybe an introspective look may be beneficial.

I didn't think for one moment that you were trashing weed users from your posts. Likewise, my post wasn't intended to aggravate in any way. More of a personal reflection of a situation I had myself a while back. Good luck with your efforts to stay off the puff. As I previously posted, I do not partake whilst in Thailand (bar one small faux pas) and limit myself to once a month when back in my homeland. I certainly feel better for it.
-
Sounds like your issue with the puff may be more down to where you live rather than the puff itself. If you live at the arse end of nowhere, perhaps boredom was playing a part.

I used to be a very heavy smoker back in my younger days. Can't remember not having a smoke every day in my 20's and 30's (now mid 50's). Even used to leave half a J in the ashtray at night so I could finish that when I got home from work, whilst skinning another one. Gave up then until Covid came along and I was stuck in the UK for around 18 months. At one point, we were only allowed out of the house for an hour a day for exercise (as I was on the very high risk category I did play by the rules for the most part). I started up again then. One small J per day whilst out walking which would alleviate the tedium. Now, when I am back in the UK, I limit myself to 1 day per month. Go to a mate's house, slab of beer or cider, a good smoke and a day watching the footy and betting on the horses. Funny enough, whilst in Thailand I don't smoke weed, save for 3 tokes on a J a couple of weeks back after about 10 beers. Very bad idea. Almost suffered a 'whitey' but just about dragged myself back from the abyss. I definitely feel better for my new limitations and certainly feel better healthwise and mentally.
