  1. 8 happy hour priced beers and a short time followed by a chicken kebab. Don't think I would get that past the Mrs. though - she doesn't like me eating chicken.
  2. Hadn't we established that susanlea was the new incarnation of sparktrader/bignok/uttaradit/dolf? I get a bit confused.......
  3. One more thing to add, whether it's of use or not. My mate has started flying with Eva from Schipol, Amsterdam to BKK. He flys premium economy/elite both ways. He has just booked a round trip AMS-BKK-AMS for £890. That's over £500 cheaper than the same flight from the UK. Obviously there are additional costs involved flying from UK to Amsterdam but it's still a big saving (especially for 2 people). Only real downsides are their schedule is 3 days a week and he spends a night in Amsterdam on the return leg (which some may view as a bonus but probably not applicable to you as you will be heading back to BKK)) due to the arrival time of the flight.
  4. Safe journey and enjoy your trip 👍
  5. About 20 years ago I had a gun pulled on me by a drunk Thai bar owner on Samui for beating him in a game of darts. Knew the guy pretty well but obviously didn't return to that bar. Think he wasn't happy that I was showboating and checked out on 90 with double top and bullseye 🎯 555
  6. Nice bet. Best of luck. It helps that Harry takes the penalties during normal time. 👍
  7. I'm not entirely sure what you are asking but if it is to upgrade from Economy to Elite or from Elite to Royal Laurel then it is certainly not cheap. I flew Eva London to Bangkok last month. Before departure I was invited to bid for an upgrade online. It was based on a 'swingometer'. To upgrade from Economy to Elite, a 500 Euro bid was poor, 750 Euro fair. To upgrade from Elite to Royal Laurel, 1,450 euros was poor/fair borderline. These figures were one way only. You can ask at the airport - either check-in or baggage drop. I have even seen people upgrade on the plane using credit card/swipe machine. I don't believe they offer any 'bargains' though. 200 Euros might tempt me but certainly not the amounts they were asking for. That aside, I much prefer to fly Eva over Thai Airways on the LHR-BKK-LHR route.
  8. After months and months of not viewing any of your posts I thought I'd take a peek and see if you had anything of value to add. Not surprisingly, the answer was a big, fat no.
  9. I'm not, but that's only down to the Mrs.... Only my birthday and any day with a 'Z' in it...
  10. Think you might need to edit that one. Bob's off to Koh Samet, not Samui. Or do you not like Samui aswell? 555
  11. You can love a pet dog and treat it well but still enjoy a delicious pork chop with a nice bit of crackling 🤤 Each to their own.
  12. I don't know about a film but I'm willing to bet that we will hear about them on the TV news channels. Enjoy your weekend Bob 👍
  13. Yes, but that is called sustenance, not a holiday.
  14. I applied for a SETV in April via the UK online system. It was a much simpler process and was received in 48 hours. I seem to recall I only provided evidence of address (bank statement although financials not required), passport biometrics page, return flight confirmation and confirmation of first 2 nights hotel booking (Agoda voucher). I didn't have to upload the previous document for various sections stating "not required for SETV". There was a slight delay with the payment process but received the payment receipt after about 12 hours.
  15. 5 minutes of freedom ... I could have managed a beer and a short time in that timeframe.
  16. I agree. As the saying goes, "you rarely see a bookie on a bicycle" When I was a teenager, I used to work evenings and Saturdays in a local amusement arcade for a bit of extra cash. The old style fruit machines were set to a payout level of circa 70%. There was also a way of telling whether a machine was 'due to payout'. As people played the machines, the payout tubes were replenished with the money they were putting in. When the tubes were full, the money would fall straight through to the cash box in a locked box at the bottom of the machine (which we would empty each evening). Working there, I could recognise the 'clunk' as the money hit the bottom cash box. I could lurk until someone gave up or run out of pocket money and then step in. Was not by any means foolproof but certainly paid for a few of my Saturday nights out.
  17. It would, but it won't increase Bangkok Airways profits and that's what it is all about...
  18. I seem to recall Bangkok airways domestic flights having no row 13. Could be imagining that though?
  19. LHR - BKK return I always use EVA. Flight times suit me for both outbound and return plus direct flights. Their reward program is also pretty good. Have had gold status for many years now and from checking in to baggage reclaim, it makes the whole journey more enjoyable. Not necessarily the cheapest but it works for me.
  20. I think you are being very conservative with your estimate if the guy happened to be a Brit....
  21. I don't have any tattoos myself but the only thing I would consider is having my blood group tattooed on my upper arm. Could come in handy in the event of a serious accident.
  22. Bearing in mind you are all one and the same person, are you really surprised?
  23. I'm just having a couple of bottles of beer Lao IPA which I am finding very agreeable. 70 baht per bottle at my local expat shop (Lamai, Koh Samui). I wish more bars/shops would stock the beer Lao range. I personally think it puts Thai beer to shame. I'm a Singha drinker when out and about.
  24. Couldn't agree more. There is barely a topic worth clicking on recently. Probably 2 people sharing around 8 identities. Not sure who has instigated this but it is certainly not doing the forum any favours.
  25. I have a resident punkawalla. I pay him 30 baht per day. Sometimes I put a heavy coat on just for a laugh so he has to work harder.
