Don't like to be a party pooper, but the lock down introduced on 9th April was all the road blocks.
Don't count your beers until the caps are off.

That's surprising. It was open couple of days ago. I only got as far as the guy with the hand wash and temp gun at the entrance, as he told me the shop I was wanting to go to was closed, but something in there must be up and running to warrant the check.
Could it be the supermarket?

Looks great, but what about social distancing?

Where has this thread gone to. It started with the lock down cock-up and now it full of hot air and wind.
Anyone know what is happening with the lock down going forward?

Since we are talking about numbers, I will give you some so that you understand that all this media hype and these scandalous confinements only exist because there is a very big eel under rockI dare write it, manipulation on a very large scale
1969, the flu killed 25,000 in France alone and in a single month, the month of December
2018 (2 years ago therefore), malaria 228 million patients and 405,000 dead
2018, tuberculosis, 10 million patients and 1.5 million deaths
Dengue: WHO report: According to a recent estimate, there are 390 million cases of dengue per year of which 96 million have clinical manifestations and a number of deaths for the moment relatively low but constantly increasing. ( more explanations on WiKi )
As for the Ebola virus, probably the worst of all to date, its mortality rate varies from 25 to 90%, depending on the epidemic ... By comparison, it is estimated today that 98% of Covid-19 patients heal.
I wonder why all this end of the world cinema. I wonder what is really playing out there, behind the sick and their respirators: are we playing the Great War to better mask the great depression that is coming? Is this an economic war to prepare for the tilting of empires and the collapse of the West?
And of course the economic and social fall out from the instances you quote were just a pinprick compared with the mutilations that that Covid 19 measures are already causing.
Another instance was the last pandemic - swine fever in 2009/10. The high side estimates are 1.4 billion infected and 500,000 deaths. The economic fall out was low, especially as this came on the heels of Leeman Brothers and the sub-prime mortgage scandal.

To OP -
"I never trust statistics unless I have massaged them myself". A quote often attributed to Winston Churchill, although it seems he did not make it. Nevertheless it is still a good observation.
Having said that you do make a very valid point. A lot of the hype about this panic demic needs to be put into perspective; if not your way then some other. I still cannot help feeling that at the end of the day the cure might well be as bad as the sickness.
Lock downs, curfews, face masks, closed boarders etc. etc. seem to have been thrown around with gay abandon without much thought as to whether they are necessary or not; which should vary country by country. Governments need to be seen to be doing something. So when they have taken a few sensible measures they continue to do things whether necessary or not.
Time will tell.

Maybe need to get a bit fitter.
You can always change the mask before you enter.I am quite fit thank you. Always been a heavy sweater - good thing stops body overheating.
Back to the masks - believe me it takes very little sweat to soak a mask as I found out. Masks are already in short supply so why over use when not necessary?

Here is another thing about wearing masks everywhere.
I have been wearing a mask in places like supermarkets etc. This is more to avoid upsetting people who panic when they see someone not wearing a mask than in the hope it will do any good. Today I thought I would wear one on my 15 minute walk to the supermarket; despite the fact that I know that the virus is not airbourne and wearing one on the street is a waste of time.
The thing is I worked up a sweat and by the time I got to the supermarket my mask was sopping wet. So I ended up wearing a useless mask in the supermarket.
For those who advocate mask wearing - fair enough; you are entitled to your opinion. However, there needs to be a balance and reasonableness about when and where to to wear a mask.

Of course one problem is obtaining a mask. No matter what anyone says they are not widely available - in Pattaya at least.

The last pandemic was only a 100 years ago. The last world war less than 80. What makes you think this isn't going to happen again?
The last pandemic was 2009/10 - it is some times called swine fever. Started in Mexico, although the first recorded cases were in USA.

South Korea and China showed that WHO is wrong. If we all wear a mask we reduce the amount of droplets. Some lucky ones may have FFP3 masks and be protected by a useless mask from breathing in droplets altogether. I wear one outside wherever I go.
And Singapore shows that WHO is right. Compare Singapore's infection and death rates with those in China and South Korea.

