  1. I am on a marriage extension. I have the bare minimum in a bank account and it is usually out as soon as I get the extension approved.
  2. I love the old tech. If you don't find anyone, I could advance you the shipping costs to Bangkok.
  3. Yes. Last December I went back to Canada, transferred all my savings into Canadian bank and now I am getting $2000 paid monthly on a 500k guaranteed "investment". The savings certificate will expire in December and I am hoping the interest rates will go higher. Why would anyone keep the money in this country? For what?
  4. I used to be married to a girl from the South (Surat Thani). She worked in Bangkok for Siemens BTS project and her family had a big plot of land where they were growing fruit, rubber trees and Chicken. Her family was pretty well off, but every time I visited they lived quite modest. Old house, smallest car you can buy and they never really showed off with stuff and things. The only thing they invested money was my ex-wife's education in Bangkok and the University was by all means pretty standard, nothing hiso. When we got married her parents also bought us land and built a small house as a present. So in all they were quite nice, not greedy and level headed. I normally hate the life in the village, but I actually liked going there for a visit as everyone always seemed to be enjoying themselves with just simple basic things. It looked like something out of a storybook. So, I do wonder is this money issue is only Isaan problem and with certain demographic.
  5. Xiaomi is overheating garbage, but why not Huawei?
  6. How did my ex girlfriend make money with her online business while selling clothes for the loss? Simple. I was paying for the clothes.
  7. My dear god, this nonsense again. Every time there is the potential to pump some stocks UP these "experts" come out of nowhere. 20 years ago STEM cells were supposed to cure cancer. Ten years ago Crypto was supposed to solve world hunger. Electric powered cars were supposed to be "good for the environment". BTW, did you not ask chatGTP about this topic?
  8. People think back home is different. Amazon is exactly the same. The only good thing about Amazon is their refunds.
  9. They are doing you a huge favor. You will eventually develop a massive acid reflux because of it, but hey..... you are one of the mates in Thailand doing things locally.
  10. Last time I did not mention that I packed a laptop in my suitcase. When I did a transit in Seoul they called my name, made me sign a paper that I allow them to open my suitcase and remove and dispose the battery from my laptop. So, I do not see how not mentioning it is going to work. They will find it as they scan everything that goes inside the airplane.
  11. Anyway raising the price 5-10% is normal. 40% is stupid. I don't think this is going to sit well with their Thai customers who are actually really cheap. My biggest peeve with this is that the restaurant will be gone and it will be one less place to eat in my vicinity. I started eating there long time ago because they used to make a really great Tom Kha Gai, but 4 years ago they completely stopped offering it. My guess is that because it was 4 times the price Thais were willing to pay. Most of their menus are traditional Thai dishes that are just a bit Westernized. Interestingly enough, they did not raise the prices of drinks even 1 baht.
  12. You must be really hungry in Thailand. 5 minutes to check out one person at the supermarket after scanning all the food. Once they input their rewards number, collect the coupons, scan the payment with the app that crashed, the barcode that does not match the discount, you would have already finished your meal at McDonald's.
  13. I see this comment a lot. A Cheap Charlie. Thank god I do not drink alcohol or Mama noodles, so I can hopefully be spared from this label. It is a funny comment because the massive amount of Cheap Charlies in Thailand are in fact Thai people.
  14. I clicked the link, read the whole article and IT DOES NO MAKE ANY SENSE
  15. No, Lego and Star Wars toys is much better.
  16. I find cheese here cheaper than Canada. The op posted a silly comparison. It is dead obvious that the product is imported.
  17. Every time the restaurant in Thailand changes the appearance of their menu, the prices go up. So, I stopped by Black Canyon today (I am sure I will get roasted for this, but I like eating there) and the prices are up on average 30-40%.. I guess it's back to happy meal for me.
  18. Yeah right. Worked really well for Steve Jobs with his hollistic approach.
  19. 100k per room devided by 15.....not so expensive for the vip experience
  20. I am against buying a property in Thailand in any place that starts with "Koh".
  21. I am talking about non o (marriage) visa.
  22. Very cheap. Did insurance cover something or was this really the full price out of pocket?
  23. Yes they might and it is entirely up to Airline to make your life diffucult or not. Things have changed a bit post covid and as I mentioned a few times here Cathay Pacific asked me for a return ticket on my marriage visa (I won that one). I have personally seen people in Toronto being forced to buy return tickets on the spot even with tourist visas while other times they just let everyone thru. Also if you are applying for a visa from your home country you will most likely be applying for e visa. One of the requirements is to show a return flight.
  24. I think you can't compare the two. I had a full abdomen scan including my back. Also had a detailed analysis of every organ on the spot. That being said 6k baht is very cheap so please share the name of the hospital. Also was it just a scan or was someone there to interpret the results?
