  1. Does anyone have a Fidelity brokerage account with a foreign address? I used to a long time ago. They put restrictions on it but let me keep the account so I changed to a U.S. address. I'm wondering what the situation is like now -- do they still let you keep the account or will they threaten to shut it down. I've heard it depends to a certain extent on the size of your account but I don't know if that's true. Also, has anyone experienced the implemenation of two-factor authentication with their Fidelity account. I was trying to change my profile and they wanted to send a code to my mobile phone. I'm going to have to call them about it. I'm thinking of switching to the Schwab International One account just to avoid problems in the future.
  2. If you like Big Sky, you'll probably also like Joe Pickett, which is also based on the books by CJ Box.
  3. More and more content is being put behind paywalls, which makes important information inaccessible for many people. There is an addon for Chrome and Firefox that enables you to, as the title suggests, bypass the paywalls. It doesn't do anything illegal. It's just that most sites will give you a certain number of free articles before they shut you out. The extension ensures that cookies are continually wiped in order to keep extending your free allotment. The original was called Bypass Paywalls and is available for Chrome and Firefox. There is an updated version called Bypass Paywalls Clean, which is what I use with Firefox.

  5. Dalgliesh. Based on the PD James novels. Bertie Carvel as the title character fits the part well. Each case is a two parter with a total of six episodes. There is a little wokeness but it doesn't become overwhelming.
  6. In addition, there is the question of valuation, which everybody ignores nowadays, despite the fact that we've had two bubbles burst in the last 20 years. Even with the 19 percent fall in the S&P last year, stock valuations remain in the highest percentile in history. There is ingrained belief among many that valuations don't matter thanks to the FED continually propping up the stock market. Tesla and Facebook (Meta) were supposed to keep growing to the stars despite the fact that they were wildly overvalued. Now they're down about 70 percent. Elon Musk has lost US200 billion. Cathy Woods was buying "disruptors" with no attention to value. How's she doing? There's also the belief that stocks always do better than bonds over the long run. That isn't true. The S&P 500 lagged Treasury bills from 1929-1947, 1966-1985, and 2000-2013. 50 years out of an 84-year period. My point is that investing is hard. If it weren't, everybody would be rich. You can make a lot of money in the stock market but you ignore risk at your peril. There's a reason the best investors always talk about a margin of safety.
  7. Stocks are still expensive on a historical basis. If the FED keeps raising rates, you'll have bonds in the 6-8 percent range competing with stocks with low yields and low expected returns. Personally, if I can get a 6-8 percent low risk yield on bonds, I'll make them the biggest part of my portfolio.
  8. Try taping your mouth at night. That will force you to breathe through your nose rather than your mouth, which often helps to alleviate teeth grinding (or so I've heard) and other breathing abnormalities.
  9. There are lots in Lumpini as well. Most have had their shots and the females have been spayed.
  10. It does get a lot better though it is a little far fetched
  11. I recently got sick for the first time in a long time, years in fact (I never got covid). I had the same symptoms as you had and concluded that it was probably RSV because there was no fever or body ache, just sore throat, nasal congestion, and a cough. I also tested negative for Covid. It took me about a week to recover, which I thought was unusually long. I still get a cough from time to time but that might be due to the pollution. The three bugs going around are Covid, RSV, and the flu. There are charts online to check the symptoms.
  12. that's more a budget hotel than 4 or 5 stars
  13. If it's real, it is amazing. The guy's in his 50's. Give credit where credit is due.
  14. Immigration was so worried about the farangs in thailand that it seems they somehow overlooked an invasion by the Chinese mafia.
  15. In the park, I mainly see pigeons, crows, sparrows and myrnah birds and what I guess might be an occasional Asian bluebird. Except for the bluebird, these birds are so aggressive and prolific they don't leve much room for anyting else.
  16. Here's a NY Times link: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/23/health/covid-africa-deaths.html What's amazing to me is that the experts on the ground studying this phenomenon can't agree on the causes. But the geniuses on this forum with no expertise at all somehow have all the answers and are completely certain that they are right. It's laughable.
  17. No, my point was that African countries have low vaccination rates and low covid mortality rates. That's all. And it's untrue that African countries have non-existent healthcare systems. It's just that healthcare is provided at by local grassroots providers rather than by big corporations.
