  1. it's the age-old attraction to forbidden fruit. I doubt that anybody is turned on by upskirts; it's the idea that you are seeing something that you're not supposed to that is titillating to those with this particular fetish,
  2. Although double taxation treaties exist, they don't always cover all of the income a person might generate. When I worked in Japan, for example, I was allowed a flat $70,000 income deduction. Anything I earned in excess of that would be taxed by both the U.S and Japan. This has always been a problem for U.S. citizens working overseas. Currently, I have to file U.S. taxes. Now I'll have to file Thai taxes as well even though I haven't generated any income at all in Thailand? This is a complication that most retirees don't want. Furthermore, one of the selling points of pricey long-term visa schemes was that foreigners who purchased these visas wouldn't have to pay tax in Thailand. Imagine if you have to prove that you earn at least $80,000 a year to qualify for such a visa and then find out that you'll have to pay taxes on that income! Also, how are you supposed to prove that you paid taxes on any money you transfer from overseas? Your income tax report only specifies how much you earned in income or capital gains for a single year. But if you're tranfering money from a saving or checking account, how are you supposed to proved that the money has already been taxed? If this goes through, it will be a huge headache to foreigners in Thailand and offer little benefit to the government.
  3. He is a big joker though. He spent 30 million of his own money to pay for the support of his troops? He inherited 1 billion (his wife actually) so he doesn't need to be corrupt? He was videotaped singing with a big operator of online gambling websites and he didn't realize who she was? She just approached him becaue of his amicable personality? It's like a stand-up comedy routine. I suspect the real reason behind his anti-corruption crusade is to amass personal power for himself by undermining other top officials. And he's pissed a lot of people off in the process.
  4. And the government's brilliant plan is to draw in even more tourists. Keep the people busy with those low wages jobs so they're busy ripping off tourists instead of complaining about the government!
  5. Can't have one if you live overseas though.
  6. Mots services in Pattaya is also full service. They'll even do your TM30 or get you a resident certificate (if you live in Pattaya). I don't know what they charge for extensions. Also, Tik Tok services in Jomtien have been highly recommended.,
  7. Thai visa is reliable and you can use it from anywhere. They'll also do your 90 day reports for an extra cost. On the downside, their fees have gone up (last I checked it was 20,000 for a retirement extension), it's somewhat slow, and your extension will come from a provincial immigration office.
  8. The cheapest, although you need a Bangkok Bank account at their bank to get the lowest fee. Any other branch and it goes up by 3,500 and they won't accept accounts at any other bank.
  9. It does but it costs 16,000 and takes about 2 weeks. That's if you have a Bangkok Bank account. If not, factor in another 6,000
  10. He has 5 houses? And a personal protection unit? How anybody can think this guy is not corrupt is beyond me,
  11. Why bother with fact checking when your mind is already made up https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/cleveland-clinic-study-didnt-find-more-covid-19-vaccine-doses-causes-increased-covid-19-risk-association-alone-doesnt-imply-causation/
  12. Season 1 of Chuck is available on TGX and EZTV. This show came out in 2007 but I had never heard of it. It's a comedy about a computer nerd who inadvertantly has the complete databases of the CIA and NSA downloaded into his head. Chaos ensures. I've gotten halfway through season 1 and found it very funny,
  13. And if you were living in the U.S. where it reportedly now costs $80,000 to live a comfortable lifestyle, where rents and housing prices have skyrocketed, where people are arguing endlessly about stupid topics like what is a woman, you would be saying: Why didn't I sell everything and move to Thailand when I had the chance
  14. A complete misrepresentation. What the CDC actually said was that vaccinated people were more likely to get the new variant -- i.e. were less protected -- than the older variants. If you can't even read a new article correctly, why would you comment about a complicated subject like this?
  15. Cleary you know nothing about the subject of vaccines or the Covid mrna vaccines in particular. So why do you even post? Post a reputable study to back your 200,000 deaths figure. And how exactly did these deaths occur? Do you even have a clue?
  16. I received a notification from Google saying that the privacy controls had been updated to give users more control over their ads. What they had actually done wa change all my privacy settings to give them permission to surveil all of my activity on my phone so they could give me "personalized ads". I turned everything off but how many people are going to fail to notice?
  17. This is exactly what has happened. The corruption has come out of the closet and they're not even going to pretend to hide it anymore. It's a power play. Show the people that no matter what they do, they're not going to get change.
  18. I'm sure it will be fine. It's clear that only the finest minds in the kingdom have been appointed to this Cabinet.
  19. It's actually true that Twitter has become much worse under Musk unless, I guess, you're all for freedom of hate speech.
  20. As it stands now, this wouldn't affect retirees, who are not registered with the tax office. But it seems the powers that be are determined to screw farangs as much as possible so it's hard to feel confident.
  21. You go to the police and make a police report, then you go to the embassy and apply for a new passport. The embassy will give you a letter stating that your passport was stolen or lost. You take that to immigration with a copy of your old passport and visa (if you have it) and they will transfer the visa to the new passport
  22. People at my condo sometimes leave their phone unattended while they use the bathroom. There's CCTV so I doubt anybody would steal it.
  23. Was her name Maggie May?
