  1. How can you do a root canal and put in the crown on the same day? Root canals alone often take more than one visit. Then the dentist has to take an impression of the tooth and have a custom crown made in a dental lab, which usually takes at least a week.
  2. Last time I paid 1100 on bolt (+tolls)
  3. You people don't get it. He has a huge inventory of unsold luxury condos he needs to get rid of and his only hope is that the foreigners will be dumb enough to buy them. That's why he keeps going overseas. Once a salesman, always a salesman.
  4. A billionaire who wants the state to pay for his luxury vacations
  5. What are these negatives he's talking about. Road accidents, domestic disputes, sexual assaults and other crimes are always fueled by alcohol or yaba, not marijuana. Pot smokers can barely move after smoking weed with THC levels of 20-30 percent. This is Thaksin returning favors to the people who brought him home.
  6. To qoute Leonard Cohen, "You were born to judge the world, forgive me but I wasn't."
  7. It's true that the days of the Land of Smiles are over but that's the nature of the modern world. Everything is about money now. Most Thais, except the rich, are deep in debt, the cost of living has gone way up, the sense of community has been lost, people are living in isolation, they're not getting married, they're not having children. It takes a psychological toll.
  8. It wasn't a guy, it was a woman. What a useless hypothtical. Self defense only applies if you're if you're being threatened with bodily harm or death. That doesn't apply here. Some aggressive bitches? Really? If you don't like the way a woman acts, you break her jaw and put her in the hospital? Nice to know. I can tell you for a fact that if this happened in Japan, which so many members of this forum seem to like for it peace and harmony, you'd easily get five years in jail. I'm just stunned by the level of misogyny on this board.
  9. She didn't deserve it. What a statement. Her slap hardly touched him (and we don't know what he said to her to provoke it) but nevertheless he punched her as hard as he could and strolled off leaving her unconcious on the ground. This is aggravated assault, a felony. His job is to protect the tenants not beat them up. She could have died while he was ignoring her. He should be in jail. I can't believe anybody would be so callous as to make such a remark.
  10. I don't think the principle of "never hit a woman" applies in Thailand.
  11. Buds aren't recommended and if you're not careful they will drive the wax in further. The cotton tip can even come off and lodge in your ear (it happened to me). They are best for just cleaning the outer ear. However, if you have an adjustable shower head and put it on the strongest setting, you can use it to flush out the ear. Just direct the flow into the ear. It might take a few attempts though.
  12. In its pure form, it's neutral. But in solution, the ph is generally around 4 or 5. So it's a weak acid. This is why most dentists don't recommend using it as a mouthwash. It's also used to white teethen as well as bleach hair, of course. By the way, it can also cure herpes.
  13. It also depends on the card that you're using. I know that Citibank used to incorporate a 1 percent fee into the exchange rate with the standard debit card. In fact, it's often hard to know just how much you're being charged.
  14. The problem with hydrogen peroxide is that it doesn't really penetrate very far if the wax runs deep or is impacted. Plus, you're putting an acid in your ear, so you don't want to do it on a regular basis.
  15. You can do it yourself. Get a plastic syringe at a pharmacy, fill it with warm water, inject it into the ear. Tilt the head and hold it there for five or ten minutes.
  16. The problem is traveling to a major market in Pattaya is time-consuming and you can't carry that much, certainly not on the baht bus. Most condos don't have a greal deal of storage space in the kitchen either. This necessitates visiting a store several times a week, I find. But I suppose in Thailand cooking is not a priority for most people. I find eating out all the time exhausting, however.
  17. That's not true. Citibank Thailand is a separate entity independent of Citibank N.A. While it's classified as a branch, that's a technical classification made by the Bank of Thailand relating to its structure. It doesn't mean that it is part of the Citibank NA operations.
  18. It's 220 baht now
  19. Normally, I don't like to tip but I'll do it on occasion if I feel it's warranted. For example, I took a Bolt from Pattaya to Bankok for 1100. It was a nice car, new, plenty of leg room, the driver was fast and efficient, he had three phones going charting the route and made good time. So I gave him a tip. It was over two hour journey after all. He seemed surprised.
  20. Given that there are no full-scale grocery stores in Jomtien, just the ubiqutous 7-11s and Tops Dailies, do people living there mainly eat out? Is there a convenient way to rely on your own cooking if you don't have your own transporation or would you have to take Bolt constantly to one of the major stores? I'm thinking of transferring there but I wonder if there is a lack of amentities outside the tourist trade.
  21. He means what the crown is made from: ceramic, ziconia, porcelin, gold or a combination
  22. I only tried it out as a public service to this forum.
  23. But that's Pratamnak, isn't it? That's a ways to go for breakfast.
  24. This one looks a lot nicer
  25. The other one. It is in the jomtien complex, I guess
