you are 100 percent correct about this. however this is not relevant in regards to prostitution and the events that go on in that industry. what you are talking about is human trafficking not prostitution. there is a huge difference. kids sold to brothels etc. kidnapped women. things like that. for the vast majority of prostitution here in thailand... thai need to only look inward. thai on thai encounters account for most of the industry here. foreigners are a small percent of it.

human trafficking is a huge problem. the recent movie sound of freedom (please leave your political views out and focus on the human trafficking) has brought this to a bigger light and i for one am happy. i wonder if the author would also write a piece from the other side as well. there are thousands and thousands of men who are taken advantage of by these *victims*. men who have their life savings stolen from them. men who are manipulated and lied to for any number of reasons. we all know and have heard of so many stories about this. to be clear. yes i am aware that some women are forced to do this work. yes i am aware that some families sell their daughters into this trade. i am also aware that the vast majority freely choose this line of work - regardless of the circumstances that lead to that decision.

even in death gotta find a way to get that money eh.

tell the parents to toss off. in their position i find it totally inappropriate and disrespectful for them to ask you..... especially that you haven't lived here for 17 years. and seeing as you are not in thailand maybe they should give some thought to your culture and its practices. why is it always only 1 way when it comes to respecting cultures and practices.