This is also what the leaders of rare countries like Sweden, Switzerland think.
Morality has nothing to do or see in what is happening today.
The countries that have done (South Korea) or are currently doing (Germany) a massive screening will be the ones that will do the best and the quickest.
And Mr. Trump, you can think what you want from him, but he made the right decision: to make sure that the economy of his country did not collapse.
The others, because of the gross ignorance of their leaders will be plunged into a serious recession;
millions of jobs lost, most forever.
All this by an unreasonable fear which comes from nowhere except maybe of the European middle ages ... well fed by the newspapers " aux ordres " which ALL belong to billionaires.very many dead who have absolutely nothing to do with the Covid will be declared because of it while these people, mostly elderly or very elderly, died because they already had 1 or 2 or even 3 significant pathologies.
the Covid will only speed up the process but has never been the lethal factor.A couple of take aways from your interesting post.
First I am reminded of the Roosevelt quote - "The only thing you need to fear is fear itself".
Second, an item from Sky TV a couple of days ago. The UK death toll then was about 760 and 98% of those had underlying health conditions. The Imperial model predicted about 20,000 deaths in UK. Medical experts estimated half of those 20,000 would have died within a year anyway. Of course this is just prediction. It sounds a bit callous, but it does, perhaps, put thing in a different perspective.

At a minimum 3% fatality rate....let's just work out the tens of millions of deaths worldwide....will shadow Spanish flu..
You have a point, but before we estimate the numbers relating to a 3% mortality rate we need to know the infection rate numbers. Some experts are predicting something closer to a 1% mortality rate. We will not know until it is over.
The world seemed to go to a lock down mentality before the extent of the spread was known. History will, perhaps, show that this was the correct approach. Until we get to that time I cannot help but have reservations.
Still, we have gone down that road and it is too late to change. Time will tell.

Letting it run its course was largely what 2009 Swine flu pandemic did. The casualty number is not clear, but it was a lot even after several vaccines were made available.
A vaccine, if available and safer than the virus itself, would be welcome before letting it run rampant.
You are right to raise the issue of the swine flu - the last pandemic. Estimated casualty numbers vary, but the upper end is 1.4 billion infected with 500,000 dead (Wikipedia). Another factor with swine flu is that it died out in 2009 only to re-appear in 2010.
The economic impact of the approach to COVID 19 is going to be horrendous. The suffering this will cause can only be imagined (or perhaps can't). I have asked myself, before Trump even raised it, - is the cure worse than the illness?
Unfortunately I cannot answer my own question. What I would like to have is a professional and definitive answer to the question - why is COVID 19 being treated differently to Swine Flu?

I not worry myself.
I worry about other people. Thousands people die everyday now.
If I get it I will not die, because young, healthy, female.
I worry that kill somebody. Must be resposabilty for other people.
I also worry the economy. If longer time = more loss for many people.
You may be in a low risk group, but you will not die???? Dream on baby. That attitude is irresponsible and costs live. Everyone should accept that they could die.
Washing hands and social distancing saves lives. Giving people a false sense of security that wearing a mask swill save them is also irresponsible. They should take the proper precautions.
I see people going into a super markets wearing a mask, but failing to use the hand sanitiser that is usually provided.

Total true again. Open the eyes.
I not understand why some people argue about wear mask so much. Is not difficult.
Not be selfish, considerate for elderly.
thousand+ die everyday now.
Next week will be 10,000+ everyday.
The World Health Organization may not know everything, but it know more about viruses than anyone else. Here is their latest advice on masks
Contrary to your claim, wearing masks is difficult if you can't get one because Thais are hoarding them.
I notice that you did not include the fake news of your earlier post that people in Singapore wear face masks. Some do most do not. The Singapore Government follows WHO advice and has earned world wide praise for the way it has handled the pandemic.
Thailand has failed to deal with this in a timely manner, blaming it on foreigners (how many foreigners attended the famous boxing match and how many Thais were wearing face masks?). People living in Thailand Thais and Farangs, are now going to pay the price.

UK has got this right. Once a day you can exercise (running, walking or cycling) on your own or with members of the same household.
Exercise is good for maintaining the immune system which has to be a good thing in times like these. It is a positive not a negative.

It says the certificate must be issued by a hospital (rather than a private doctor??). In Hong Kong and Macau that would be problematic. They are far too busy for that nonsense.

Lets see if I have got this right.
Two days of packed supermarkets (or until they run out) - four days of binge drinking - 25 days of hangover and cold turkey.
That is, of course, that the story is true. I still find it hard to believe. A bit of kite flying?
