  1. Thanks BMT - I'll give it a try.
  2. Possibly an AI generated new OP (along with a couple of others recently). Seems that this site is desperate for new members and is having to resort to this. The wording of these recent topics is very 'robotic'.
  3. Cheers - I'll give it a try. Few beers at the Hangout bar then a curry.
  4. Can you recommend a good Indian restaurant for when I am in Chiang Mai next month? I do recall you previously mentioning that one on Loy Kroh Road was pretty good. Is it the one on the other side of the road from the bar complex, up near the night market? (Think you cross a very small bridge just before you get there, name of the restaurant escapes me).
  5. Seriously, does anyone believe this crock of <deleted>e?
  6. My Mrs has no problem with dandruff when staying home in the North and not using aircon. However, if we go away and spend a month or two in an apartment then she regularly suffers from dandruff. I suspected it may be down to my heavy use of the aircon and I think this supports my suspicions.
  7. Such a terrible place yet you still stayed for a few months.........
  8. Off the topic a bit. I assume that you do not have too long left on your passport validity before renewal is required. No issues at any stage of the journey returning to Thailand regarding the expiration date eg less than 6 months etc?
  9. Anyone who has been outsmarted by an Aussie must be extremely dim indeed.
  10. Your post isn't a true reflection of what is being discussed here. Your examples are, in the main, all fixed rate modes of transport (other than possibly the tuktuk). There isn't really the option to be fare gouged on public transport.
  11. Bought these yesterday to ensure I can get my Marmite fix wherever I am without having to cart a jar around with me. 24 x 8g portions. £6 on Amazon UK.
  12. Agree. I've had posts deleted before and when going back to that topic shortly after, it always seems to be the same Mod who is lurking/overseeing that thread. Perhaps they can have it in for certain OP's?.....
  13. My understanding is that the TB (Yellow Book) is only proof of residence, not proof of ownership. If renting, an individual would still require/need a TB. I could well be wrong and I'm sure someone will come along and correct me if this is the case.
  14. I think you have misinterpreted this. The comment "in that country. " means that the will needs to be domiciled in that country rather than the individual physically being present in that country to actually make the will.
  15. I'm assuming it's the Tabien Baan (Yellow Book).
  16. I use Agoda extensively and continuously find them competitive on their pricing. On occasions, I contact a hotel directly to see if they can/want to match the Agoda price as I would much prefer that the whole amount went directly to the hotel. Sometimes hotels will do this, other times they instruct me to book with Agoda for the better price. One particular apartment I use regularly in Chiang Mai give me a small discount on the Agoda rate - they advised that Agoda take a 30% cut. Agoda often show different prices for the same room but the terms vary. Some offer free cancellation, pay later option, pay at the hotel, include breakfast etc. When I book via Agoda the final payment is always that originally shown when browsing the hotels - this includes any tax etc so there is never any nasty surprises when it comes to payment. As far as I know, there is no points to be had with Agoda. I believe the various VIP tiers are just based on the number of bookings you make over a set period of time. I have platinum status and when viewing a hotel and the different rates based on the various options mentioned above, it will automatically show if the price reflects a platinum member discount. Also, you sometimes get cash back rewards depending on the room rate basis you chose. I have however noticed that recently, the expiration date of the cash back is much shorter than it used to be. I personally find Agoda to be excellent and seem to have a much different experience with them than some of the OP's on this thread have.
  17. I can't see where the OP has asked a question and is looking for answers?
  18. I fly 3 or 4 times per year LHR-BKK-LHR with Eva. Usually, I am booking around 9 months in advance. The option is always available to select seat during the booking process although I am not charged due to membership tier. Have you been on the Manage Your Trip section of the EVA website? There is the opportunity to select your seat. I would ensure that you are on the website page applicable to the country in which you made your booking. If UK, the 'globe' in the top right corner of the website should say 'United Kingdom (English)'. If you are not a member of Star Alliance/EVA Evergreen rewards program then maybe this option is not available?

    The heat

My punkah-wallah is really earning the pittance I pay him during this current hot spell. Sometimes, I will slip on a heavy coat just for a laugh. My, how we chuckle while he is sweating like an Aussie in a maths test, desperately trying to keep me cool.
  20. I use ExpressVPN when in Thailand, usually connecting to UK East London server. Can never log on to Will Hill. Sky bet can be hit and miss but eventually manage to log on after a few tries. Never have an issue logging on to Paddy Power.
  21. More likely they would have found him a blanket rather an alternative seat.
  22. If they left 40 years ago and were becoming pensionable age now it is very unlikely they would have any significant amount of NI qualifying years to contribute to a state pension. If they did, it would be minimal due to contributory years but would start at the pro rata rate they were entitled to on the date they could claim. It would then be frozen at this rate.
  23. That's not the point though is it? Some people have it frozen at levels set some 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago. Some people are receiving less than £100 per week. Regardless of what additional assets you may have, an extra 4-5,000 baht per week always comes in handy.
  24. They should all be made to sit outside....
  25. Are you sure the way people are looking at you has anything to do whatsoever with your hat?
